Star Trek: First Contact | Cinematic Trailer

First Contact + ATC Legends Never Die = S Tier/No Notes, as Alex says "Wish it was longer."
I thought this movie was more liked when did it get hated my only issue is the character assasination of Zefram Cochrane
I appreciate the attempt by this trailer to make it look like Dr Crusher has anything to do in this movie.
Somebody had to activate the EMH
So even though I don't like this movie its not bad and I’m go for a watch-along.
Considering letting the reaction play since I have seen the movie recently
I've never watched this movie in 4K before. My first time will be a watch-along with Target Audience!
I like the trailer more than I enjoy the film. Star Trek: Worst Contact.
CHILLS! I love this fucking movie!
Not bad fellas
Picard: The Trailer must be watched here! I will have them watch it! On PATRAEON!
Alex: "Someone once said, don't try and make a great trailer....just make a trailer and let the TA members make their own judgments." YouTube Comments: "That's rhetorical nonsense....who made that trailer?" Alex: "Josh did....16 hours ago..."
I made the same joke on the discord😄
Two things I've been looking forward to the most was season 5 of DS9 and this movie. I hope you guys liked it!!
Great trailer!
I'm impressed you were able to put in ALL of Beverly's scenes from the movie into the trailer
Hahahaha
Awesome trailer!
One thing I'm taking away from this trailer is that Josh seems to have at least enjoyed Frakes' directing here (as he typically does). So that's good at least. Whether they like or not, I just hope we don't get ST VI/"Starship Down" sour grapes mode from one or both of them where they turn their brains off, ignore all the dialogue, and just piss on everything the entire time. That's them at their worst. Hope for the best; expect the worst. That's what I'm sticking with.
It doesn't matter whether or not anyone likes or dislikes it as long as the discussion is good
Trying to make the movie look good?
They didn't have to try too hard.
I just looked at the calendar and I’d like to change my comment to: “This is all well and good but when are we getting our Warlord discussion?”
Going back and forth on whether the guys will like this. Recently Alex specifically said he didn't want them to go back in time to stop first contact, so he nailed the premise without realising it. Lots of reason they may not like this (time travel, space battles, fan favourite, not big fans of the Borg) but lots of reasons they might (horror feel, good jokes, nice character scenes). My guess is they'll end up ranking it about the same level as Wrath of Khan. Fine, good even, but not the spectacular everyone else seems to think it is. Can't wait for Sunday anyway!
If I had to guess I would guess they don’t love it but give it a pass because it’s a movie… but in no way shape or form is this movie on the level of Wrath of Khan. That’s a much smarter movie.
Please can someone get these two a job in Paramount to make the actual trailers for upcoming Star Trek material? Somebody here must have connections at Paramount.
I like, to dream, yyyyyes yes, right between the sound machine......
I've been waiting for this moment with you guys for a long time. I'm so fucking excited!
Paramount missed a trick not releasing this in theatres when the Zombie media craze was happening around 2011.
And I cried, again! Like data, this may be imperfect, but I love i so much anyway. Great acting, great direction and the E is still the best looking Trek ship after all these years. Its freaking gorgeous.
Josh made a Cinematic Trailer already!? ...He would make an excellent drone.
Oh please like the movie. Please like it… I don’t want to watch them shred something I love. Please please
Don’t worry they’ll at least pop off on some things for sure… u can’t not hype the Dixon hill or emh scene… also the “assimilate this” scene
So hyped. I guess we all here are on some kind of Star Trek! Thank you for bringing up the trailer so soon after the teaser! Well done!
A trailer that fills me with anticipation for a 30-year-old film I’ve already seen several times... well done!
Ending on the Moby Dick quote… gorgeous. Honorable mention goes to the mirror shot of Riker as “Directed by Jonathan Frakes” hits the screen. As usual, better than the actual trailer was.
Two trailers? You must really hate this one! Just kidding... I hope. This will be my Star Trek 6
Yeah, I don't like Star Trek 6 and love this movie, so I have a feeling it's my/our turn.
I love this movie... so I expect they will fucking hate it.
no, they will like it. They are big TNG fans, and this is the best TNG movie, Its the other series they apply an inherent skeptuicism to. They loved Generations, which has a mixed reputation in the fandom. By contrast this is universally seen as the best TNG movie, and arguably the movie that holds up the best out of all of them as Wrath of Kahn doesnt have the same impact it had when it first came out. You have an actual, meanincing establihsed villian who is given depth that justiifies the "popcorn moive fun" of the movie format, something that Trek in general struggled with in its movies
This is by far my favorite TNG movie! It has everything action, adventure, red alert!🚨 but I think I like the TOS movies more? Dnno why as a kid I hated TOS seemed hokey to me.. 🤷♂️
I know this movie gets over-praised, but it really was lightning in a bottle for me and so many others. Its a faithful revamping of Star Trek into the digital age, and still holds up. The reimagining of the Borg turned them from an unsettling unknowable villain of the week to a cosmic horror that seemingly can't be stopped - merely slowed down. Seeing the Defiant doing what it was designed to do (and only suffering because it was lacking the one thing it was meant to have - an entire squadron backing it up). Worf being levelled up to his most intense and badass self so far. Picard going full action man. The list goes on.
