This makes me think of that Futurama episode with the "froot" cup
A mason jar is high quality. The cheap stuff comes in tetrapaks
On Hidden comments, I think one of mine was hidden when I referenced a certain Dune quote by Duke Leto about catching Gurney Halleck without a quotation.
New Jersey coastal wines - actually I've been to many coastal vineyards from Cape May north - are better for whites than reds, to my palate. Then again I never saw a New Jersey "white". And seeing this, I won't.
Ahhhh, my other-other-other favorite child. More Brun, please. I would like to know if she and Millie are politely smooching or still just occasionally holding hands in the park or at the library.
Anh could definitely be a sommelier.
From “Jersey Mike’s Fine Wines and Occasional Whimpers”
The Mason jars *obscure* the "bouquet". I hope.
Sláinte 🥂
Oh, they totally are. You don't have to look too closely to see how wildly the scores for THE SAME WINE vary for individual tasters over a period. It was a 7 in August, def from France, oooo, this is a 9 from Italy for sure....
In 2002 and 2007 Two Buck Chuck won major wine competitions.
I love that detail from Brun: ”I dont now if it’s a north-facing part of New Jersey”
At least it's not wine that's in quotation marks.
It was "red" when we put it in the jug, but there's no guarantee that it stays "red".
How else you gonna drink a New Jersey red than out of a mason jar
Sideways: The Squeakquel 🍷🍷
Any beverage that comes out of a jug is a-okay in my book. Jug wine forever!
At least they didn't put the "wine" in quotes.
Mwaaaahahh, the Tuscan... red wine has always been celebrated...for its excellence. There is a New Jersey "red" wine by Paul Masonjar... inspired by that same Tuscan excellence. It's fermented in the jug and like the best Tuscan red wine, it's vintage dated.
Mmmmbhhh.... [*tapping the jug and staring at Brun*] does it do anything
Umm... Who gets the insurance payout if the wine isn't safe to drink, and there are casualties?
I'm guessing the bar? That it's like malpractice insurance.
Such a meet cute
Slug-a-jug Cabernet Sauvignon, vintage August. This August.
I'm reminded of a tasting a wine distributor of only French wines gave. He served this one wine that he described as "Earthy, with hints of wheat, and barnyard." Barnyard... as in manure. But... as a person who visited relatives on a working farm, there's two kinds of aroma you get from fresh manure. One is the stink, the other is this sweetish smell that you first get when you smell manure. The stink quickly overwhelms it, but the wine had the second kind of aroma with just a hint of stank...
"This wine smells like shit. But like... in a good way."
headcanon, Anh was 100% correct
Ah yes the New Jersey "Red." An excellent "wine," with overtones of cranberry, tomato, and saltwater taffy, with a top note of Italian sub and an undercurrent of pork roll. For sale behind Wawas all along Route 9.
I do hope you're actually from New Jersey, and not just riffing on ambient media.

Amusing, it’s a double team. Pure awkwardness on all sides …
For the record science has tried wine snobs on working out vintages and found they cannot tell France's finest from Mad Dog 20-20.
I would be more concerned if they put the word wine in quotation marks.
"Red" "Wine" from "New" "Jersey"
They're drinking tea^H^H^H wine from mason jars (and it's not ironically).
Those better not be the good mason jars!
When we visited family near the vineyards in South Australia, we came home with casks of red and white for my mother-in-law. As the 'designated driver', I stayed in the car (ute) 'till they were loaded. The Cellar Door would fill your own bottles for you, but we got it in 5 litre cardboard casks. They also sold it in those 1000 litre plastic cubes in a metal frame.
We're originally from CA, and Hannelore's face is what we make anytime we've tried Napa valley wines. Sorry not sorry, being popular does not make it -good-.
I bartended at a couple of places that served the house wine out of the double-sized magnum bottles, and any time anyone wanted to see the bottle, it would always lead to everyone being slightly embarrassed.
Perhaps the shippers are right after all. This has all the makings of an awkward lesbian porn scene. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1468
Holy crap, BB. I've tried to search the archive in futile attempts to post something archeologically relevant before you do, with, at best, only minor success. The key, of course, is remembering enough about a prior comic to craft a search that yields a short list of close results. Which means remembering key words from the comic itself, not just concepts. If I'm really gonna compete, I'm thinking it's time to load up an LLM. Exobrains count, right?
New Jersey tastes like Tuscany?
Trying to figure out if there’s a French Tuscany mafia or you can only call it a mafia in the Corsica region of Italy.
They're 100% making it up but it's very rude to point it out, most of them don't know it.
Genuinely true. I seem to recall a study some years ago where only like 2% of wine "experts" in any given test could actually identify what they were drinking, and literally none of them did so consistently.
There are, in fact, some vineyards in New Jersey. They're not, like, great or anything, but not a complete joke. I'd be worried about a wine coming out of the Meadowlands, though.
Maybe they make retsina in the Pine Barrens?
It's from the Crypt of Terroir.
Classy mason jars! (i bet they get cleaned, too, at least once a week, whether they need it or not)
Brun is a professional.
My question is what exactly a north-facing vineyard entails. Doesn't a vineyard kind of, like... face all of the directions?
I know Jersey is allegedly known as the garden state, but not that kind of garden.
A frozé by any other name…
Do not let Jimbo see that jug. He will get flashbacks to his first girlfriend in the sixth grade.
I completely forgot about Jimbo. Steve and Jimbo need to make a return along with the BROS!.
L'chaim
We've swapped the state of New Jersey and the region of Tuscany, as a joke.
Tew Scany.
They…might want to stick to hard cider.
Or soft, soft is good
