🐲 The Wearables™ Collection - That's not an island! It's a Kaijū! 💀 1/18/25 - DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING IN HERE. It's all getting updated, including my cover screenshot.

Heave ho, THIEVES! AND BEGGARS! NE-EH-VER SHALL WE DIE! - https://youtu.be/t9vX4HVw3cY

⋆⋅ HONOR AMONG THIEVES:

🍷 A special "Hey! Hi! Jell-O!" to my anonymous friend for the troubleshooting that led us here. I'm at my best when I'm in search of solutions for issues - unless there are no solutions to be found, then I'm just irritated and annoyed.

🌸 A special "Thank You!" to CCBriekel for giving me the go-ahead to modify their "Infant Hearing Aids" conversion! This completes the Wearables™ Hearing Aids set and allows me to shelve learning Bone-Blending for yet another day.

⋆⋅ EVERYTHING BELOW THIS POINT NEEDS AN OVERHAUL. ALSO, THIS POST WILL BE BACKDATED TO ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE.

This post will serve as a "table of contents" and info hub, or something, but we're not doing "master posts" like this anymore. Patreon sucks at formatting and they're always making it suck more, not to mention these posts tend to get too damn long.

────⋆⋅🌌 WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

Glasses aren't the end. I have a few more bits and baubles to pull under the Wearables™ umbrella. My LipGloss and HighLighter modifications are next.

Wearables evolved from "Oh hey, I made Wearable Hearing Aids" to "The Wearables™ Collection". A lot of my small Standalone things might end up in here however, Wearables™ is less about my Standalone stuff and more about the Tuning and Config modifications I'm doing to make the CASMenu possible. There's so much I want to do with this that goes beyond what it currently is, I just need to figure out how to do it.

────⋆⋅☠️ PAYSITESMUSTBE- SQUAWK!

⚠️ This is important. Read the 🎉 Release Notes below for pack requirements!

  • 📋 CASMenu Overhaul will be released when it's ready.

  • 👁️ Occult EyeColors

  • ✂️ Hairstyles & Eyebrows AKA Wings N' Tings, baby!

    • Wigs are Hats and equip to individual outfits. Color swatches work as intended. Thank you! I'm very welcomed. Eyebrows are Piercings and equip individually. They were made to Complete the Look™.

    • Unlike other Wearables, Hair DOES NOT have custom thumbnails. Sims4Studio gets finicky when trying to batch import that many thumbnails. I'm not manually importing that many thumbnails right now. I have multiple projects waiting to be completed. I might do a cover thumbnail, but that's a tomorrow type thing.™

  • 🦉 Glasses

    • 🎁 sej_CASWearGlasses_BG_SkinDetail_240710.zip

    • Why? Because I can.

    • These are SkinDetails and equip to all outfits automatically. They hide other glasses.

    • ⚠️ Conflict Warning - These use the same OutfitType as Wearables Occult EyeColors. You can't wear both together.

    • 👹 My Infant's face has changed. I have no idea how because I use the same Tray sim for all my thumbnails and I have no custom sliders installed. The result is my Infant thumbnails no longer match each other and it's irritating me.

  • 🦻🏼 Hearing Aid scallywags ☄️ are now in the brig!

    • 🎁 sej_CASWearHearAid_!AiO_240705.zip

    • CCBriekel's Infant Hearing Aids have been rebuilt from the ground up. I decimated LOD 0 to make LOD 1, 2 and 3. Breikel's cover thumbnail remains intact and I've duplicated it to complete the thumbnail set.

    • DELETE ALL OF THE OLD HEARING AID PACKAGES!

    • The custom CASMenu featured in the screenshots is not available yet, so you'll find the new ones in their "parent" categories: Face > Skin Details and Face Accessories > Piercings.

    • SkinDetail Wearables use DimpleLeft and DimpleRight and will replace any custom items that use this OutfitType. EAxis has not used this OutfitType since creating it.

    • Piercing Variants use LipRingLeft and LipRingRight and will replace any custom items that use this OutfitType. EAxis has not used this OutfitType since- deja vu?

    • Wearables equip to all outfits. Variants are worn individually AND override Wearables. They're configured like this so you can equip a Wearable for all outfits then equip a Variant if you want a different color on a specific outfit. If you want different colors on every outfit, just wear the Variants.

