Starring Robert Picardo! Link to full movie included below.
This is what Alex was referencing in the Voyager theme reaction. We watched it a few months ago, unaware he would be our next Star Trek doctor!

A political commentary with an obvious message that is also entertaining and well made? What a crazy thought!

Oh boy, I posted this on Run Lola Run by mistake. Anyway, long before Voyager Robert Picardo was in a Showtime series called Steambath. It was about the afterlife as a sauna run by a portarican man who happens to be God. There are videos of it on line. Including a video of the play the series was based on which featured Bill Bixbby playing the lead.
Not a horror person (despite Schisms and Frame of mind being two of my favorite TNG) but glad you liked it and had a surprise!
I'm 37 minutes in and wondering why this needed to be an hour. Otherwise, it's fine I guess, it's just... kind of typical. It's about as on the nose as can be, it's one of thousands of productions Hollywood makes like this in terms of messaging / politics, and even though I broadly agree with their criticisms on this one, it's just... *shrug* I love Gremlins / Gremlins 2 and Robert Picardo, but this isn't doing much for me, unfortunately.
And now I made it to the 'kid with a gun' scene lol. Sigh...
I'm gonna have to take a pass on this one. Too much real-world politics seeping in for my taste. It's fine to take a stand and pick a side, but I prefer my fictional politicians to remain fictional, not just cut-n-pasted from the real world into the fictional one (See The Day After Tomorrow and how they fictionalized and satirized the Bush Administration) And maybe this is just residual trauma from the time I got kicked out of a DS9 group on Facebook for bringing up politics when I compared the Cardassian occupation to the Holocaust
This is a good one but if you're looking for the BEST Dante movie, I highly recommend The Howling if you have never seen it. Also, it's the best Werewolf movie of all time. Yes, better than American Werewolf in London. Anyone can fight me on that. Both released in 1981 along with Wolfen which wasn't technically a werewolf movie but I liked it ^_^ This was the Year of the Werewolf and spawned the killer werewolf subgenre. Im ranting now lol But ya, The Howling is the best by far. NOT so much the sequels which I would avoid like a silver bullet. 🐺
I agree. The Howling is one of my favorite horror movies.
Picardo is a Joe Dante regular. As is Dick Miller.
