Episode is fine, whatever, blah blah. I HAVE to talk about that scene where Scully is just carrying a bucket of chicken. wtf is with that? Has she ever in the ENTIRE history of the show carried around food like that? Who does that? You buy dinner and PUT IT ON A COUNTER, you don't carry it around when you are hanging around a collection of human remains. It's your dinner, not a god damn security blanket. 2 seconds into her walking into the room Mulder should've been like "Why the hell are you carrying a big bucket of fried chicken?" And then at best she'd be like "I bought us a large bucket of fried chicken for dinner" and then he'd say "That's out of character for you and does not at all explain why you are holding it in this room of human remains." Like that's too much food for just her, so it would seem she's bringing dinner for both of them, idk about you but if I've ever seen anybody get food for a group of people, when they return with the food they acknowledge the food they are bringing. "Pizza's here!" or something. Or at worst they drop it off in the kitchen. They don't just have long ass conversations walking around and holding it. It's a two and a half minute scene where she's holding this big distracting bucket of chicken and it's NEVER acknowledged. Imagine her doing this in an episode about aliens, just standing in a meeting with Skinner holding a bucket of fried chicken she doesn't comment on. "What? Carrying around buckets of fried chicken while we talk is just a thing I do, Skinner!" Imagine hanging out with a coworker in your office and the whole time you are talking about work hey are carrying a bucket of fried chicken and they act like it's not strange. Set it down somewhere! Does the police place with all the bones not have a cafeteria? Some kind of break room. It's a place where people work, surely there is somewhere more appropriate to put down your open lid bucket of chicken dinner than just carrying around as you inspect piles of human bones. This bothers me way more than it probably should, but it's so distractingly weird, and I can't pretend it's not.
also I'm loving seeing the XF merch slowly creeping up behind you including that light-up X sign :-p idk when an appropriate occasion will happen to show it off, but I'm excited to see it shown off in use!
This show is how it should be done. Question how and what we do. Animals for food, government policies, small town "folk", natural or unnatural climate issues. X Files asks the question. Forces nothing down your mouth. I only hope the new show they are making is the same and not, these people and their ideas are bad.
Is Mrs Budahas in this one?
objectively I suppose nothing special, but this is one of my guilty pleasure ones, I just find it humorous in a morbid way, lots of throwaway bits. "they all share something in common" "they're missing their heads" "well BESIDES that." after Chaco's "who did this?" you see the dude wiping his mouth with a napkin X3 just little dark jokes
Decent episode, nothing too special. Meat processing plants are pretty disgusting at the best of times. I used to be a fuel truck driver delivering fuel directly to equipment. There was this one slaughterhouse where I would top up the tanks on the reefer trailers. Pretty horrible stench around that whole place, and as much as I love bacon, I can't lie that it's heartbreaking hearing the pigs squeal as they're getting unloaded from the trailers. They're smart enough to know it's the end of the line. I did laugh at the end though when they fastened the restraint over Scully's forehead. Like, you know you can just slip right out of that. Since I don't have a ton to say about the episode, lemme weigh in on the chicken discussion. I don't mind KFC once in a while, but Popeye's is top of the fried chicken game. Tried Chick Fil A once, waffle fries were good, chocolate chip cookie was great, chicken was fine, but their sandwich doesn't hold a candle to Popeye's. As for favourite type of chicken meat, I'm not the biggest fan of wings. If they're cooked perfectly and the meat comes right off the bones, fine, but otherwise too much work for too little meat, and they're messy. I get the point of them being that you get the highest surface area to meat ratio which equals more flavor. On the other end, breasts will have a lot of bland meat surrounded by a thin seasoned layer. And that's why I like tenders. You get nearly as much meat to surface area ratio as wings, minus the hassle of bones. And yeah, Popeye's biscuits are very dry. What I do is cut or twist them in half, put a hot sauce packet on either side, pile up as much chicken as will fit, and put a 3rd hot sauce packet on top of that, and make a little sammich out of it. The hot sauce and the grease from the chicken counteracts the dryness.
KFC way over hyped. You all have a Lee's Famous Recipe up there?
Was it mentioned the wife was Worf’s spine doctor
they brought it up
I always confuse this and the meat processing plant one, which is also set in a small town. Both are... just fine tbh.
Josh will be haunted by the ghost of Colonel Sanders...LOL.
Whenever you said "big chicken" I mentally flashed to Mulder facing off against the chicken on Family Guy.
Or the bad guy with that name on the first season of the original Hawaii Five-O, played by Gavin McLeod.
I think this is the episode where Scully is beheaded
All this talk of fried chicken...you guys are making me hungry. For the record, for me,, Popeye's has the best fried chicken but KFC has the better sides. And for wings, I prefer smoked wings, not breaded.
They killed her husband because he was a "bad" member of the town. Always cheating. So he wasn't good for the town. His report was insignificant. Its an ok episode... there are better... there are worse also... its just meh
I love this episode, and I also realize it's not as good as it seems. I agree, the story is merely decent and not particularly unique, but everything revolves around Rob Bowman and Mark Snow going apeshit at their jobs. The direction is so stylish and creepy and the score matches it. I kind of don't even care about the story when the atmosphere is this engaging.
I feel similar when it comes to this one. I'd say somewhere between B and C-tier, leaning more towards C though.
I think I saw Brad Dourif playing chicken #3 "the cluckin' M-clucker". He is good
Someone burning the midnight oil, chaps? This was uploaded at 8am UK time! Anyway, means I can enjoy this before heading out to work later, thanks! Always enjoy this episode, although seeing how they process animals is enough to put you off eating it again... Good to see that the overriding message is that human eating human is bad but chicken eating chicken is ok. Fun Fact: I live not far from Dudley... the original UK version, although the people there are just as questionable ;)