    • With the above in mind, there's a caveat. I did not configure these Variants to hide their Wearables, so wearing a Variant over a Wearable causes the Receiver Wire between the Microphone and the Speaker to lose it's transparency. This is because the texture is overlapping on top of itself. This was done intentionally because you may want to wear the Variants without the Wearables but with a different custom item that also uses the DimpleL/R OutfitType that the Wearables use. Get it? Great! Let's crack on!

    • For Earring compatibility and to achieve independent Left and Right colors, UV Maps for these Hearing Aids have been modified to use RingIndex and RingMed Left and Right. Yes, FOUR Ring UV slots were cannibalized for this. I did not want to use Bracelets because they are more visible than Rings.

    • With the above in mind, each of these Hearing Aids is configured with their appropriate ExcludeFlag to hide the Rings that their UV Map uses, which means you can still wear the Rings with the Hearing Aids but the rings will be invisible. Without the ExcludeFlags, textures would get screwed up on either the Rings or the Hearing Aids because one would override the other. Rings are tiny enough that their visibility is insignificant. With this configuration, you can still get your Crystal Creations ring buffs while wearing earring-compatible hearing aids.

    • The single Left and Right Hearing Aid are now independent of each other. Left uses Dimple/LipRing Left and Right uses Dimple/LipRing Right. You can wear them together to achieve independent colors on each ear. <hip thrust> Piranha Gun! OH YES!

    • I've flagged these for the Nude OutfitCategory. If this causes issues in Live, please let me know. I did this because I read some Hearing Aids can be worn in the shower and while swimming.

────⋆⋅🎉 TAKE HEED OR SUFFER THE PLANK, SCALLYWAG!

  • ⚔️ Wearables require their corresponding Content Pack!

  • 🚀 Pilfered under Update 06/06/2024 - PC: 1.107.151.1020 / Mac: 1.107.151.1230.

  • ⚙️ Outfit Safety is ❌ NEIN!

    • These are all Standalone packages. Removing them will remove the item from your outfits.

  • 🧬 I will revise and reforge these packages as necessary, but my CAS mods usually weather official game updates without issue.

  • 🧬 These are PERFECTION packages!

    • All meshes and textures are REFERENCED.

    • RegionMaps and custom thumbnails are EMBEDDED.

    • A future update could change these to FULLY EMBEDDED packages if EAxis ever fiddles with the referenced resources.

  • 👽 Archives now include a custom folder containing the mod files.

    • Extract "#Sej" directly into your Mods folder and choose YES when prompted to replace files. Package updates will always have the same name as the previous release. Archives have version suffixes for easy backup.

    • Inside "#Sej" is a hidden DESKTOP.INI configuration file that prevents Windows Explorer from auto changing the View settings if there are more images than other files in the folder. It should work as intended on all recent versions of Windows. This DESKTOP.INI configuration file is included in EVERY archive that contains images. It is safe to overwrite this file. It is also safe to delete this file.

    • Consider the new "#Sej" folder as my way of helping you keep your Mods folder in order.

    • The primary purpose of the "#" in the folder name is to keep any Overrides contained within prioritized in the load order, however, other folders with special characters like "!" in front their names are higher in the special character order. Rename my folder as necessary to get it to the top of your Mods folder if you use any of my Overrides. I need to verify that folder names take priority over filenames and that a random loose !___.package won't override my override.

────⋆⋅✒️ FOR THE LOVE OF ANECDOTES!

👁️ Occult EyeColors

  • ... kicked off the concept of Wearables and allowed me to achieve Wearable Hearing Aids.

My anonymous friend presented an issue - her vampire child's Vampire eyes were constantly switching to Human eyes. We've still not solved the issue or even know why it's happening but Wearable Occult EyeColors band-aids the problem. They work, and they work well.

✂️ Wings N' Tings

  • ... don't really belong here but they've been absorbed into Wearables because they have their own entry in my Work-in-Progress Wearables CASMenu overhaul that's featured in most of my screenshots now.

When SP48_GothGaloreKit was released, I was instantly irritated by the horrendous PartFlags and The Bloat and instantly smitten with the nostalgia. I absolutely adore some of the items that came with SP48 but my sim is a redhead and it clashes with the Goth aesthetic. "How do I get different color hair on this one specific outfit" was the question. Wigs and Eyebrow overlays were the eventual answer.

There exists a 6 year-old tutorial on Tumblr explaining a method to convert Hair to wigs. While I temporarily incorporated that method, this ain't that.

