New backgrounds
Chapter 9 will feature 2 new backgrounds. Or, more precisely, will feature a new background and retroactively add another one:
The amount of backgrounds is always a limiting factor when writing scenarios for the game, and they take time and are expensive to produce. This means I have to work with limited resources, which can make some scenes look out of place from time to time. This was my impression with the shopping scene in Chapter 8, where I could only show the main street background as the girls bounced from store to store. I felt having a shopping mall background adds to the experience and opens up new possibilities, since it's a place that the player will be visiting several times during the game, so I thought it was worth it to invest in getting it done.
About the other one, I'll let you speculate for now!

Okay, I'm seeing a "Live, Laugh, Love" poster so my first thought is which character is the most basic of the bunch. Lmao
Cindy defintley lol, dont get me wrong its not a bad thing but other than Lena if you go down that sort of path works with that cliche, i cant see any of the others having one lol
My guess is Cindy's. There looks to be a couple's photo by the bed's side.

Interesting to hear that backgrounds are so time-comsuming. But yeah, looking at all the small lines on the picture and thinking about colorizing the space between them, I totally agree, now. Nice to see that you still refine older chapters. We will still play though the game a lot in future, so it woun't go to waste :) . Also interesting, how a different background can chance the feeling. I always imagined the game to take place in a rather small city with small shops on the sides of small streets. The old street-background supported my view. Now, the city will feel bigger with the giant mall. In contrast to that, the pint (perry's favourite) and the music store will now feel even smaller and (good-)anachronistic. The mall, on the other hand, is now more Seymore's place.
My guess would be Lena's parents room. I suspect that her mum would be back home when she arrives and bedridden leading to scenes in this room. I think it makes sense for the Chair to be setup like that if this is the case where she has visitors coming in and spending time with her.
Does the saying on the wall match with her mother's attitude? I would expect something from her like "Respekt, Tradition, Family" ;) .
Could be Holly's room, but it seems a little too grown-up if you know what I mean.
I assure you it isn't Holly's room as there is absolutely no books there. Her room will have many bookcases filled to the brim.
I thought there was another one that you haven't put in the game yet. The luxury suit or something you have shown us long ago.
