Solid stool since the 90's still kills me 😂
Carol anne 😂
That Jimmy Saville joke didn’t age well lmao
Not seen this in a few years, but there seemed to be a lot of scenes I'd not seen before!
People were frightened during the AIDS scare, especially as there was no cure. My mother put a ton of toilet paper down on the seat when using a public loo, just in case. My grandmother thought she could catch it from the launderette!
This is why it's so good when people don't spoil things, I loved seeing your reaction to Rodney's engagement.
The foaming mixture Del made was brandy with Andrew's Liver Salts stirred in; Andrew's is now discontinued, but it is like an antacid/stomach settler, a little bit like an Alka-Seltzer.
OMGOSH!! Jess looks amazing!!! x
The seance was hilarious. 🤣
The next 2 eps are probably two of the best!
Haha, the Jimmy Saville comment here was probably pre-allegations, but they still took offence. I think it was one of those things so many people knew, as Mark Corrigan said, "it was old style pedoing, before it got a bad name", jokes.
There were no allegations back then (publicly). Most people didn’t even know until after Saville died. The reason they took offence was the comparison between the Trotter mum and Jimmy Saville. So to us in the 80s it was funny. Lovely thin, blonde, bejewelled lady compared with scruffy, cigar smoking, bejewelled old guy.
I liked that the episode they watched was a hybrid of the extended version and the original broadcast version. The extended version originally had no music in the pub scene with Rodney, Cassandra and Albert, and it made it feel flat.
The Tower Bridge Linney is one of my favourites out of all of OFAH!! so funny!!!! keep up the good work guys ❤️
Cheers for the stool update Mike, I was wondering 😆
The UK loved Del Boy, and Only Fools and Horses was watched by almost everyone. But the show did more than make us laugh. It also helped inform the uninformed, tackling subjects people often felt uncomfortable talking about — from buying condoms to getting yourself checked out. Del and the show did their bit, using humour to make difficult subjects feel normal and approachable. That’s part of the reason both Del Boy and Only Fools and Horses are still held in such high regard today.
fifth most watched show with 24 million tuning in Eastenders still holds the top spot with 30 million viewrs at time of live broadcast
If you remember, Trigger’s grandparents fell out because the grandmother had an affair with granddad.
Love you guys. Favourite reaction to our beloved Only Fools. Looking forward to Peep Show tomorrow.
Been looking forward to this 🙏🙏 As always, thanks for your reactions.. have a great Sunday and positivity reigns supreme 🙂🙂❤️
Goldstones maybe because of the crap he eats I thought
Anyone recognise DR meadows from Titanic he played first officer William Murdoch.
Concise? Let’s see if we can take a joke……. And the answer is….
Crazy to think that of everyone around that seance table, only Del and Rodney are still with us. In fact the other day marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of Kenneth MacDonald (Mike the barman) passing away aged only fifty. He died suddenly of a heart attack while on holiday in Hawaii.
Another great reaction guys. Every morning when I arrive at work I say……”I am here!!!” 😊 2 weeks until the Jolly Boys 😊😊😊👍
Yes. Cannot wait for the next two episodes.
HAhaha Brilliant!
Messing with those dark forces and weeji boards is just all silly nonsense. Its great for scaring people, that's it. The whole idea of ghosties and ghoulies defy the laws of physics. They cannot be possible.
"I haven't had a solid stool since the 90s" - lmao Mike is too funny
I know, I was crying at that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't think mickey pierce has had a single funny line in the entire show lol
You shouldn't go to a psychic for two reasons:- 1. It's bullshit, there's no such thing as a psychic. 2. They're con artists.
…. I AM HEEYAH
thanks for the laughs dave and jess
Never seen this episode before - really enjoyed it. You guys are great and I love watching your reactions to everything, even shows I'm not that keen on to begin with. And I love how firmly and fairly you handled the comment eruption. As you so rightly said, this is YOUR channel and your rules abide. Love you both and thank you for being you x x x
OK, so I've had to look up 'taters' rhyming slang as I've never heard it before but I guessed it means cold, it's 'taters in the mould' 'cold'. Still none the wiser? Me neither but as a potato farmer I should have known this...'Taters in the mould' is 'Potatoes in the mould' which describes how potatoes are planted with the soil earthed up around them in a 'mould', we call them ridges.
