šŸ“° PATREON Ɨ APPLE: The !@#$ery continues! -- This doesn't affect us (you and me) yet, since I have no "support me" anything yet, but it will affect you Elsweyr.

āš ļø As far as I remember, Apple is tacking on an additional fee onto all payments made to Patreon creators via the Apple Patreon app. It directly targets and affects you, the patron. To avoid this, NEVER subscribe to any Patreon creator via the Apple Patreon app. Subscribe through a browser or the Android App.

ā˜†// ⋆ TO SUMMARIZE FROM THE LITTLE I REMEMBER:

Apple saw how much money Patreon and creators* were making in subscriptions, and wanted a cut bigly.

To achieve this corpo cash-grab, they gave Patreon an ultimatum: force all creators to change the way we do patron subscriptions so that they (Apple) can tack on a 30%(?) fee to all payments made by you, the patron, or Patreon has to get off the Apple App Store.

To avoid this corpo cash-grab, NEVER subscribe to anyone via the Apple Patreon app. Subscribe through a browser or the Android App. Patreon recommended that us creators relay this bit to you, the patrons.

At least that was the old situation as I remember it.

I haven't read through the new developments post yet. I stopped after reading that a court apparently told Apple to !@#$ itself, and they did, but now they're back because they really, really, really, want that money. Did I read and sensationalize that correctly? 😹

ANYWAY!

I will expand this post later if necessary, after I read through everything I linked.

I'm modding right now and would prefer not to be distracted by this nonsense, since it doesn't actually affect you and I yet whether or not I make any changes to my current settings... because I have no payment options for anything yet, and even when I do, everything will still be publicly available.

I'm just giving you a #HeadsUp about the situation behind the scenes.
