Stan TWICE for a better life.
I think it’s fair… it’s a movie, not great, not bad, just a movie…
Where musicals are concerned, I'm more in the Alex camp. They're not my thing. They CAN be done well, and I do think the movie following an actual band helps sell it, as opposed to randomly breaking out into song all the time. This got me thinking of this reaction channel I used to follow, FailWhale34, back when he was watching Buffy, and he got to the musical episode, and got crucified for thinking it was just OK. A situation I've seen repeated many times along this Star Trek journey. I'm also not really into pop much. I'll admit Golden is pretty catchy, but it's not going in my playlist or anything. As a truck driver I listened to rock/metal/alternative for years, but eventually got burned out on the genre. Switched to country, same thing happened. Now I just have a playlist of almost entirely video game and movie soundtracks, and some other random stuff. Also not a big concert goer. Only been to 3, and the most recent was a decade ago. I gotta say though, if a giant, derpy faced demon cat showed up in my apartment in the middle of the night..............I'm still going in for pets. Fuck it, you only live once.
My niece and nephew love this movie! It’s fun, and catchy. + I like demony things 👹 like Buffy, Supernatural. Even musicals really..
I enjoyed it for what it was. Simple and Catchy songs. The Korean singers were incredible. I am glad they won Grammy's and Oscars for it. The kids loved it, so there's that. Great to see TA go on a tangent.
I absolutely loved this movie. I won't lie, I randomly decided to watch it a few months back after all of the hype. I wasn't expecting much, but I like animated stuff so yeah. I think I've watched it 4 times more since then. Just a really fun, original movie.
Probably the most fun animated film since Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse (which was done by the same animation company). Watch out Disney/Pixar. There's competition.
Edit: They noticed this within the first 30 seconds of the movie. Well done, TA.
I think this movie is absolutely fantastic and well deserving of it's Oscar wins. The main trio are loveable. The animation, themes, action, music, drama and comedy are all top tier. It clearly shows why it took so many years to make and why it's the biggest ever movie on Netflix by far and had 7 of the top 10 billboard Top 100 tracks when it released. A great film for all ages.
I had to check if it was April 1st already.
Whe the flying hearts start slapping everyone in the face…best part.
i feel your pain alex.
I don't like musicals or animated movies at all. Somehow I still thoroughly enjoyed this. It's a light-hearted comedy with a simple story but an important message. Oh and some catchy tunes that deserved all the awards. I'm sure the boys hated it. It certainly isn't The Bonding.
Yeah not my thing at all and yet really enjoy this a lot too
We’ve had Geordi must suffer We’ve had O’Brien must suffer We’re seeing signs of Kim must suffer Now……… It’s time for Alex to suffer!!! Don’t worry Alex I’m sure it’s gonna be gonna be golden in the end…..
I've been wondering since the moment this appeared on the schedule how this ended up happening. Just...not the kind of thing I'd expect our boys to enjoy, just put it that way.
Ok. Well I liked the cat. Yup.
Well if I’m working extra hours, guess I might as well watch along and see what the big deal is. Hope it’s good 🤞🏽
Simple movie with solid animation and exceptional songs. Not exactly a musical guy either, but this one caught me off guard especially with how hopeful and positive it is (not much of that in modern media these days). What kind of music do you like, Alex?
Exceptional songs IF you like this genre of music. If you find modern pop music mashed up with electronica/hiphop supremely uninteresting, then they’re exceptionally dull.
I think Josh nailed it: This is solid for what it is. It's broad and predictable, but it's aimed at pretty young kids, so the messages have to be obvious. Great animation, catchy songs, and if it is too hyperactive and obsessed with social media status, well, that's probably life for kids today. And I also avoid concerts. Let's take the music I could hear at home, remove all seating methods, and make it so loud it's painful? Sign me up.
there is 9 hours i will never get back
Alex looks miserable, lol
I applaud you guys for sitting through this. My 9 year old daughter..(she is actually an adopted granddaughter, wife and I had to adopt her and her brother many years ago. I'm now a single parent with them since my wife passed last august) has watched this a couple of times and to be honest I didn't like her watching it. Too much woke I thought that I'm trying to shield her from, at least from what little I watched of it. I didn't like it either, i guess I'm trying to say.
Too much woke? I have no earthly idea what is woke about this movie.
2 Academy Awards and about 50 other ones-What could go wrong?
I think the pathos and the character relationships will get a rave from the guys... at least I bet $7.50 on it to get it early.
Well, I lose my bet but the "evil corporate Gwi-Ma" remark made up for it.
Dropped too late for me to watch today, gotta wait until tomorrow... Oh well. 🥲 Can't wait!
Posting before watching: based on Alex's face, this is gonna be a blast
You know this will awaken something kind in him. He exists as a gentleman waiting for a well deserved hug. Just sayin'
