PREDICTION POLL - Voyager Characters

Okay so the correct answer was Janeway, Torres, Kim? Maybe Paris and Tuvok?

I am more excited than expected. I watched the first few seasons and then life took over. But do love many of these characters. Can't wait to see the reaction.

Janeway, since she is the focus of the pilot and has to make some tough decisions.

B'Elanna. Because she's the least Starfleet-like...unless they pick Neelix for that very same reason.

Based ONLY on a single episode a few of these characters haven't gotten the screen time to really earn these votes, even if they deserve them.

Based only on the pilot? I voted The Doctor along with a lot of other people, but I think Neelix had a very strong start in the pilot.

Just based on the pilot, i know you'll love Janeway, and you have a Vulcan as you asked for. I also know you love Klingons, but the Doctor gets my vote.

The Characters I liked the least became, in my view, integral to the show, I stand by my Janeway\Tuvok assumption, but any of the characters would make sense. I hate everything about the Kazon though

Mulgrew really owns the Janeway roll from Day 1 of the show, matching Shatner's season 1 Kirk. I expect confusion and possible annoyance about Tom Paris not being Nick Locarno.

I am going to say guessing is a bad habit, best not to practice it. I will say as soon as it drops I will make a pizza to watch it with you guys. However based on the trailer made Janeway and Tom are top choices then Belanna and Harry

My guess for your favorites for the first episode: Tuvok and B'Elanna.

The question is based on one episode the 1st one, it's named for him and he's not on the list nor is he played by Steve Martin which would have been appropriate. That said Tom, Harry, or the Captain herself and I think they will like the ship design.

tough choice for sure - for me Tom Paris is always a favorite and i hope they enjoy him too - the Doctor is big fun but based on the Caretaker episodes we don't see him enough - B'Elanna is awesome but again, in these episodes she is not quite great yet - Janeway of course, love the woman in the big chair - but for me, always, Tuvok is the one i love to watch

Definitely Tom Paris. The Doctor is a little weird before the actor figures him out.

I think its gonna be Tom Paris and sticking my neck out here I dont think it will be The Doctor as I dont remember him getting either much screen time or do anything of interest in the pilot. In a way I'm surprised to see him so far in front in the poll. Off the top of my head I can only recall 1 scene The Doctor is in while I can think of the several interesting conversations Tom has with various members of the crew Btw amazing we almost have 1000 votes!

Yeah, there's one character who for me is the GOAT for the series, but for the premiere isn't given much time. For this one episode I think the standout is Tom

I mean, they'll get the hots for B'Elanna. So Alex will have to add both spots AND forehead ridges to his list of kinks.

I think based only on the premier episode, they'll appreciate Janeway, but later will gravitate to Paris, Tuvok or the Doctor. (and by season 4....)

The continuity of Nick Locarno will be too much to resist, but the machismo of '3 packs a day' Mulgrew will be admittedly hard for them to pass up.

I was never a huge fan of this show, but anyone who chooses someone other than The Doctor as their favorite is simply wrong and needs to work out their issues

Given the affinity Josh and Alex had for Locarno in “The First Duty”, I’d wager they’ll gravitate to Tom Paris at the outset. They’ll also find the idea of a hologram Doctor as a character interesting, as well as Tuvok the Vulcan. 🖖

I'm torn between the doctor and tuvok...

Voyager doesn't have as many great characters as DS9, but they're all distinct and most get good development. I think their favorite will vary from season to season, as I imagine it does for many viewers.

I like how Harry Kim has less votes than Neelix and hardly anyone has brought him up in the comments.

I chose Tuvok as a curveball. His dialogue with Janeway hints at an established partnership built on respect. It's interesting to have such a tight relationship between security/tactical and the captain. Worf and Picard respect each other, but it feels like more of a one-way street, chain of command. But Tuvok/Janeway feels more like a two-way street, a trusted advisor. And I think his actor plays Vulcan really well.

Tuvok from the pilot, but The Doctor for the series, is my prediction.

We know the fellas are gonna bond with Neelix. They probably already have his action figure in the background. By the gods, I'm joking - please don't bond with that freakin' weirdo.

Only 4 contenders I think - Janeway, Paris, Tuvok or the Doctor, though the Doc doesn't have much screen time at all in the pilot.

I can tell you who I hope to god it's not: Neelix. Nobody likes neelix.

I think they'll like Tom Paris because he's an everyman, and I think they'll be intrigued about Tuvac being a full Vulcan character.

I am voting for Paris but I do think the guys will find the EMH an intriguing concept.

That's a tough one. Going just by Caretaker, Paris and Janeway are by far the most fleshed out characters. So one of them, or Tuvok because they'll be excited for a new vulcan and he plays it well. None of those three would surprise me, but if I have to pick one, I'm going with Tom Paris. He has more of an arc than anyone else in this first episode. I think they'll like the Doctor as well, but he just doesn't have much screentime in the pilot. I expect they'll be curious to see more of him, but that there's just not enough of him here to be the immediate favorite.

Jar Jar Neelix

Based solely on "Caretaker," I bet the favorite will be Tom Paris or Neelix. I do not think this opinion will be held for long though.

Based on season 1 only! It will change.

Based on Caretaker alone, Im guessing Tom will stand out with his backstory.

Based on some of the numbers in the poll so far, I "predict" that a lot of people are ignoring the "based on only the premiere" part of the question. That said, I could be WAY off, but considering Josh's favorite DS9 characters so far have been Kira and Dax, and Alex called them both "Mommy" in a recent ep, it's really hard to imagine it being anyone other than Janeway.

Based on the Caretaker episode it will be Tom Paris especially with his tie in to TNG and Wesley. He also has a little more background development over the others.

Gee the least utterly boring character for Josh and Alex to gravitate to... lol It's PicardO hands down for me.

Honestly, I don't think they'll like anyone based on Caretaker alone. Given five episode, I'd go with the Doctor or Tom Paris (though Voyager REALLY missed an opportunity with his character, IMO, considering the actor and that this is not his first time in Star Trek).

Torres being a similar character to their favorite K'Ehleyr I think will give her the lead.

I predicted before that Josh will like Janeway, but I think it’ll take a few episodes more for that. I predicted Tom Paris for Caretaker, jsut because I feel like he had a lot of lines and already showed so much growth in just that time. They also mentioned wanting a Vulcan back (wish granted!). They’re all wonderful characters, so I hope you like them all in time.

Chose Janeway. My prediction: 1. Janeway (She has a strong command presence). 2. Paris (Has an interesting troubled past) and 3. Tuvok (Just because he's Vulcan).

Its hard to judge. They'll probably love the Captain and Doctor the most and have a mutual crush on B'Elanna. I also have a prediction on who they won't care for. And its not Neelix.

The pilot is funny, Tom kinda feels like the main character.

Just the premiere? Hmm. Who pops there? Janeway. The Doctor. Neelix I remember standing out as well.

They might enjoy a certain relationship on the show involving two characters more than just loving a particular one

The Nick Lacardo of it all makes me think they might go for the Lower Deck'er going O'Brien... but the doctor is emotionally distant & funny so... uh ... to the journey, eh?

If they watched more episodes, I'd say B'Elanna or The Doctor, but as it is, I think they'll be happy to see a Vulcan in the main cast again. Tuvok.

It’s either gonna be B’Elanna or the Doctor. They’ve got a thing for the half-Klingon, half-human women, and the Doctor’s just a plain old smartass who I think they’ll gravitate to like they did with Odo.

I said Tuvok because they asked for a Vulcan on the bridge. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if it were Janeway, Torres, Kim, Chakotay, or The Doctor. Definitely not Neelix or Kes.
