Using my actual phone as the in-game camera

Quick one from the lab.

I've been building something I'm genuinely into: using your actual phone as the camera inside the game. You hold the phone, point it where you want to look, and the in game camera follows. It feels way more like actually filming than dragging a mouse around.

The clip here is me messing with it on Mobile Cam, filming the car from the inside like I'm holding a real camera. Raw gameplay, no edits.

Here's why I think it's worth doing. The ways people already do this are old and pretty limited, mostly because they only really work through NeckFX. The method I'm using drops those limits and opens the door to a lot of new adjustments. More immersion from here is just a matter of more time in development.

"Why not just use VR?" Because VR renders the game in a completely different way. It costs a lot more performance and it changes some of how the game actually looks (think Trinus VR, or a proper headset). What I'm going for is different: motion that feels close to VR, but with the full graphics you already see on your monitor. Best of both worlds, made for cinematics.

Is it just another head tracker? Yes and no. The old limitations aren't there anymore, and the tracking is tied directly into Mobile Cam and Walking Mod (little spoiler).

Still in development and I'm dialing in the feel, but it's already at the point where it's just fun to shoot with. More soon.