I’ve always thought this is such an underrated episode. Some of my favourite scenes are in this, including the seance, the doctor’s office and then the chat with the doctor at the end 🥹 definitely showing that vulnerable side to Del ❤️ another great reaction guys, thank you 🫶🏼
Brilliant reaction guys. I look forward to Sunday morning every week to watch your reactions. Mike, I noticed you saying you have IBS yourself and seemed surprised that it could cause Del to react like this. The thing with IBS is that some people mainly suffer diarrhoea, urgency, bloating or discomfort, while others can get very painful abdominal cramps and bowel spasms that come on suddenly and make them double over. I have IBS myself, but I don’t get the sharp, stabbing pains Del does, but it is known to happen. IBS is really an umbrella for a range of bowel symptoms, and the severity and type of pain can vary massively from one person to another. So although Del obviously plays it up for the comedy, him suddenly clutching his stomach in pain isn’t actually an unbelievable portrayal of a severe bout of IBS.
My wife goes to church on a Sunday morning, leaving me to worship at the church of Mike & Jess. I will be hopelessly bereft when their reaction to OFAH finishes.
Love this episode and so pleased you’re enjoying OFAH. As well as being very funny, it’s so loved by people due to the tender moments such as we saw today with Del. Get ready with your tissues for the next episode, you’ll need them! It contains my favourite Del and Rodney scene.
The Cynthia reference to Del Boy's pain in the doctor's surgery is because at the time there had been a 'scandal' about a woman called Cynthia Payne who was a madam and ran her own brothel to which several famous people, politicians etc were found to have gone. I believe she went to prison for a while and a film was made about her called 'Personal Services'. It's good actually.
THANK YOU!! I'm British but still never understood that reference
"That was a tough wink" from Mike killed me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"Shoot, ya boy got that. I don't get pains like that. I havent taken a sold stool since the 90's." 🤣🤣🤣 Mike! That was funny. But talk about over sharing 🤣🤣🤣
"Del ain't gonna die. He's not the type." - A brilliant line, as Only Fools and Horses / Derek Trotter really will live forever. Also I love that John Challis, who plays Boycie (Aubrey! haha) has the words I AM HERE on his gravestone.
This comment section genuinly has given me facts I've never known about this show and cant believe i never knew this
Dr Meadows was in Titanic, Officer Murdoch
Honestly this is my perfect Sunday morning, you guys, a large coffee and OFAH. What a way to start the day ❤️
Do you guys like detective shows? David Jason (Del Boy) stars in "A Touch Of Frost" and he injects quite a bit of humour into it.
Boring. My dad used to watch it years ago. Like watching paint dry
Apart from the 1996 xmas specials. This season is my favourite. The upcoming jolly boys outing is absolutely perfect
Fans of titanic will recognise Dr Meadows 👀👀
Yes no way
I AM HERE!!
My boy got that... seriously I was the same and not had a solid stool since the 90s, it wasnt IBS it was coeliac disease. Always worth getting a simple blood test to check for persistent IBS.
my boy got that 🤦🏻🤣🤣
Jimmy Saville
Huh?
This episode has some of the best lines
At the end, Albert is bringing breakfast, and Del has already had four cigars. How many would he normally smoke during a day? The real Del would be coughing his lungs up.
I'm a non smoker. But my 80 year old mother has smoked since she was 10 years old. We've all tried to get her to cut down as she still smokes around 40 a day!! Problem is everytime she has a checkup the one thing thsts pretty much perfect are her bloody lungs lol. Totally bizzare but some people just seem to either have incredibly durable lungs or are incredibly lucky.
John Challis, the actor who played Boycie, has “I Am Here” on his headstone. RIP to a legend.
