Jessica Hynes co-wrote and also stared in Spaced along side Mark Heap, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost etc She was hilarious as Daisy
Mark Heap is coming back to my Town (Axbridge, Somerset) next week filming the 2nd series of 'Can You keep A Secret' along with Dawn French. Can't wait to see him act.
Please watch stath lets flats with Jamie Demetriou
Paul Ritter was the same age as my Dad. This hit hard.
Always makes me sad to see Paul like this, my mum had the same puffy steroid cheeks shortly before she died, no disrespect, you just know how poorly he must have been but still chose to do this. Cancer sucks. Shit on it. RIP 🥰
Cant believe i only just saw this. Amazing send off. Goodbye bambinos
That was brilliant. One of the best written and cast comedy shows. To make 36 episodes that all revolve around a family getting together for dinner and make it funny, dark, heart warming all at the same time. Any of the characters (apart from Jackie) could easily have been disliked if they hadn’t got the casting so right. The only one I’d say they got wrong was Jonny’s mate Ben.
Tasmin was probably sporting her haircut that way as she worked on a series being in a band with older ladies. Which is worth checking out; its called Riot Women.
The actor who plays Johnny’s boss Nick the estate agent he’s great in Ghosts UK they are doing a Ghosts movie can’t wait, also I should watch green wing I've
My dad is similar especially when it’s sunny he has cut of jeans made in to shorts and his top off lol it’s a dad thing I guess lol
Fitting tribute to a great show and a great actor
What is replacing FND in the Friday slot, do we know yet?
I’m Alan Partridge.
Thanks for mentioning that the actress was sylvie from loki. I just watched loki again and kept thinking I recognised her from somewhere. Never in a million years I thought it was Friday night dinner even though I've seen this show about 10 times
I was so upset when he died -- fun fact Paul was in Harry Potter The Half Blood Prince. He is a british comedic Icon xx
Interesting little fact for you. THe lady with raven black hair and blue eyes who talks about being 49 and still behaving like a kid at her mums house. is Claudia Winkleman . IN real life she is the real sister of the actress who plays 'Big Suze' in Peep Show
I feel like Paul’s passing as celebrity passings go, is a little forgotten but also so damn saddening. Thinking about it I think it’s because I see a lot of my own dad in that character. His character as Martin was beyond perfect. His acting was sublime. What a lovely lovely man. His death really does break my heart. His memory undoubtedly deserves to live on. RIP Paul.
My dad died late last year from brain tumours. One of the last shows we watched together shortly before he passed was this one. I cared for him at the end and each day we would watch a couple of episodes. Martin made him laugh so much and his favourite shirt became the “hello bambino’s” one I bought him. Love the show, love the memories. X
Claudia Winkleman (The lady with the black hair and fringe) is Sophie Winkleman's (Big Suze from Peep Show) half sister.
She's also Auntie Vals 2nd cousin (or similar)
I'm watching a show called No Offence at the moment and Paul is in it and he's so good
Thank you guys I'm English and was always put off with this show because of the name I thought it was just another reality cooking show lol so never watched it on British TV. So started watching it on your patreon and it's definitely in my top 5 of best sitcoms . Shalom 💚💜
You should replace it with One Foot In The Grave. Another classic comedy.
Im not sure if you guys saw it but there was on of these specials for the Inbetweeners if you haven't reacted to it I would love to see that. RIP PAUL RITTER
Thankyou for making every Friday more entertaining than the last. Hopefully I will watch you guys again in the future if you ever watch any other shows such as bad education (my favourite)
RIP Paul Ritter!!
What a journey!
this got an american remake and from what i've heard and seen it was bad very very bad
When will they stop
Brilliant! I really did enjoy this one tonight.
Damn the first 'shalom jackie' post-it note picture was the flat underneath mine at university. weird seeing that!
great send off! 👍✌️
Sad we won't have anymore Friday Night Dinner's, RIP Paul Ritter. Love the content as always 🥰
Watch Chernobyl with Paul Ritter in it. Vile character. Great actor.
Think they mentioned they have watched that before
I'm extremely sad that Paul Ritter is gone, and also a little angry about it, because it's just completely unfair. I just can't seem to fully accept it. It was amazing to watch this documentary and see the early clips, because I hadn't noticed how their appearances changed over time, ie I'd forgotten Paul still had some dark hair in the earlier ones. It was good to know they got on so well too, because so often you hear the opposite.
Loved this. Makes me want to watch it all again.
Have they mentioned which show is replacing this next week?
Should be I’m Alan Partridge unless something has changed.
thank you 🫶
shalom. shit on it . punk rockers
Was good to see this. What's taking the Friday slot from now on then?
I’m Alan Partridge.
@17:54 thats the great Matthew Holness aka "Garth Marengi" of Darkplace! You should see his acting chops on the follow up show with dean learner as well...very impressive. He also appeared in the Haunting of Bly Manor, randomly enough
Never watched this series until you two lovelies reacted to it. What a privilege to be able to enjoy all together.
I love Mr Morris’ hat. Harry Landis started his acting career in 1955. Died a few years ago at 95 yrs old.
Ah Matthew Holness, Garth Marenghi himself
So lucky to have seen Paul Ritter in the play ART at the Old Vic theatre back in I think 2018 or 2019. Astonishingly good actor. One only has to look at the breadth of roles he played from dark drama to full on comedy. Shit on It!
