π [S4S] Age Appropriate (Generic Tags) -- [5/24-3] β‘ There ain't a whole lot to say about these tags.
π BACK [π] to "Age & Gender Flags" β FORWARD [π] to "Fashion Choice"
β οΈ These posts will be re-dated so that they appear in order in the Collection.
ποΈ Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto, for helping me escape just when I needed to!

This post covers the "GENERIC TAGS" found in:
STUDIO (tab) Β» CATEGORIES (tab) Β» "Age Appropriate"
These tags are pointless unless you intend to ALLOW FOR RANDOM.

β// - WHEN TO USE THESE TAGS:
These tags only exist for randomization.
I personally don't use any of these tags on the custom content that I create and share because I always disable ALLOW FOR RANDOM, but who knows, I might take my own advice.
You can add these tags whether or not you intend to enable ALLOW FOR RANDOM.
You probably should add these tags so that simmers can BATCH EDIT your custom content to enable or disable randomization on the fly.
These tags should always match the AGE flag.
If the item has an age-specific mesh, then the tag should match the mesh (and the AGE flag should also already match the mesh).
β// - HOW THEY RELATE TO RANDOMIZATION:
If ALLOW FOR RANDOM is enabled and at least one of each of the following flags and tags are used together, then randomization will be enabled for all sims who match the profile:
Gender (from Age & Gender Flags)
Age Appropriate - YOU ARE HERE
Fashion Choice
Occult
Outfit Type
Example, randomization will be enabled for the FORMAL outfit category for all FEMALE sims of ADULT age who use the FEMININE "Clothing Preference" and are SPELLCASTER occult:
Age (from Age & Gender Flags) - Adult + Elder + Teen + Young Adult
Gender (from Age & Gender Flags) - Female
Age Appropriate - Adult
Fashion Choice - Feminine
Occult - Spellcaster
Outfit Type - Formal
You can "fine-tune" if the item randomizes onto "Teen" only, "Young Adult" only, "Adult" only, or "Elder" only by using one tag but not the others. EAxis just can't be arsed to do fashion properly and that's why our teenagers sometimes dress like grandpas and grannies, huzzah! <SHAKING MY HEAD>
β// - WHAT IT DO, PIKACHU:
These tags only exist for randomization.
These tags define which age groups an item will randomize onto. That's literally it.
β// - IN RELATION TO AGE & GENDER FLAGS:
Your AGE APPROPRIATE tags don't necessarily need to match your AGE flag (from AGE & GENDER FLAGS) but I believe your item must have the corresponding AGE flag for the selected AGE APPROPRIATE tag to work with randomization.
Example, randomization will be enabled for the YOUNG ADULT age group with the following flags and tags:
Age (from Age & Gender Flags) - Adult + Child + Elder + Teen + Young Adult
Age Appropriate - Young Adult
But randomization might not be enabled for the YOUNG ADULT age group with the following flags and tags:
Age (from Age & Gender Flags) - Adult + Child + Elder + Teen
Age Appropriate - Young Adult
β// - DISCLAIMER + PROGRESSION:
I do not work for EAxis and I am not a member of the S4S developer team.
I am not an expert and there are gaps in my knowledge.
But I have devoted a considerable amount of time trying to understand these PartFlags and Tags because I mean to fix the mess EAxis has created in CAS with my "CAS Overrides" project - every Pack, every Kit, every item in the BASE GAME. EAxis CAS is an incompetent mess and fixing the majority of it is as simple as checking or unchecking a box.
Some of this is straightforward.
Some of this you might already know.
Some of this might go against what you believe to be true or correct.
If you think (or know) that something I've said is incorrect, then comment and let me know and we can compare notes. If I am wrong or if we discover something new, then I will update the post accordingly.
I don't bite unless biting is the necessary response.

I always wondered what those were for. They seemed pointless.
They totally are! Except for randomization, which we already have too much of. πΉ
