This trailer is brilliant! It’s SO much better than the episode itself, and an inspired use of this poignant song. So talented!
Congrats, this trailer almost makes this garbage episode look good! If only it really had the level of longing and intensity that this implies. "Love isn't logical". LOL, certainly not in this episode.
You made this episode look *good*
🎶 Brigadoon! 🎶
Wait, THIS is the creepy Jeffrey Combs episode?! Also, I didn't realize Jonathan Frakes was so busy directing while Generations was in the works!
I never considered this to be a great or even very good episode, but I don't actively dislike it either. The acting and the scenes with Jadzia and Sisko really stood out for me. And the subplot with Quark is pure gold. Anxious to see their reaction to it.
First bad episode of S3 but trailer makes it look good
I barely remember this episode but this trailer has me hyped for the rewatch!
you know what else is not logical? The amount of Banger Trailers!
Those trailers are peak performance guys. They make me want to watch even the episodes I did not enjoy originally. Looking forward to the watch along.
I am not a fan of this episode when I watched it previously. This trailer makes me want to watch it… so good job!
I remember that I was impressed with Terrys acting in this one, especially in the ending. Trailer is as perfect as always! Well done!
Jadzia Dax regresses from a mature, intelligent scientist with 7 (8 with Joran?) lifetimes of experiences to a high school girl in puppy love because... reasons.
My Teen self is like reasonable, but the old man I’ve become is like you’re gonna give up everything for some dude you just met. Forever is a long time people break up .
Wow! This trailer actually makes me want to watch this shitshow!
Amazes me how Trill say; "[WE] try to live on a higher, more spiritual plane, viewing intense romantic pursuits as a nuisance and a weakness.." And then Dax wants to spend her whole life with a dude that has Bareil-level of romantic chemistry?!! Nothing against the actor, but that character he played was so... milk toast. And yeah Curzon was a horn dog, but also a gifted ambassador/diplomat - so you definitely have to vent after a day doing that particular job. He did have that thing with Enina Tandro in S1 so yeah, humanoids gotta 'human' sometimes. Wonder if it's truly 50/50 with the host & symbiote on a day to day basis or how much it fluctuates.
You're absolutely right. Brett Cullen is an accomplished character actor with an impressive filmography. But in this appearance, it was as if he was reading lines off a page for the first time. A real surprise and disappointment
This is one of those episodes where I remember the A and B plots but didn't remember they're from the same episode.
Really? I was convinced you wouldn't bother for the worst episode of season 3. I mean it's based on a 1947 musical. Just boring as hell.
The I’m going to miss you old man cements this as an S. The rest is a B. Sisko and Dax is the best friendship in Trek next to you guys know who lol. Edited to add the Kira reveal is the other S part of the episode.
I wouldn't put it very high on my list. Probably C tier, but I don't hate it. Sisko and Dax put in great performances. Is the romance moving at warp speed? Absolutely. But that's a Trek staple. Deanna, Riker, Beverly, and Geordie have all nearly thrown away their careers in the pursuit of their romances of the week.
ok so Alex is really bored to be making a Meridian trailer. Then again they liked Melora, they might surprise us.
Josh makes these
Ah yes, Star Trek's version of _'Brigadoon'._
Compared to the rest of the season this episode is weak. It’s not the worst love story in Star Trek.
Think about what you said after looking at the episode list for season 3. It’s almost a perfect season of great TV but you can’t always hit home runs with every episode.
When the trailer is better than the episode.
I am really interested in how Josh and Alex are going to react to this one, lol. I didn't realize so many people disliked this one so much. I always look forward to it because Jeffery Combs! Jonathan Frakes! The story, eh I don't hate it, it's fine, and there's some good world building.
They likely loved it given that Frakes directed.
Can't wait 'til we get past Kira's legs.
Monkey's Paw wish.
The trailer is exceptional. The episode.....is not. Season 3 has had a killer streak of winners so far. It eventually had to stumble
Stumble?? It stumbled off a cliff with this one! 😂
I will give this episode credit. It's actually a JADZIA episode without being all about Trill lore. The only episodes we've had so far that've come close are Blood Oath and Playing God. I just really don't care for this relationship. Bareil 2.0.
It is a rather "meh" outing, and the resolution is a retread of "Lonely Among Us".
As I said in my Patreon comment I found this episode to be very middle of the road when it comes to this season....which ironically makes the name Meridian very appropriate.
wait is this B plot the whole "getting a holo image of Kira" thing? EXCELLENT. S tier just for that reveal!
Yes it is THAT episode.
They picked the wrong Cullen. Shoulda gone with Edward. “Hold on while our planet phases out of existence, spider monkey.” I’m being salty because I remember not liking this episode, but the guys have changed my mind before, so I guess we’ll see?…
I don't particularly like this episode but I don't hate it as much as others seem to either so I'm genuinely excited to see what you make of it. Personally, I'm hoping for two S ratings just to watch the fall out in the comments. Should be entertaining! 😂
Superbly done! The Founders approve this trailer.