Even though this is my least favourite of the season, it’s still a very funny episode, and it just goes to show how strong the season has been as a whole, that this episode is way down the list but it’s still so enjoyable to watch. That wasn’t an ice pack Del was holding over his tummy, it’s what we in the UK call a hot water bottle. You fill it with hot water and you place it over the affected area and the heat from it per mutates through the rubber lining to hopefully reduce the pain you’re suffering from. Can’t wait for your reactions to the next two episodes. Both are, IMO, two of the best ever episodes of OFAH.
It just gets better iconic british comedy sitcom never gets old ....✌️
Its Sunday so that means a full English with 2 cups of lovely tea whilst watching Only Fools and Horses with Mike and Jess.... LOVELY JUBBLY!
Amazing, I'm on about 3 hours sleep after being out last night, can't think of anything better than sticking this on 🙂 PS I know this isn't the right thread but to those who enjoy FND, I stopped watching after season 4 as I felt it was getting a bit samey. I'm thinking I might go back and finish the last 2 seasons now, is it worth it or was I right that it jumped the shark
Give it a go and see what you think. You may enjoy it, but if not thats fine. At least you will know 🙂
My grandfather died young because he refused to see the doctor. My grandmother almost went as well, but they finally dragged her. Turned out she just needed to be on medication and change her diet. She lived for another 16 years after that.
It was the same with my grandad too.
This episode I think it's quite understandable for series 6 but I do like it and it pops some focus on dels inner fears. Better prepare yourself for next week, it's probably considered one of the best episodes.
Great reaction, superb episode this one, really shows David Jason's acting, he's so good. The writng of course is pure genius. Brilliant episode
Might not be the only time you've seen Dr Meadows (Ewan Stewart), he was first officer Murdoch in Titanic.
Yes!!!
It's actually really sweet that Jess has concerns about seeing a medium
Mike should tell her elvis could be reached lol. Although they could end up getting Jerry Lee angry about them thinking he's not the king of rock n roll instead
OFAH on a Sunday 😍. The best way to start the day.
The rubber bottle on Del's tummy was a hot water bottle. The powder Del put in his drink was Andrew's Liver Salts (it is supposed to be mixed with water, not brandy). You can still get it, but it's quite an old-fashioned medicine for stomach upset. Jimmy Saville was only found out after his death in 2011, so this was well before that.
You know who that is don't you Sounds like Jimmy Savile 🤣🤣🤣
Why do only fools and horses work?
La la la la, la la la la la
Were there rumours about Jimmy Saville at this time? His crimes only became public knowledge after his death, but there had been many accusations that the police basically ignored.
I'm from Leeds and I heard the rumours as a kid during the 90s. Including the access to the morgue stuff, but that one seemed too far fetched to be believed...
This episode is the last time in which Del wears his iconic Afghan overcoat.
Omg really?! Never realised that, that's a pity! it's so iconic
Del put Andrew’s Liver Salts in his brandy. The best quick remedy for an upset stomach. Now no longer available in a lot of places which is the real pain!😡
Be interesting to see if this still has the Jimmy Savile line in it.
It does. But depends where they watched it from. Modern BBC remove it and lots of other only fools lines. They put warnings on things like faulty towers, especially the Germans episode but on other platforms its all still in. Modern bbc won't show things like monty python life of brian. This is why I personally aren't a fan of the more Modern British comedy shows. It's all very middle class middle of the road made to not offend anyone. Things like Mirranda just personally bore me. Things like only fools red dwarf bottom wouldn't be made by current bbc
I wish more actors would leave a plausible gap when talking on the phone. It breaks the immersion for me when they talk again after a moment and it’s clearly impossible for anything to have been said in that time.
That ‘El Del’ poster on the kitchen door was actually from the previous episode, but they had to remove it after a few episodes because people wrote in complaints about it.
You need to say KUSHTY more Jess lol. That coats suits you as well. Cant wait for one of my fav episode of OFAH.. the jolly boys outing
You plonker!😉
