βπ [EP16] BUGFIX: Lovestruck's Costume Box is STILL busted. [9/26] π Since I'm revisiting EP16, I'll FINALLY finish this too.
The Costume Box shipped with incompetent coding, locking some costumes to your Gender (Sex) or Clothing Preference. This is a problem for transframe sims and cisframe sims wanting to wear opposite frame costumes. This problem is exasperated by EAxis' continued use of improper Restrict Opposite Gender flags on TEEN+ clothing even after years of numerous Bug Reports.
Fixing the Costume Box does not fix the improper Restrict Opposite PartFlags on CAS items, which contributes to the incompetence of this thing. If you've got a transframe sim, you need this BUGFIX + CAS Overrides for this to work properly.
In the future I will include the necessary CAS Overrides and make this an all-in-one BUGFIX.

ββββ ββ βοΈ UPDATE CHANGELOG:
π 10/5/2024 - UPDATED WITH NEW CUSTOM INTERACTION!
The Clothing Preference Update reconfigures all trait-dependent costumes to match your Clothing Preference, allowing you to swap between feminine and masculine costumes by switching your Clothing Preference without bloating the pie menu with even more costume interactions.
To make switching your Clothing Preference a simple process, I've coded a new custom interaction for the Costume Box that allows you to do it on the fly. This custom interaction requires XML Injector.
I initially argued (and stand by the argument) that clothes should first and foremost MATCH YOUR PHYSICAL FRAME to avoid body distortions. However, with my encompassing gender variance theme in mind and my love of player choice, re-configuring this to match Clothing Preference instead of Physical Frame was a no-brainer. My big passion project (AnimXGenWear) also uses Clothing Preference to determine your animations, so it fits in nicely.
Additionally, I've removed some restrictions for which outfits you can apply specific costumes to and I've increased the costume duration time from 6 hours to 12 hours, which should give you enough time to boogie down. Keep in mind that any action that forces your sim to switch outfits will remove costumes.
There's a lot more to do here. Fixing this thing properly requires reconfiguring almost every costume buff because almost all of them are incompetently coded, and also requires at least 51 CAS Overrides siphoned off from my larger CAS Overrides projects to address the improper Restrict Opposite Gender flags. I can do it, but I also have other projects I'd like to complete, so this can wait a little longer.
I've added FIFTY-ONE (51) additional screenshots detailing just how broken this thing still is even with this modfix.
π 8/7/2024 - INITIAL RELEASE!
I've reconfigured all trait-dependent costumes to match Physical Frame instead of Gender (Sex) and Clothing Preference.
I'm done for now. I will revisit this after the next official update.
ββββ ββ β‘ PROGRESSION + β’οΈ TOXICITY:
β‘ 11/17/2024 - SIMS4ME HAS A MOD...
... that adds the Costume Box's interactions to wardrobes, etc. I hope they didn't use EAxis' code. I don't want to look. I don't want any more Costume projects until I finish my Boutique.
β‘ 10/5/2024 #3 - I JUST REMEMBERED...
We have a "Wear Costume" interaction for holidays and guess what, I checked, even that is more competently coded than the damnable Costume Box!
(β―'β‘')β―οΈ΅ β»ββ»
β‘ 10/5/2024 #2 - THE PRIZE FOR WORST CODED COSTUME GOES TO "MASK"!
"Mask" is one item. It doesn't randomize swatches and it forces your sim into their Formal outfit. No other costume changes your outfit. This is a neat function but why is it here?
I'm wasting time here at the expense of my other projects, aren't I?
I can't un-know how unnecessarily broken the Costume Box is.
Would my mind allow me to shelve this for a later date? Can I push the partial update I currently have and do some of my own stuff then come back to fixing EAxis' incompetence later, or will it gnaw at me until I fix it?
I could be working on a super awesome, Base Game compatible, on-sim immediate interaction boutique right now that everysimmer can enjoy instead of polishing this pack-specific piece of trash to perfection.
