The Imperial Gods are an advanced variant of regular deities, more specifically being one of the evolutionary branches of the Great Gods. The Imperial Gods and their Pantheon aren't merely one religion, but rather a large collection of gods, meshed together from various cultures, and generally worshipped by the wider Imperial society.
In other words, the Imperial Gods are the Gods most synaptically linked to, and most worshipped by Empires far and wide. They aren't just Gods endorsed in the name of state religion propaganda, but wholly believed in, by heart and soul. However, it is also because of this, that their faith is only stronger in realities with more abundance in Mystery, or say a lower Hume Level.
While other pantheons often depict many, if not all of the gods as belonging to specific races (typically those of the culture from which the pantheon originates), the Imperial Pantheon explicitly teaches that its members are not members of any mortal race. Though they may occasionally take on mortal form, this form is typically dictated by the mortals with which they are treating. When dealing with Humans, a god would appear human, or at least human-like; when dealing with Elves, an elf; with Trolls, a troll, etc. In spite of this, there are several gods which are typically depicted as members of races who form the majority of the cultures in which those gods form a chief part.
Some of the Imperial Gods are also Bodhisattvas.
