Jess, impressive attempt a Nessa's 'What's Occuring (ukaeeerin)?' Nessa has a South-east Wales estuary accent (ex-Stacey fiancee Ahmed had one in the pub in an earlier episode) which covers the town of Barry and close neighbouring cities of Cardiff and Newport all along the coast of the Bristol Channel, covering only about 20 miles. Bryn, Gwen and Stacey have a more Western/Southern Valleys Welsh accent, I think the story is they are not natives of Barry.

Fish and chips with curry sauce is heavenly, but I'm from the north, so it's a given. 'Something Stupid' was indeed Frank Sinatra with his daughter Nancy. It came out in in 1967, the year before Nancy Sinatra appeared in the movie Speedway, starring a certain Mr. Presley Hope you're getting there Mike and past the worst of it.

I'm pretty sure I heard the bit where the scan bed lowered really slowly was a scene they kept bursting into laughter - if you look you can see Ruth Jones fighting for her life to hold back the smile.

Fun fact Rob Brydon (Bryn) and Ruth Jones (Nessa) actually went to school together, and Rob gave Ruth her first driving lesson.

Regarding your comments at the end - I think that one of the distinctions between British and American comedy shows, is that in British ones there is much more permission to have a pause or awkward silence. In American shows, it's often considered dead air if something isn't happening, just like with the radio.

My fave little detail in this ep is after Pam tells the story of Smithy's mum and Pauline the headmistress, Smithy's sister then says his mum is out for lunch with Pauline.

I've never understood the hatred towards this show, particularly from people who haven't even seen it, all because James Corden is in it. Well he knocks this role out of the park and that's a fact. It's a lovely, funny, heartwarming show, and I'll tell you for why...It's got heart.

Hi Mike and Jess from the UK. 🇬🇧. I’m a nurse. I worked at this hospital when they were shooting scenes at this hospital. I worked night shifts. It’s Caerphilly Miner’s Hospital. Now closed down though. It was a cottage hospital so they merged it with others to make a big hospital. Just outside Cardiff. Watching this took me straight back.

Speaking of BJJ, Mike, did you see that weird rant Jonah Hill went on? He has basically taken 3 lessons and he is talking about how he isn't "the fat guy from Superbad" any more, and he will "Annihilate" anyone if they want some 😂 I almost want to take him up on the offer, just for the story. It's the sort of misled confidence an 8 year old has after going to one Karate lesson.
