I usually don’t talk too much about fixes in this “How it Works” section, but seeing as this one took so long to fix it definitely deserves a mention. If you were playing on a Mac and tried buying the Newspaper from the convenience store, the game would crash. Well… not anymore. This annoying bug has finally been squashed!

Caffeine
If your Sim is a fan of Power Sip energy drinks they now run the risk of developing a caffeine addiction, just like all those coffee drinkers out there.
Cannabis
Alright, I am pretty excited about this one, as it is something that has been requested for quite a while. While the actual animations themselves aren’t brand new, female Sims will now use the feminine cigarette smoking animation when smoking joints or blunts, while male Sims will default to the old masculine blunt/joint smoking animation.
But here’s the fun part...
You can now go into the Settings menu and change your Sim’s animation preference.
This works on a Sim-by-Sim basis, so make sure the Sim you want to change is selected, then click: Sim > Drugs > Settings > Smoking Style
From there you can set their preferred smoking animation style.
Steroid Physique
This is something I’ve wanted to do ever since the steroids feature first came out, a steroid physique that can only be attained by actually using steroids. I spent a lot of time tweaking this to make it exaggerated enough to look noticeable, but not so extreme that it causes clipping or ruins animations.
The steroid physique is split into three different tiers. If your Sim is using steroids and consistently working out, they will gradually progress through the first, second, and eventually the third tier.
If you’re not a fan of this feature, I also added a toggle for it in the Settings.
Just click any Sim > Drugs > Settings > Cheats then Enable or Disable Steroids Physique.
This does not require a game restart and will instantly affect all Sims currently using the Steroid Physique system.
Ever since steroids were first introduced, a lot of people have had questions about how they work, what the risks are, and how to use them as safely as possible. Because of that, Sims can now research steroids on the computer just like any other drug.
That should give you all the relevant information about the risks involved and how to use steroids in a relatively safe manner.
Other than that, I fixed a handful of bugs related to this feature as well, all of which are listed in the changelog.

Venue List
To make sure this mod works you need to download the updated Basemental Drugs venue list provided in this post. I recommend installing this venue list in a separate folder directly in your Mods folder called: Basemental Venue List. I also recommend updating it whenever there is a new mod version out as I constantly add in new custom venue compatibility from other mod authors.
Choose one of these 2 installation methods. Not both.
Basemental Drugs Installer (WINDOWS ONLY)
Delete all the old Basemental Drugs files from your Mods folder.*
Download this Basemental Drugs.exe file.
Run the Basemental Drugs.exe file.
Choose which Optional Packages you want included.
Delete your localthumbcache.package
* If you installed from the installer previously, you can delete the old files by launching the file called unins000.exe in your Basemental Drugs folder.
Basemental Drugs Zip (WINDOWS OR MAC)
Delete all the old Basemental Drugs files from your Mods folder.
Download the Basemental Drugs zip file.
Unzip the Basemental Drugs zip file.
Place the files in a folder titled Basemental Drugs in your Mods folder.