β‘ 10/5/2024 #1 - MOSEYING AHEAD WITH THE UPDATE. LET'S MAKE A LIST!
A list of sccreenshots so everyone can understand when I say !@#$'s busted, I mean !@#$'s busted.
β‘ 10/4/2024 #2 - Y'KNOW, I COULD ALL-IN-ONE THIS !@#$.
We've got the Custom Interaction and the Tuning Overrides all in the same package. It's done. I can push this update right now, but I could also import CAS Overrides for each of the costumes included in the Costume Box and make this a AiO standalone fix, no other mods needed. The EP16 costumes aren't the only costumes with improper RestrictOpposite flags, e.g. despite fixing all of this, the Alien costume still don't work right because it has improper RO flags. It's only 51 costumes total... but if I do that, then I might as well re-code all of this !@#$ properly. ARG! WHY! WHY COULDN'T I JUST PUSH THE UPDATE AND SAY "JOB'S DONE!" AND NEVER THINK ABOUT IT AGAIN?!
It's because βͺ I can fix it... (β―'β‘')β―οΈ΅ β»ββ» πΉ
β‘ 10/4/2024 #1 - I RE-DECIDED!
Make one and turn the other one into β‘ 8/7/2024 #2.
I want to fix this Box and be done with it forever. Apart from compatibility updates, I never want to see this thing again.
I'm extending the costume duration from 6 to 12 in-game hours and adding a custom interaction to the Box for swapping your Clothing Preference trait on the fly so you can easily switch between which Frame costume you get. This will require XML Injector to work.
β‘ 10/2/2024 #2 - EUREKA!
I've decided. Make two. But also, I'm re-configuring which trait is used. While I stand by my previous argument that CLOTHES NEED TO MATCH FRAMES, I want simmers to have the option to wear whatever they want without bloating the Pie Menu, and what better way than by taking inspiration from my other gender variance projects. If I use the Clothing Preference trait, then we have the option to change which costume we wear by changing our Clothing Preference trait, which can be swapped with a simple Pie Menu interaction like the Gender Options Pie Menu I'm working on for AnimXGenWear! Yes! ποΈ Now watch me whip! ... and I just read that Silento was charged with the murder of his cousin in 2021 and prior to that, had a history of domestic violence and depression, and that he was indicted by a grand jury for said murder. Well... that was not where I saw this entry going.
β’οΈ 10/2/2024 #1 - I HATE IT SO MUCH!
I truly dislike this Costume Box. The coding is so... why? So much why!
I just realized they coded the EP16-specific costumes for Traits because they didn't bother to add the Uniform Tags to the costume clothing items! It's such a mess! WHY?! How do I fix this? Do I make it dependent on my EP16 Overrides? Do I just clean up EAxis' nonsensical coding? What do I do here?!
Make two. Yep. One for simmers not using my CAS Overrides, and one for simmers using my- wait a sec, I forgot both still need CAS Overrides because the CAS PartFlags for these costumes are incompetent! WHY!
(β―'β‘')β―οΈ΅ β»ββ» πΉ
β‘ 9/27/2024 - UPDATE PEN- SERIOUSLY?!
Update 9/18/2024 modified all interactions to include a command to refresh the thumbnail BUT FIXED NOTHING! The interactions are still not coded for PHYSICAL FRAME!
The name of this mod is changing to BUGFIX. This is ridiculous.
β’οΈ 8/7/2024 #3 - CAUTION: CIVILITY DISTURBANCE DETECTED!
20 of the 51 costumes available in the Costume Box have incorrect trait tags in their Tuning configs. You CANNOT use GenderXY and ClothingPreferenceXY tags for this! CLOTHES NEED TO MATCH FRAMES! THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE! Why weren't these 20 costume Tunings configured the same way the other 31 are configured, which appear to be working fine without needing trait tags?
