"Quaid...start the reactor!" the colonial was the host to Kuato in Total Recall probably his most recognizable role. Can't stop won't stop now the show only gets better from here! Let's keep it going! Some really stellar episodes still to come this season can't quit at 13!
Let's go for the Long Haul everyone.
One of the best of season 1. The next episode, Eve, is one of the best of the series!
'el government' is spanish for 'the government' it was hiding in plain sight the whole time
I also like the officious military prick saying to Scully we‘ RE not in the emergency room anymore Not because he’s being a prick in that scene, But he is justifying the viewpoint that everyone has of him as limited in scale and intellectual stature
I love it with a officious military prick gets put in his place by professionals doing their job such as Doctor Oppenheim
i love the x files reactions
The colonel also played a general in Starship Troopers
I'm in it for the long haul with the X Files
So many amazing on fire lines in this episode, absolute fire! My favorite, "And no one, no government agency has jurisdiction over the truth" Damn right!
I signed up for these dumb asses reacting to DS9 but I think I actually prefer these dumb asses reacting to X-Files.
Your Mulder and Scully impressions are so on point most of the time
I will stay a Patreon member after deep space nine if you guys keep on the X-Files
love it. keep it going
I want to believe, that you have no plans to quit this series.
you got your 7000 star trek episodes. go cope in a corner.
Rewatching these episodes with you guys, it's striking what a high level Chris Carter and his writers were already working at in season one, especially with the Mulder / Scully relationship. And as much as Duchovny and Anderson were great casting, the guest star actors are consistently of a high caliber as well. The best thing: the show only gets better from here.
Had The X-Files been cancelled, this would have made a satisfying conclusion.
"Think he's a Bob Marley fan?" Yo, that is definitely what Mulder would say about the Predator
W Reaction
Yess!! Can't wait to watch this when I get home.
Please keep watching!!!
Great episode! It's S tier for me. I like the back & forth between Mulder and Scully also the fact that regardless of what Mulder believes Scully still stands by him.
A great episode. Episodes like this nail what I love about the show. And there's more to come!
Just read that this episode although a great episode...was actually ratings wise was the lowest viewed episode of the entire series
I never knew that. On the other hand, it kinda makes sense considering this episode comes right after "Space." Understandable that it might of left a sour taste in peoples' mouths, making them less interested in tuning into the next episode.
I love the score in this episode. Mark Snow composed some great music for this show.
I also did not like Miri from TOS season 1 but from this point forward on X-Files it is all getting better....keep pushing forward
If the alien through-line is your thing, all I will say is "Buckle up boys, you're in for a serious and satisfying ride". 90%-95% of the "monster of the week" episodes are crazy good, too. Out of the first 7 seasons, 161 episodes, I would give 80 episodes an "A-" rating or higher. There are only 10 episodes that I would give a low rating. I am really looking forward to sharing some fun and Xciting X-Files viewing with you.
Screw MNF, we have MNXF with Alex & Josh, SO much better.
I have this on a DVD set that in included a behind the scenes feature on the special effects. It showed that the invisible creature was a man wearing a very weird orange body suit. It had no arms. I found it interesting, and some what amusing.
Same method used during the filming of Predator. Orange suit against the background of the forest
One of my favourite episodes from the first season. And, Josh, stop teasing. You're going to stick with the X-Files, you hear me!? ;) Seriously, guys. You won't regret it. And I'm having a blast rewatching with you both.
One of the highlights of this season! Right after what is considered the worst episode of S1, some say even the entire show. But this one here is great in all departments. Continues the alien plot, keeps enough open for your own imagination, gives a glimpse of what might be and what might come dispite the fact still just being in S1. Happy you two liked it, too. Keep it coming, guys. I really hope we make it past ep13 all the way to the end.
That low-angle fisheye lens accomplished a whole lot in terms of creepiness. I'm impressed. I also love the restraint in the storytelling — they gave us enough details to satisfy without overexplaining and ruining it. On another note, please keep watching this series. If it seems like too much work to give it the Star Trek treatment, then don't. Just watch it and give us a few minutes of commentary and call it a day. Works for me!
Also, Mulder during the questioning gave me strong Richard-Hatch-as-Apollo vibes. "How can I disprove lies that are stamped with an official seal? We both know the Cylons aren't looking for peace!"
I believe sending the military into Wisconsin this way is a violation of the posse comitatus act but I’m pretty sure that this is an example of the ends, justify the means and to hell with the constitution
MUFON is a real UFO research network run by individuals who join it was created in 1969 and predates The X-Files
Also, National Investigations Committee On Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) was an unidentified flying object (UFO) research organization active in the United States from 1956 to 1980. My mother was a member of NICAP. I had my first of 7 UFO sightings in 1967 of a 50 foot in diameter, bright orange sphere at about 150-200 feet away and 75-100 feet in the air, for about 5 minutes. I'm well past the "Want to believe" stage.