So I'm just going to mention this here... The fleet that engaged the borg cube were the "new fleet" of anti-borg ships, the Defiant being the first available. These were new caliber of ships capable of fighting the borg and we learned frm BOBW that Shelby was given command of Fleet building capabailities which is kind of important as the relatively weak starfleet the borg encountereed in BOBW was a process of the gill worms weakening the fleet, after Shelby took over she changed the process to a starfleet that could mobilize for an invasion with fast to build warhships which I think is an important thing going from waht we saw in BOBW, but the majority of the "new ships" were busy here engaging the Borg cube at Earth. There rare also reasons that cant yet be explained as to why the borg could use time travel in this one case but not generally, and more generally, this particular movies sets up and establishes a lot of stuff that will be important for trek later without the need for tons of explanatory dialogue
Damn, I was just kidding about that April 1st thing, but now I feel like it might be plausible! :) Cool trailer.
Two trailers? You're spoiling us!
Let's F'ing GO!
So... you REALLY liked it? :)
Since you made a badass trailer, I assume you liked it! Redemption for "First Contact"?!?
Funny how they somehow called this in the Voyager 2 parter.
And the Jerry Goldsmith score is an all-timer. It's my favorite of his Trek Scores, (with apologies to TMP and TFF.)
A lot of the cooler musical cues from this movie are taken from those two movies, so i think it's mostly just the logical conclusion to the other two. (IE, TFF's A Busy Man which ends up being a sort of leitmotif for the captain of the enterprise, whoever he may be, and is one of the main cues heard in First Contact.) anyway regardless this movie has some of the best music of any movie ever made
i think this movie is overrated in star trek fandom circles, while still being entertaining and also having notably excellent music. i look forward to alex waiting to form his opinion until after josh gives one & then watching them say it was good while complaining about it for 90 minutes
also the craziest part is im going to pay $10 for early access to mediocre commentary to a movie i myself am lukewarm about.
It's Sunday *somewhere* in the world!!
Okay that was great
You beautiful bastards... You actually did it!
I can’t wait for your reaction!! I really hope that you loved this movie as much as most everyone does. The fact you included the “tough little ship” quote in this is awesome! Great parallel to what Thomas Riker said wayyy back in season 3 DS9 and it’s neat the writers made that call back in the film.
One week after this movie came out, me and my wife were going to visit my parents and we agreed to all go to the movies together to see it. I felt a little bad because I couldn't wait and saw it by myself on opening night.
Oh, you feel a little bad, do you? Ain't foolin' me. You're proud of yourself. ;) And you should be!
This is pretty close to the trailer we got in 96 if memory serves
Nah the og trailer had a voice over in classic 90’s fashion that sounded like don lafontaine but was actually Miguel ferrer who coincidentally was also a background actor in the search for Spock
Oh, HELL YEAH! Time to break out the First Contact drink-along-with Zephram Cochrane game. "The line must be drawn HE-ARE! No further!"
First Contact? Didn't you watch that episode ages ago?
First Contact? Must be some kind of rewatch then
Yes, yes, but when is Warlord early access going up?
You got your two favorite trek writer and director working on this project. I hope you two enjoy it. It ou guys kind of have a mix response to time travel.
You shall NOT PASS- I mean the "line must be drawn here"
Yes please!
Fuckin' awesome!! I can't wait! Really hope you like this.
Gawd damn why am I tearing up?? I’ve seen this movie at least once a year since release and I’m still getting emotional? There must be a way to parlay trailer making for Star Trek to a profession. Thank you once again for making me feel something for Star Trek again and letting us ride along in your journey… I’m like a 16 year old again seeing it in theaters for the first time
Presuming you watch it April 5th…commemorating the pre-anniversary?
Now that was awesome!! I literally got chills. I can't wait for your reactions, and a little nervous too. Lol
"That's what they came here to do, stop first contact."
We've made too many compromises already; too many reposts. They post teasers on their channel and we comment. They post entire trailers and we comment. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This post, no further! And I will make them pay for the wait until Sunday!
The line must be drawn he-ah!
Remember watching this in movie theaters back in 1996 with my friends, what an event it was at the time, we were 16 finishing high starting college so much excitement to watch this... Hope you enjoyed it!
I remember too. I was a senior in high school. My favorite Star Trek movie. I think the release was also timed perfectly for Voyager season 4.
The Best of the TNG Movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best of all the Star Trek movies
Woooooow gota go dust off the VHS
I'm sure I've got it on VHS somewhere. Either that or my mother has it. Not that I have a functioning VHS player anymore.
Is it Sunday yet?
Let’s go!