Great reaction 🙏 I’d never seen this, no idea how I missed it.. might have been at an interview for the one way Mars trip 🤔🙂.. Mark Heap/Jim was great in Green Wing comedy series too, Tamsin Greig was a main character also! Mark was a similar nervous character.. give it a go… 😉
Robert Popper plays the heckler who crashes Mark's history walk on Peep Show
Great show and yes it bears repeat viewing because there's so much action and dialogue in it. Someone may have mentioned it but the actor Matthew Holness who played the sofa guy was Simon the IT tech braggard in The Office Series 2 Ep 5.
I am OBSESSED with watching people eat in tv shows/films. They are all just pushing the food around the plate. When they have to take a bite for a scene, there is a bucket beside them so that they can immediately spit it out once they yell cut. Downton Abbey is the best for it. Those table scenes take weeks to film. The candles keep changing heights and the amount of wine in their glasses goes up and down.
1:07 this is perfect writing as it sets Jim up for the rest of the show. and it sets up the dynamic between him and the goodman's. the fact he has come round and said the toilet didn't work and the natural question would have been how'd that happen?. BUT the fact the goodmans never asked means they are already used to how Jim is and his fits of excuses to come round.
Hopefully Green Wing soon for more Jackie and Jim together
Spaced or black books
Rip Paul ritter, having a bit of squirrel up in heaven 🙏☁️🙏
Amen
I fair enjoyed that,thanks. R.I.P Paul
This was a wonderful tribute to Paul Ritter and the show generally, and a great reaction, as always. I had never seen Friday Night Dinner before as I presumed it wouldn't be my kind of thing, but you introduced me to it, and I'm very glad you did. Had a blast watching along with you both and have come to really appreciate FND. Cheers!
There’s some great outtakes of Tamsin corpsing in Green Wing when you get to that - worth it for Mark Heap as Dr Alan Statham, he’s not unlike Jim…
Been waiting years for some of my fav reactors to do Green Wing. Hopefully when it eventually happens it will create new fans of the show.
I think the females they cast in the final episode fit in perfectly. It felt like they had always been on the show its a shame we couldnt get more of them and the lads.
I'm not crying, you're crying 😭 Definitely need to get you watching other shows with Mark Heap/Jim in the future. He's a prolific comedy actor, so it would be pretty impossible to avoid him. Robert Popper also worked on Peep Show, IT Crowd and Inbetweeners. He's pretty talented!
You’ll notice that now in any movie or TV show - people rarely eat… Have had to eat and drink on screen - or rather not actually eat, it was a bit weird at first; did drink a bottle of beer at least though, but had to make it last for hours 😂
Mind you, I don't think anyone ever told David Jason that, because he was always eating as Del Boy.
Omg the opening part 🥹
Ah goodbye bambinos. Respect to Paul for going through with this despite his decline in health.
Bitch-Face... Also the Therapist that Moss has an affair with in The IT Crowd.
Loved watching what is one of my all time fave comedies with the pair of you. Love all the characters in the show but would have to say Paul Ritter as Martin would have to be my fave. Won't be long before i watch it all again from the beginning
Rest in peace, Paul Ritter 🙏
So hard not to watch this without tearing. A great celebration of the show and it's cast." lol It captured the sibling nonsense so well, and we really were spoiled with a wonderful cast. I really liked Tuppence Middleton (the 'date' for Adam that Jonny snogs) in Sense 8. She is quite a main character and does really well.
Still can’t believe Paul has gone, what a legend - I think Martin is my favourite character of the show thanks to him. He had a part in No Offence - which is very dark and it’s not a comedy but it has its moments. Was lucky enough to work with Robert Popper (and Damon Beesley who was one of the writers of Inbetweeners) on a show. As a fan of FND and Look Around You (which he wrote with Peter Serafinowicz) that was brilliant.
Brilliant reaction to start off a great weekend🫶❤️🍻
I know we've only just finished it, but watching this makes me want to start it all over again from the beginning. Like a good album by a favourite band, it's something you can come back to again and again and notice brilliant little details you've previously missed each time
Mike- “we have to protect this pervert” 🤣😂
Wonder how many times thats been said in Hollywood 🤣
Watching Mike's change of feelings about Jim from episode 1 till the end was great to see
The 'sofa guy' is also the IT guy who Tim hates in The Office
Never knew one of the men who worked on the Three Lions song knew Robert Popper personally, that was very cool to know
David Baddiel. He used to do comedy sketch shows then created a fantasy football TV show with Frank Skinner. That's, ultimately, how "three lions" came about.
We play the ‘Mike and Jess’ drinking game…. Every time a tissue makes an appearance, have a drink….. had to lower the ABV 🫨🤭
That Mr Morris is a real Beau Brummel
All these men on TV you see these days, they aren't Beau Brummels! They don't deserve to be called Beau Brummels!
My best friend cried when i shared the news to her that day... and after composing herself, she asked me "What type of dog was it?" - We chuckled... then went back to playing in the toilet. Thankyou for the laughs, Paul. x
RIP Paul, I’m surprised Chernobyl didn’t get a mention in the polls, he plays such a good villain!
Loved this!
We'll all be seeing horrible grandma again in the coming weeks.
Are they watching gimme gimme gimme?
Val is so fit, ngl!
Tom rosenthal has his dragon jumper on! 🤗
Tamsin Greig did a really fun show with Matt LeBlanc called Episodes that is worth checking out.
Episodes is really good
RIP to the great man
Was hoping you might do this! <3 I think the real genius of the show is that everyone can see a little (or a lot) of their family in the Goodman's, its accessible to everyone. RIP to the great Paul Ritter
RIP Paul Ritter
So glad you've done this!