PERFECTION was forged here and I am very proud of what I achieved, as "basic" as it might be.

Additionally, wigs solve the issue of breaking the Hair Link when hair is changed on individual outfits. I've still not typed up the convoluted tutorial for re-linking hair. It ain't cozy-friendly.

🦉 Glasses

  • ... tend to be brought up whenever folks talk about Wearable Hearing Aids.

This one is less important to me even as a glasses wearer myself, but I've still made one glasses from every age group into Wearables to show it can be done, and because I can.

🦻🏼 Wearable Hearing Aids

  • ... is something I keep seeing folks ask for.

The moment I cracked Wearable EyeColors (which exists already in another form as eyecolor "contacts", the "cracking" was really getting into the Medical Wearables category) a light-bulb went off, "True Medical Wearable Hearing Aids? It can't be this easy, can it?" Et voila! Turns out is was that easy. Still makes me wonder why no one ever did it before.

  • Where Hearing Aids and Glasses are concerned, personally I'm fine with the way EAxis made them. I'm of the belief that the bigger issue folks have with the EAxis Hearing Aids is that they were flagged and remain flagged AllowForRandom ENABLED and the game treats them like any other accessory, which is kinda insulting. A simple PartFlag update would have eased frustrations for folks who wear Hearing Aids and those who don't, but EAxis- y'know what, this has been mostly positive so far so let's not go there.

It's all possible, y'know. Those wheelchairs folks keep asking for would take some time and maximum effort, but it can be done. We have bicycles. We can have wheelchairs. A full range of custom animations locked to a custom walking animation that puts the sim in a seated position in a custom wheelchair item <takes a breath> is currently beyond my capabilities, but it is possible. Don't accept the "it's not possible, it's too hard, engine limitations" nonsensical excuses. The Sims 4 has the potential to be a lot more and a helluva lot better than it currently is 10 years on, which is why it's so disappointing.

📋 Wearables CASMenu Overhaul

  • ... is meant to compliment my Wearables and make CAS less irritating. It adds a new CASMenu category and a bunch of sub-categories for my Wearables.

With it installed, Wearables will be hidden in their "parent" category the same way EAxis' Hearing Aids don't show under Piercings, and shown under their custom Wearables subcategories.

I dissected Crilendar's CASMenu mod to understand how it was done and then I built one from the ground up. The CASMenu that gets released to the public will likely be scaled back a little because EAxis has crippled some functions. For example, I've unrestricted the Facial Hair CASMenu category for female sims, but the Facial Hair don't work properly - it keeps disappearing. I've read that Facial Hair disappears on transframe sims too so there might be a connection. I believe there's a bit of code somewhere, Elsweyr, that's screwing with it. Until I find it and smash it repeatedly with my Thunder Hammer, I have to disable the category for the public release. Sigh. I don't like having two versions of things I work on.

────⋆⋅📖 THE CAVEAT & THE CAVIAR

The downside of "Wearables", and I'd like to believe the reason why EAxis made their Hearing Aids the way they did (excluding the unnecessary AFR flags), is that they equip ONE color across all outfits. Different colors on individual outfits require an additional color overlay item similar to what I've done with my Wearable Occult EyeColors and their variants. It's not terribly difficult to do. The difficulty I have is working within the confines of the categories that are available to us.

If I were EA_Sejian, I'd just- had EAxis made a full range of new categories for Medical Wearables, I would be a happy boy, but they didn't, so I'm a sad and irritated boy.

As it is, EAxis Medical Wearables use "two" subcategories. Hearing Aids are Earrings and Glucose Patches are a bunch of Tattoo subcategories, meaning they override Earrings and Tattoos.

My new Wearables use SkinDetails and Face Piercings for two reasons, one is because there are a few truly unused subcategories in these (like Lip Ring Left and Right), and two is because the Face Piercings EAxis gave us are kinda fugly and who really cares about Moles and Skin Creases? Not me! No siree!

I CAN REPURPOSE ALMOST EVERYTHING (I'll leave the Freckles and Nose Rings alone because they're less fugly and I kinda like them) FOR MINE OWN MACHINATIONS, MWAHAHAHA!

... Is that all I've gotta say for myself? Yeah maybe! Have a snek! 🐍

P.S.: I have no idea what the pirate theme was about. #NotSorry
