Gavin & Stacey - S3E3 'Cardiff'

Think a couple have mentioned it, but Matthew Baynton (who plays Deano on this show) co-wrote and starred in a show with James Corden called 'The Wrong Mans' which is really good! Been ages since I watched it, but I remember it being very funny. Given how much you're enjoying Gavin & Stacey I can see you liking that a lot too. Basically about two office workers that end up on the run from some kind of criminal organisation despite having nothing to do with them. I'd recommend. James Corden gets a lot of hate these days and I don't pay enough attention to celebrity news or his career in America to know how much of it is justified, or whether people are just hopping on the hate bandwagon. Even if he is a bit of a dickhead, he's no doubt a very talented comedy writer and created some amazing characters!
What is never really talked about is how normal it is to take a year or more to get pregnant and even more often you will likely loose a couple of pregnancies along the way. There are alot like Stacey out there that think there is something wrong because no one talks about it until you live it. Then you find out nearly every woman around you has suffered the same at some point. That doesn't mean there's something wrong. Most go on to have several kids. A heads up would have been great ladies! We need to talk about it more.
Hi 👋 from Cardiff! 😃🏴🇬🇧
Love Bryn with the boys, the man’s a hero
James Corden and Ruth Jones are currently filming a new comedy a few streets away from me currently, saw James earlier today in Sovereign Harbour Eastbourne
Lived in Cardiff for a long time so it’s crazy to see all the old haunts I used to frequent. The Welsh love this show and you can see why! It’s pretty good
Great reaction cheers
Jess dry heaving from seeing a single drip of saliva is insane to me lol
I know its crazy, bit over the top
Nessie is basically the Paulie Gaultieri of Barry
Please forgive me for making another suggestion, but this isnt for a particular series, but more of a format. I know not all of the series are hitting the spot recently with yourselves, so I'd like to suggest picking a day when you react to different things. So for example, you could check out the first episodes of series that have been recommended, with no commitment to a full series watch. You could also watch certain episodes of things that are baked into British culture (for good or for ill), and few examples I can think of off the top of my head would be things like "The Word", "Eurotrash", "Grange Hill" etc. It could also give way to maybe watching one off documentaries from David Attenborough, Brian Cox, Louis Theroux etc. You could call it Mix-it-up Monday or something. It would allow you to sample stuff without committing, and give you new things to watch all the time. Anyway, I'll away and leave you in peace.
First time I noticed Bryn has an Aston Villa scarf up on the wall in the boys playroom.
Ness does tell Bryn that 'he'd had his chance'

“The Wrong Mans” is a limited TV series starring both Mathew Baynton and James Corden. It is worth checking out.
Matthew Baynton- Deano is also Dobbys ex incase you didn't realise.
Has anyone said Stacey is annoying and childish yet? It rarely comes up.
Yeah and moaning about Ness being horrible. It's really interesting.
I love being Welsh ❤️
A side fact you may be interested in although it's maybe been mentioned before not sure - Melanie Walters who plays Gwen recently appeared on 'Strictly Come Dancing' which is the original British version of what you guys would call 'Dancing with the Stars' :)
We need This Country on Regeneration Nation TV
you guys need to look into the other shows by the Gavin and Stacey cast. Nessa and Dawn are in nighty night, and smithys sister is great in two pints 🍺🍺
“She didn’t get that from Gwen” do you not remember when Gwen saw Jean?! Also what did Nessa do to that guys brother, still on crutches? 😂
After the series has finished check out ‘Gavin and Stacey - A Fond Farewell’ it shows the making of it and how Ruth and James (Nessa and smithy) wrote the show, they are very clever writers and it’s an emotional watch! X
Please start reacting to The Royle Family (British sitcom) or the UK Celebrity traitors series 1. Both BBC
They didn’t like Alan Partridge, they won’t like The Royle Family. I find a lot of American reactors struggle with that type of show. I’d love to see them watch Benidorm.
Not sure why people like nessa she's horrible, and don't even get me started on Stacey. I would never have said smithy would be my favourite character lol
Do you like Pam or Gwen?
As a big Aston Villa fan, all I can say is... Up the Villa! =D
"She didn't get that from Gwen." Haha Mike forgetting about Jean already.
Getting ahead of myself but be sure to watch the documentary 'a fond farewell' after the 2024 final episode! Great way to wrap things up
Agree!
Guys I will literally cash app you £400 if you expedite a Him & Her reaction 🥴😫😅😅
Christ give it a break
I LOVE WEDNESDAYS FOR THESE REACTIONS!!!
I can't believe we're halfway through the last series. The first episode still seems so recent.
Bit selfish there Stacey! And utterly manipulative. This is NOT all right.
Tell reddit :P
Am I the only one that doesn't care she was trying to get pregnant? It's what women should do. If my ex said that to me I wouldn't care :/ Like well at least you thought of me as a suitable partner lol.
