On the job injury

You may have noticed my coloring getting more detailed, especially in the fur fluffs. I’ve been liking that a bit, but it’s annihilated the muscles in my left forearm. Like a dork, I absent mindedly keep hovering my fingers over the function wheel (pictured here), and rapidly changing brush sizes with it as I go.

Over the last month I’ve noticed those muscles were sore and getting worse. My constant work keeping me from being able to heal them. Today, after coloring Trixie’s comic, I got up and it was feeling on fire.

I’m going to have to tie my arm behind my back and just work with one hand until it’s okay. This means work may be slower, but I’ll press on.

Might I suggest a variable foot pedal?

Your work ethic is inspiring. I hope you take enough time off to heal. Please don't injury yourself rushing to augment my spank bank

It takes only one hand to read your comics, I never figured it may take two or three hands to draw them.

It's all fun and games until you start to lose feeling in your hand....Ask me how I know.

Shinobi Sparrow · December 15, 2022

I often see you posting stuff over the weekend also. Maybe sticking to weekends as days off to cool those big porn generator arms of yours would do you some good. You know, the whole work life balance :)

As others say, don't overwork or stress yourself to the point of injury. even now I think most people would understand if a break on your part is taken/needed. If it helps you decide, the game developers for Deep Rock Galactic, apologized for a lack of updates in the upcoming week, as the team was taking the week off to spend time with family over holidays. The fans' reception was overwhelmingly positive and even encouraging it. so Take a couple of days of if needed.

Your health is more important than the speed that you can post so take it easy and get some rest.

RSI is weird. It aches a bit then goes away, spends ages barely noticeable or a minor annoyance and then one day it's just debilitating out of the blue. Should go away on its own though if you give the arm a proper chance to rest.

Don't push yourself buddy, you don't need to hurt yourself for our entertainment, learn to get some r&r every now and again

N
Nighthawk5470 · December 15, 2022

Don’t push yourself too far my friend, don’t want to permanently damage something.

Don't ignore that stuff. I once lost all feeling and grip strength in my hand working a factory operating a paint gun for 7 12s for a full month. A 1 year old could have pried my fingers open if I was resisting a hard as I can. Good news, both muscles and nerves can make a 100% recovery, if and only if you give them time to heal.

I tell ya, back in my day we use to have to work 15 hours a day. We were required to colour two entire comics and bind them before lunch and we didn’t have none of that their fancy shmancy computer thingamahjig. We had slate tablets and chisels, by golly, and we liked it that way. No idea where that came from, but hopefully it gets a chuckle or at least and eye roll out of you during your recovery.

You should get some rest, man. Someone like you who draws like this really needs a few days to rest. Take the time you need.

I’d recommend those massage guns that offer soft tissue attachments. I use it for carpal tunnel

J
Johnny Nielsen · December 15, 2022

I know that kind of feeling. I get it when I sit and game for a few days straigth. Best option is to take a "long" pause and do something else. Hug the wife, take a walk, don't sit down doing this for longer than a few hours at most for a week.

A wrist injury from too much p*rn? Quite a common injury, a Repetitive Satisfaction Injury or RSI I believe is the medical terminology.

E

Ice tea with lemon and honey take a break you more than deserve it

L
Leo G. · December 15, 2022

Take a break for sure. Also, try a tennis elbow strap. It slightly changes the position of ligaments in your forearm in ways that seem trivial, but really do help. I have this one and it's very comfy: https://www.amazon.com/Zofore-Tennis-Elbow-Effective-Relief/dp/B01LM1G12Q Dunno that it will help, but it's only $14 and will come in handy at some point.
