This was around the time of the Robert Maxwell pension fund scandal which is why Del called it Maxwell money. And Thora Hird was a veteran British comedy actress who presented the BBC religious programme Songs of Praise at the time so that why Del told the Vicar she'd be asking FOR HIS autograph. Please don't feel bullied into a schedule. People can get over excited about this stuff but your daily lives take priority.

I think I prefer Part 2. Always love the Thomas the Tank Engine wallpaper; it echoes back to my own childhood. 1994 baby here. I was too also blonde... well fair hair as a kid with two brown-haired parents, and it grew darker as I aged. Best parts were any scene between Damian and Rodney and Trigger, as always the scene stealer. I think that's just Del's persona to be fair, with him flirting and nearly playing on the edge, but I don't think the intention is to portray him as cheating or actively chasing other women. I think it's usually meant to be played for laughs or shock value. Even the scenes with Marlene, when he kisses her, the intention seems to be more about annoying Boycie than suggesting any genuine romantic interest. I don't think there's necessarily any romantic connotation intended. It's over exaggerated affection. I'll admit it makes me uncomfortable, and I don't particularly like it and do probably wish it was written different now he is a father and true to Raquel, but Del is also a very tactile person. He even puts his arm around the guys, like Boycie at the bar. So I don't think every instance of him being physically affectionate or flirtatious should be automatically be interpreted as him pursuing someone.

Never laughed so much as with this episode and the last episode

"Only Fools and Horses : The Lost Archive" is on tomorrow (20th) on U&Gold in the UK (not for Mike & Jess obviously, until they have finished the series).

Steve is right. This was a proper "everything goes right episode" which is a real tonic to the more brutal issues explored in "fatal extraction"

The joke with the flat since the first series is that del would sell anything. The tables and chairs always change. Now to the point where del would trade a sofa for a bench to make a few quid. Strongbow is a brand of cider in the UK :)

Del is just a fictional character, the flirting shouldn't bother you so much, remember its not real. Just enjoy the show

You have to remember that Del boy is the quintessential Cockney loveable rogue and his behaviour are strange to us now back in the 80s and 90s I knew so many Deboy types never really meaning any harm that always a little over the top. I think it’s a cultural thing.

My theory why Rodney is so paranoid and scared of Dameon is because hes lowkey still smoking Mary Jane, Could we get part 2 asap pleeeeease. this is by far one of the most popular shows on Regeneration Nation TV. I would not mind the second episode taking priority over one of the other shows just for a day 😅

Just a heads up, the next episode comes in multiple types, the one you want is the one without the laugh track as that is the original. Also, the original episode is the one that starts with Status Quo music and NOT Tears for Fears. So if you start watching and you hear Tears for Fears as soon as it begins, it is not the best version, you want Status Quo as that is the unedited one. I can tell you where to find it if you need it as it is easy to find online.

Part 2 is an absolute classic! As many others have said, its like a movie without the canned laughter, very different from any other OFAH episode

I know you guys were considering Peter Kay's Car Share but it's so music heavy you might find it difficult with YT restrictions. Maybe it could be a Patreon exclusive?

Part 2 is David Jason's favourite episode, it really does showcase his outstanding acting abilities, you're going to love it.

Mike, you've got to remember Del Boy is written as a re-blooded, long-time bachelor with lots of failed engagements/relationships and the flirting with other women is done for comedy. The other characters Boycie, Alan, etc,. don't take him seriously. Believe me it's not because of the time/era, that obvious flirting didn't wash in reality then, and still doesn't.

Who noticed Del ends up drinking out of the cup he complained about to Sid?

Make sure you get the full movie length version of part 2 as theres 2 other versions both cut one with laughter and one without, the one you want is approx 93 minutes long

Del calls Rodney's pension "Maxwell money" : it's a reference to Robert Maxwell who stole from his employees' pension funds at the Mirror Newspaper Group. This was revealed after Maxwell died falling off a yacht in November 1991, so it was still hot news when this episode was broadcast in December 1991.

I really don't understand why some people are making such a fuss over not getting a double episode. Personally, I wasn't expecting one anyway. Mike and Jess made it clear that Saturdays are busy for them, and towards the end they said they'd see what happens next week. Yes, we're paying Patreon subscribers, but that doesn't mean we're entitled to dictate their time. They've got lives, families and other commitments, just like the rest of us. There's nothing wrong with being disappointed, but some of the reactions are ridiculous. We all enjoy their content, but the last thing we should want is for them to feel pressured into making videos just to keep everyone happy. We're entitled to what we've been promised, not whatever extras we happen to fancy. A bit of patience and understanding wouldn't go amiss. 🙄

Definitely a culture clash here. Your side of the pond it's seen as crossing a relationship boundry, whereas here, and more so in decades past, it was seen as 'harmless flirting' within inner circles . No right or wrong, just different perspectives. Looking forward to part 2 guys!

A few American connection references that im not sure M&J got. Rodney and Dan Quayle, Quayle, Vice President to Bush Snr was seen as a bit of a Trigger for some of the things he came out with. And Maxwell Money refering to Robert (Or Rupert) Maxwell (father of Jeffrey Epsteins Madame Ghislane) ripping off the pensions.

Dels scheming is on steroids this episode, it's next level, he's done the Vicar, then Mickey, copped a kiss with Cassy' mum, did Rodney for his Maxwell money (Maxwell meaning a corrupt businessman who stole peoples pension money in the UK) then he did cassy without her knowledge of what he PLANNED and then did himself without knowing it when Raquel heard him on baby monitor,finally doing Rodney for a second time getting the 2nd ticket to MERICA. Del would never cheat, he's not the type and Raquel is very secure in herself and in her relationship, Del may look but he don't touch and being a bit saucy and flirty is not a problem with older generations, unlike today's generations who would literally cheat after reading their vows or have a insecurity breakdown if their partner looked at their own reflection in the mirror for a second too long. If you're truly secure in yourself and your partner you would never worry about such pointless thing's. There is nothing malicious inside Delboy. Different time's,different mentality. My advice for part 2 is to just unplug your brain and go with it.

We fly out to Orlando and drive down to Everglade city to do air boating, then drive on down to Key West next month. Can't wait.

Del is what we call in our country a "Cheeky Chappy" or "Jack the Lad" or similar. He loves the ladies but he would never cheat on Raquel, he would happily pinch a girl on the bum but nothing too much more than that.

Normally, I don’t think a lot of women would want to hear that they are like their mother in laws. In Del’s case, however, he deifies his mum, so it’s hard to think of a higher compliment. Then again, anyone who has heard him talk about her will know that Del has a very skewed view there.

Richard Branson’s cameo was included because they were going to be using Virgin to get to America. He was meant to have dialogue, but he was such a terrible actor, he couldn’t get it right. In the end, they had to cut because while they were trying get his line right, he was holding up his own plane.

Two of my mates in school were identical albino twins, ever since they were little the one would dye his hair so they could be different. We used to joke and say he was the milkmans baby because neither of their parents had green hair..
