Basemental Gangs 7.22.77
Finally!
This release took me significantly longer than I originally anticipated. What started out as a relatively straightforward feature quickly grew into something much more ambitious as I explored different gameplay ideas and tried to make the whole experience feel like a natural part of running a gang, rather than just another way of making money.
There has been a lot of balancing, testing, redesigning, and, of course, bug fixing along the way. Every new system had a tendency to reveal another edge case or gameplay issue that needed solving before I was happy with it. I've probably spent almost as much time playtesting this feature as I have actually building it, constantly tweaking progression, prices, missions, police pressure, and the overall gameplay loop until it felt rewarding without becoming repetitive or overpowered.
The end result is what I believe is one of the more in-depth gameplay systems I've added to Basemental Gangs so far, introducing an entirely new criminal enterprise built around acquiring, managing, and selling illegal firearms while climbing the ranks as a Gun Racket Boss.

Gun Warehouse Racket
Purchase Gun Warehouse
Before you can purchase a Gun Warehouse, you must first reach the maximum level in any of the four Gang Leader skills. Once you do, talk to your Right Hand Man and select Information > How to Purchase a Gun Warehouse.
As explained in the in-game tutorial, open Manage Worlds and edit the lot you want to use as your warehouse. Change its venue type to the appropriate Gun Warehouse venue, then return to your Gang Leader.
Finally, talk to your Right Hand Man again and select Racket > Purchase a Gun Warehouse. Choose the warehouse lot you just created from the world map, and the property will become your gang's Gun Warehouse.
Hire a Warehouse Boss
Now that you own a Gun Warehouse, it's time to appoint someone to run the operation. After all, your Gang Leader has more important things to do than oversee day-to-day business at such a shady establishment.
Using your Gang Leader, click on the phone and select Gangs > Hire Gun Warehouse Boss.
You can only hire Sims you already have a relationship with. While you can appoint one of your existing gang members, it is often smarter to recruit someone who isn't already affiliated with the gang. Doing so will not only give you a Warehouse Boss, but also earn you an additional gang member.
Weekly Income
With your Gun Warehouse up and running, your gang's weekly income will increase substantially. A successful Gun Warehouse operation generates significant profits, which are added to the earnings collected by your enforcers.
If you also operate an Illegal Casino and control a large number of street corners, you can expect some very lucrative payouts every Friday.
Run the Warehouse
The Sim you promoted to Warehouse Boss is now responsible for running the entire operation. They are also a fully fledged gang member, meaning they can participate in playable gang missions and collect their weekly cut from the Gang Boss.
Switch control to your Warehouse Boss, click on the phone, and select Gangs > Run Gun Warehouse. Note: The warehouse can only be operated between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
Once the situation begins, simply follow the objectives. They are designed to act as a step-by-step guide, teaching you how to successfully run your Gun Warehouse while introducing the different gameplay mechanics along the way.
Call Boss
After introducing yourself to the gang members hanging around the warehouse, the first thing you should do is pick up your phone, open the Gangs tab, and Call the Boss.
The boss will provide you with the numbers for a pair of burner phones—one belonging to an arms dealer and the other to a buyer. The contacts you receive are random, so you won't always be dealing with the same people.
The first time you call the boss, you'll also receive §100,000 to help get the operation up and running. Spend it wisely—you'll need working capital to buy weapons, pay for missions, and keep the business running. It disappears faster than you might think.
Bribe the Police and Send on Mission
Before calling an arms dealer, it's a good idea to Bribe the Police. Open the Gangs tab on your Sim's phone and select Bribe the Police. It costs §15,000, but it will keep police raids off your back for the rest of the day, allowing you to run your operation without unwanted interruptions.
You should also make use of your gang members. Click on any gang member you've introduced yourself to, select Gangs > Missions, and choose Send to Acquire Gun Crates.
This sends the gang member out to steal empty gun crates, which you'll need later to pack and sell your weapons.
As your Gun Racket Skill increases, additional missions become available, allowing your gang members to steal Handguns, SMGs, Shotguns, and Assault Rifles, reducing the number of weapons you need to purchase yourself.
The Gun Salesman
Now that you have your contacts, have bribed the police, and sent a gang member out on a mission, it's time to call an arms dealer. Open the Gangs tab on your phone and select Call Gun Salesman.
One of two possible arms dealers will arrive, each offering a different selection of weapons and prices. One is generally better connected than the other, so you won't always get the same deal.
Introduce yourself, build a bit of rapport, and try to Haggle the Price before making any purchases. A successful haggle will earn you a discount, allowing you to stretch your budget even further.
Be sure to purchase both Gun Crates and Weapons. Empty crates are required to pack your weapons for wholesale distribution, while the weapons themselves are your primary source of profit.
Note: At lower Gun Racket Skill levels, only a limited selection of weapons is available. As your skill increases, more weapons become available, purchase prices improve, and you'll also receive better prices when selling your completed gun crates.
Pack Guns in Crates
Place the appropriate Gun Crate on the floor. Each crate can only hold one type of weapon and requires 5 guns of the corresponding type to be fully packed.
With the required weapons in your Sim's inventory, click on the crate and select Pack Crate with Guns. Once all five weapons have been packed, the crate is ready for the final step.
Click on the packed crate and select Ready for Sale. This closes the lid, marking the shipment as ready for collection by a buyer.
Tip: Only crates marked Ready for Sale can be sold, so make sure to close the lid before calling a buyer.
The Gun Buyer
The Gun Buyer only collects shipments on Fridays, giving you the rest of the week to build up as much inventory as possible. At Gun Racket Skill level 1, this process will be fairly slow. As your skill increases, however, your gang members can steal more valuable weapons, your profits grow, and you'll have more money available to reinvest in the operation.
When Friday arrives, pick up your phone, open the Gangs tab, and select Call Gun Buyer. Once the buyer arrives, introduce yourself if necessary, then click on the buyer and select Gangs > Sell Crate.
The buyer will walk over to one of the crates marked Ready for Sale, collect it, and pay you immediately. If you have multiple crates waiting for shipment, simply repeat the interaction until they have all been sold.
Note: The buyer won't wait around forever. Once they leave the lot, you'll have to wait until the following Friday for another pickup opportunity.
Weekly Cut to Boss
Every Monday, one of the gang's enforcers will stop by the Gun Warehouse to collect the Gang Boss's weekly cut. The amount depends on your Gun Racket Skill:
Level 1: §20,000
Level 2: §35,000
Level 3: §40,000
Level 4: §50,000
Level 5: §60,000
Make sure you have enough household funds available before the enforcer arrives.
If you don't have enough cash, you can always ask the enforcer for a few extra days to come up with the money. Whether that's a good idea... well, you'll have to find out for yourself.
