To answer your question about nurses becoming doctors: They don’t need to start over. There is a program where they can just do additional classes and residency to become nurse practitioners. It’s basically identical to being a doctor, they treat patients and write prescriptions, they just work under a medical doctor’s supervision. They can go back to school and get their MD but this is a shorter route to basically the same thing. I worked in urgent care for 10 years and loved all of our nurse practitioners. They seemed more caring than the actual doctors because they started in hands on patient care before treating patients.
Also it's not even the first time it happened in Star Trek. In The Motion Picture Bones mentioned Chappell now being a Doctor.
To Josh’s question about nurses becoming a doctor I have no idea how common it is in real life but on ships named Enterprise set in Star Trek it also happened with Chapel in The Motion Picture
What's with that Ferengi head? The fucking thing keeps turning
Should've had one with Jellico and one with Shelby. That would have been incredible
They actually sing “For he’s a jolly good fellow” not happy birthday. Which honestly is a better song. It’s happier. Happy birthday sounds a little sad. Should have sung “Las Mañanitas”
RIP Nurse Ogawa
Good news! Happy Birthday is now public domain again! (But it wasn’t at the time of this episode)
Things that made me lol: Alex saying plant @ 8:58 Also Show: "Geordie's Dead" Josh: "oh, that's unfortunate. Anyways nurse Ogawa..." And finally Worf describes to Troy that Alexander was his son in a different reality. IN YOUR REALITY WORF! haha