Women should lie to you about using contraception so that you get them pregnant without your knowledge or consent? Are you insane?
That song that was playing in the club when Bryn was dancing was ‘remedy’ by little boots - on that same little boots album is ‘meddle’ which is the tune used in friday night dinner between scenes. 😁
This episode seems a little quieter than usual. I just checked against the last episode and I think that was definitely louder.
Jess shouting Oohh! was like Stacey doing the robot 🤣
Uncle Bryn’s house was purchased by a couple of fans a few months ago who have turned it into an Air BnB, done up completely as it is in the show and full of Gavin & Stacey nods and easter eggs.
It's also in Trinity Street, which is a pretty steep hill. I drive up it every day on my way to work.
It's like she is using the baby situation to make things better when, really, it wouldn't change anything. I say find a decent home first and then possibly revisit the chances of having a baby. She always seems to be in such a rush, like, I don't know, life is not exciting enough for her in the quieter moments. When she said "Exactly. What is wrong with me, Gav?" - I was like oh, so you're somewhat aware your nuts and in a way that kind of makes it worse, but instead they played the pity card with the possibility of her being unable to conceive.
How to turn the audience against a character speedrun holy shit lol. It's like Dobby from Peep Show again. With the Dine and Dash comment. If they are bubbly and fun, we can excuse their awful behaviour. How am I supposed to root for this couple? That's what the writers want... right? :L
To off-set this a little, I genuinely think Bryn has grown to become one of my favourite comedy characters in the new shows I've watched. Sue White has to be another lol
I really hope we see a Him & Her reaction series on here one day! It has the guy who plays Budgie as one of the main characters and also Joe Wilkinson (Kevs brother in Derek, Postman Pat in After Life) and is such an underrated show! Think you guys would enjoy it
I recently rewatched that, it is awesome and also has Kerry Howard (sister of Russell)
Can’t wait for fury to whoop aj
It's crazy how Stacey is the worst character in the show. So irritating
Bit harsh.
this is why i hate stacey, she is so childish, needy and very manipulative
Hate is a strong word. She is a bit all over the place but we see she has a good heart too.
“Who’s going to eat the Ricicles?” Ricicles were, essentially, Rice Krispies with sugar, they were discontinued by Kelloggs as a drive to reduce sugar in their cereals. I was gutted, I absolutely loved them 😢
I’d have gone for the Ricicles too
Back in my day it was called Teafee and its disgusting
If you like Mathew Baynton (Deano) you should check out Ghosts (the original UK version). The cast of Ghosts are all writers who used to write and star in the the kids show Horrible Histories. Ghosts is definitely a modern UK classic and there is a film coming out really soon
The film is released next week.
When my wife was pregnant with our first, I knew before she did! She was testing regularly but one morning she was in a rush before work, did a test and thought it was negative and threw it in the bathroom bin. I saw it after she’d left, picked it up and lo and behold, 2 lines, so I told her she was pregnant!
The Deano actor is brilliant in Taskmaster .. if you decide to watch anymore of that show ☺️
The end of this episode with Stacey did really irritate me but then it is brushed over when she says she’s worried she can’t have children. But it doesn’t do her “crazy” image any good 😂 and I agree, the episodes have always seemed too short, I want to know more!!
Going KFC? Getting some corn on the cob?
I was thinking exactly the same 🤣
Stacy flipping it back on Gav and saying 'what's wrong with me?' when she admitted to not being on the pill for over a year without asking him is crazy work.
Yeah it’s like, you feel bad for her and all, but that’s so manipulative. Idk
I've got tickets to the fight!! Can't wait!!
What does the 44 mean?
Barry is a town rather than a city, that’s the joke with the contrast to Cardiff which is the capital of Wales. Barry has a population of about 55,000 and Cardiff 380,000
Although St Davids, also in Wales, has a population of less than 2,000 and is a city. Being a city in the UK has nothing to do with size: this confuses us here, so must seem utterly crazy to Americans. I think they regard a "city" as any dense urban area. Here, a place is a city if the King says it is. Although nowadays he would only say so if advised to do so by some civil servants after the locals had worn them down with petitions etc.
The Principality Stadium (Then known as the Millennium Stadium) is the site of one of the best days of my life. 2005 League 1 playoff final Wednesday vs Hartlepool... I've got Joshua, by the way Mike. I think Usyk might have broken Fury.
I went to the Millennium stadium in 2005 aswell, but for the FA Cup semi final. Man Utd absolutely battered us (Newcastle). The long journey home drunk was easily the worst of my life 🤣
There is a documentary or two about it, and a book if you want to look more into it when you’ve finished
Aston Villa are football club based in Birmingham. It is weird that she would wear their shirt 🤣
Maybe it's got something to do with when she was goal keeping coach for Coventry City haha
“If I don’t understand it, you definitely won’t!” 😂
