🧙✨ Mages — They Look So Good… When They Cast! 🔥
Last time, we touched on mana affinity.
Each mage has a different affinity, making some elements easier to control than others.
Fire mages can control fire, and Water can create Ice, or water.
But affinity is only part of the picture—there’s also the question of power.
Spelltech has seven ranks of mages:
Rank 1: First-year initiates.
Rank 2: Second-year students.
Rank 3: Third-year students.
Rank 4: Graduates.
Rank 5: Combat mages.
Rank 6: Geniuses and instructors.
Rank 7: Archmages, also known as Wizards.
Usually, there’s around one Wizard for every ten instructors, a hundred combat mages, or a thousand mages from the lower ranks.
And the difference in power?
Well, an initiate can fire an earth bullet. An Archmage can literally move the mountain.
The journey to graduation brings some serious upgrades:
Fire: A flare becomes a fireball, then a fire wave or firestorm.
Water: An ice shard becomes a water blast, then a tidal wave or giant ice spikes.
Earth: Rock bullets become boulders, then earth walls or giant boulders.
Wind: A push becomes a minor tornado, then wind blades—or even flight.
Lightning: It starts with a spark… and ends with a thunderstorm.
But there’s more to being a mage than casting spells.

Wow! They have unique uniforms based on their elemental affinity. Still, I can’t help but notice that these students are heavily nerfed, even if they don’t realise it themselves 😅. Surely there must be someone... an Archmage or a villain, perhaps, who can control all the elements, just like Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender 😏🎈.
absolutely right, if you cought the previous magic post, about the archmage that are so legendary they change the course of the nation, they have the understanding of all magic, and can do it without incantations. I'll have a post later on to focus on the 7 ranks of magic. but in general an initiate (level 1) can barely focus and has very little mana, so they can do very simple short spells like spark, or flare. but the more they train they gain a larger mana pool, can focus better and cannel it. the difference between level 4 that is very good with 1 affinity, level 5 can alrady use 2 afinity and learn how to use shorter incantations. by level 6 they don't need any incantations and can access 2-4 affinities, and control them well. in theory every mage can access all types of magic, but their personal walls, and imagination blocks them. its similar to the difference between a spiritual initiate or a white belt in martial arts, they can do basic things but have hard time to combine or focus. while black belts can see the whole picture and use the minimal effort in order to gain that techique efficiently.
