Character design (Axel)
When I came up with Axel, he seemed like a very interesting character to me. In GGGB we had Jack, who started of being an exaggerated representation of the "player" type of guy, an overly muscled, cocky, successful, apologetically amoral and sexually aggressive character that could tempt the naive Ashley into naughty stuff. Later I tried to give him a bit more depth, showing his personal circumstances and revealing that he could be an OK guy in the right context with the right girl.
Still, there were a lot of aspects I would've liked to play with. Axel is not like Jack, he's not as blatantly cocky and easy-going about his fuckboy lifestyle; he's psychologically more complex and let's just say he doesn't have that same positive attitude towards life. But he plays into the same archetype in many ways, he's charming, successful and well, just look at him...
His role is different too. He's not an enticing and lustful Adonis to the female main character. They already had a relationship, and it didn't turn out so well... And also, this time there's a male playable character, too! In GGGB I always thought about developing a rivalry between Jack and Dave or possibly Eric (you can see a hint of that in the beach scene), but the game worked I couldn't manage to do that. This time is different, though... Axel and Ian have something in common, something that will make them clash and collide most surely... With a rival like that, what will he do?
I'm excited to write about Axel and his relationship with the two main characters!

Axel is a jerk (for now) a few leg kicks from Ian & he is done :D
Captain America :D
As I said earlier I really wish Axel becomes a worthy opponent to Ian for the attention of Lena and, who knows, even other ladies. Almost every story needs an antagonist, and beyond that I don’t like my goals in a game be fulfilled just by pressing the “I win” button. In order to achieve that I think it’s important he’s not a one dimensional character and has if not good at least some attractive qualities. If he’s just a good looking jerk it’s not really fun. So let him be an evil genius, a sex god, a master in manipulation, or all of the above, it doesn’t really matter what; but I trust you to make him interesting in the “love to hate” way. And if he’s even more than that, well congratulations, that would be the sign that he’s a really good character. Also, as I’ve already bet in another post: I suspect he’s the one Gillian (Ian’s ex) cheated with. Sooo… let’s get ready to rumble!!
I'm gonna kill that red herring now. Ian's ex-gf didn't cheat on him with Axel. The obvious connection between them is Lena, but that's not the only connection they share... You'll find out more in chapter 3!
The rivalry between Ian and Axel will be resolved with a grueling table tennis match. Calling it now!
Strip table tennis.