β‘ 8/7/2024 #2 - I'M JUST MUSING.
Why wasn't this box made Base Game Compatible or why wasn't a smaller item like this given to Base Game? I could probably code one, but I've never made a game object before. Something to consider after AnimXGenWear unless another creator runs with the idea first. I don't like the costume mods that are currently available.
β’οΈ 8/7/2024 #1 - ADDING INSULT TO INJURY!
Fixing the Costume Box Tuning DOES NOT solve the issue if the CAS item also has improper PartFlags, eg. Cupid will not work properly because it has improper RestrictOpposite PartFlags, so even when the Tuning is fixed, the costume you get with a transframe sim IS STILL WRONG! <flips all the tables and the chairs>
β’οΈ 8/7/2024 #0 - CAUTION IS ADVISED BECAUSE I AM PISSED OFF!
Last night... this morning before the sun came up and I retreated to hibernate, I popped in Live to check out my AnimXGenWear progress and the Blue Bear pops up in my game, and the Blue Bear tells me about the Costume Box and I get excited.
Costume Box?! You mean I can do away with those Costume mods?! Yes!
So I buy the Costume Box and I immediately go for the new Cupid outfit cause it's kinda cute except for the big LOW QUALITY heart they painted onto the top, and also I want to ensure my EP16_Lovestruck CAS Overrides are working.
LO AND BEHOLD, the Costume Box gives me the wrong Cupid outfit.
Que? I flagged and tagged this thing correctly! <squints> Did I !@#$ it up? Are they making RO flags mandatory just to !@#$ with me? I'm too sleepy for this right now. The sun is awake and I must sleep.
Afternoon rolls around and <yawns and bares fangs> I'm awake!
<insert troubleshooting> QUE?! I flagged and tagged this thing correctly! <squints> Did they muck up the Tuning? Hmm... <pokes around> What do I look for? ... Oh, that was good filter choice, yes! It has to be one of these. <squints> <squints some more because I've not yet popped in my optical enhancers> How- HOW?!
How does EAxis manage to code one thing correctly and the other thing wrong? Cause other costumes work, they give me the appropriate FRAME clothing but Cupid is coded incorrectly.
Wait no, <squints> IT'S ALL CODED INCORRECTLY!
Do these two lines of code mention "FRAME" anywhere? NO! THEY DON'T!
<T>102447<!--trait_GenderMale--></T>
<T>136879<!--trait_GenderOptions_Clothing_MensWear--></T>
ALL OF THIS IS CODED WRONG! It's supposed to be-... <flips table>
I'm trying- I'm tr- I'M TRYING to Initial Release a mod (AnimXGenWear) that I've wanted to make for years but didn't know how to until recently. I don't need the distraction and I certainly don't need the frustration of fixing EAxis' blunders.
We are allowed to swap our sim's PHYSICAL FRAMES in the game. Is it too much to ask that PartFlags and Tuning configs DON'T FUCK WITH MY TRANSFRAME SIM?
I need to fix this now because I assume ALL of the Tuning files for every entry in the Costume Box is coded INCOMPETENTLY and it's going to bother me.
Is someone on the Sims team transphobic?
I want to believe it's just a case of EA fucking around and reassigning members of the team Elsweyr and folks who aren't experienced with the game and the coding and the features are being forced to fill in the gaps.
I don't want to believe the Sims team is filled with bigots, BUT WE DID HAVE THAT ISSUE THAT WENT ON FOR LIKE FIVE YEARS WITH THE DARK SKINTONES!
The only consistency I see is that they keep fucking with transframe sims with incompetent PartFlags and now incompetent Tuning.
The spine fix I did - those Deformer Maps appear to only affect transframe bodies. I could be wrong because I don't know anything about Deformer Maps, but you haven't heard any cisframe simmers complaining that their spines are fucked up, have you?
This is what happens when I don't do my totes cute self-censoring.
I'm going to fix this.