I genuinely have no idea how the boys will react to this - pro's for the directing and character-driven angle, maybe the B-plot they'll like? Who knows! Let's have fun finding out. Even if the ep may not be to everyones taste, maybe Alex and Josh liked it..? (Waiting for this to age like milk) 🤣
Aging milk can yield some awesome cheese.... or a home for maggots. It's a coin toss
Second Second Sight
I would pay 16 dollars to watch this movie
A cinematic trailer? Well, if you guys liked this one... I guess I'm glad it didn't break your streak...
You were wondering when the S3 streak of great episodes was going to end…
E tier episide with an S tier B Plot something wholly unique to any other trek. I could be wrong but I don’t think their heart is in this trailer
Still a very good job making a trailer that's more interesting than the episode itself. On the other hand, it would be quite the accomplishment to make it worse than the episode, considering the source material.
That trailer makes the episode seem better than it actually is. 😅 But I have to say, I love Jadzia's line to Sisko: "I've lived seven lifetimes, and I have never had a friend quite like you." It's such a precious friendship, and that scene is what makes the episode memorable for me. Love stories at first episode are always difficult, but they nailed this friendship. ❤️
From the director of Sub Rosa -- I see what you did there.
Meridian S tier incoming.
I like this episode, though it might be the worst of the season (that says more about how great the season is than anything else). I would not be surprised if the boys enjoy this; They love a love story, they love Frakes, the B plot is pure glorious cringe. The sci-fi premise is kind of interesting, the scene with Dax and Sisko is great, and it ends on a perfect downer. My only real critique is the actor who plays the love interest, has Vedek Bereil vibes; reminds me of the many boring suitors they tried to hook Troi up with over the years. Otherwise a fine episode, certainly not Aquiel bad.
I always got the idea that there must have been some bland ass, wooden, technically okay looking but in a "my grandma says he's handsome" way, brown haired white man making decisions on who to cast as male love interests. Just straight up looking in the mirror and saying "clearly this is what women yearn for." Buddy we can't all be Morn but at least TRY
I liked this one on broadcast but it dropped to a “b” for me later… I think there’s alot to like in this episode but easy to hate on bc a lot of trekkies don’t like love stories… I liked the trailer a lot tho! Well done Josh
I have no problem with love stories. As a kid, my favorite movie of all time was Titanic, i was a hardcore Mulder/Scully shipper, and when Lord of the Rings was my autistic special interest, what I liked nost about it were the love stories. Love stories have literally been obsessions for me. I just want the love stories to be good! It's hard to get invested in Star Trek's random love interests of the week because you know they aren't going to last beyond that one episode. And when they do, it's someone like Bareil. It's hard to set up a relationship that's actually believable and gets us to care, and end that same relationship all in one episode. Lessons is a masterclass in how to do this. But they don't always hit that bar. I liked the chemistry in We'll Always Have Paris. And in terms of ongoing relationships, I love the Keiko/O'Brien stuff, Troi/Riker stuff, ect. Even the Troi/Worf stuff is fine which I know rubs a lot of fans the wrong way. In fact, I think the only ongoing one I don't like is Kira/Bareil.
“Yes, everyone who was there remembers those days so vividly. It was early 2026, and, just for one fleeting moment in time, if you can believe it, we had three straight weeks of DS9 and even… yes, even a trailer for every episode.” “Not for – you don’t mean?” “Yes, even Meridian.”
🤣
“Somehow Directed by Jonathan Frakes”
Oh no! I totally forgot this was the episode with Sexy Quark Hologram! I wasted a disparaging patron take!
I always saw this episode as 98% boring, plus two or three moments of pure epic S+ tier glory, so it's very hard to define how I feel about it. So I'm looking forward to the guys' reaction very much, because they always manage to clarify my own thoughts and add some new ones.
Same. No idea, but I have a feeling they'll either adore it - or utterly despise it. Or both! 🤣
You finally got the DS9 equivalent of Aquiel...and E to end the string of Season three S Tiers...every great HR hitter strikes out so....
You equate this episode to Aquiel, really??
The B plot is better.
Is it possible? Are we 8 for 8 this season??
Glad you're enjoying this season so far. Can't wait for Generations and I'm hoping you enjoy that too!
The trailer didn’t work this time. Didn’t convince me.
That’s not what it’s for, but thank you for watching
Favorite episode of the Mirror Universe Josh & Alex
I know trailers doesn’t mean an s or a, but I had a feeling one of you might like this one, great trailer. The trailer is better than the episode
The only way they don't like this episode is if they don't buy into the alien love interest, the way they hate Kira's love interest Bareil. It clicked for me. I feel bad for Jadzia at the end. The Quark B plot is amusing and they like the Ferengi so they'll enjoy it.
