Shadow Wolves May 2026
The boyz discuss what they’re watching and reading before getting into the documentary De Palma (2015).

Black Dahlia is a huge bummer for me because the book is incredible and part of my favorite book series, The LA Quartet (which includes ABZ fave LA Confidential). Reread it this spring, still bangs!
Just finished the movie Bound (1996) by the Wachowskis. I think it should absolutely be added to the ABZ canon. Slick directing and cinematography, great performances and light years ahead of its time. You can really see why they got to make The Matrix off the back of this movie.
Just happy to hear Rodgers go off on the Boys finale.
The DePalma impressions remind me of the Mad Hatter from the old Alice in Wonderland 🫖
The joke about Gabrus’ Mom calling every show a “Netflix” is killing me. So relatable.
Friedkin Uncut is a pretty similar format, if you’re aching for a Friedkin edition of this doc. It’s great
Misfits of Science, including Courtney Cox
JCVD sounds like a mid-2020's joe rogan guest talking to pre-pandemic people
Euphoria is such trash. I can’t wait for Rodgers to watch it.
Hell yeah, I listened to the Will Patton Lonesome Dove and just finished the prequel Dead Man's Walk that he reads, which rules. Streets of Laredo is also great, though there's a different reader I didn't like as much. My library has a ton of McMurtry audiobooks so I've been listening to his Berrybender Narratives series read by Alfred Molina. They're not quite as good as the Gus/Call stuff but they're weird and brutal, about a family of British aristocrats trying to cross the American frontier in the 1830s. (I've been pulling weeds in my yard for like hours a day all month and listening to McMurtry novels is the only way I've gotten through it.)
I like the way JCVD incorporated the martial arts into his petaflop tonight.
“Judy ate her ass for lunch”. Neighbors is such a great documentary series. It’s a little hard to watch at first because the people are so off putting, but def stick with it. It gets better
Next Shadow Wolves, Gabrus will say, “I saw ‘Mandalorian and Grogu’…” I can’t wait. 😁
This is the format I love, crazy dude just talks about their whole filmography
I really enjoyed The Demon of Unrest, by Erik Larson and read by Will Patton. The author has this amazing talent for telling a story with a sense of time is running out, I feel like I can’t stop listening to find out what happens next (even though you know what’s going to happens). And the way Will Patton lingers on certain words or adds emphasis makes it even better.
Larson is one of the best at telling a non-fictional story in a cinematic manner
Rituals, a weird 1977 Canadian slasher about middle aged doctors being hunted by a mutilated WW2 vet who hates doctors in Northern Ontario is on Tubi right now. I think Action Boyz fans would appreciate it.
The JCVD of Delphi
#ABZReads Listening to the audiobook version of “Theo of Golden”, soothingly narrated by character actor David Morse, is a pleasant experience. When they eventually turn this novel into a film, I can imagine Mark Rylance, Anthony Hopkins, Ian McKellen, or even Al Pacino playing the part of Theo. Is ‘Theo of Golden’ a perfect book? No. It’s a tad “Hallmark-y.” However, it’s probably the best novel I’ve read in 2026.
I'm re-reading the novelization of The Terminator (1984) so we're basically the same person..
