The Sims 4 Update 1.118: Big Fixes, Bigger Energy
It’s Simmer Talk time, and EA just dropped notes longer than a CVS receipt.
Hey babes, ᰔ
I’m cozy at my desk, staying hydrated with my trusty water bottle, and making sure my mods don’t combust before I dive back in. Patch day is never just patch day and this one’s big. EA rolled out a Base Game update for PC/Mac (Version 1.118), while console players are still on Version 2.20 until September 23. In the meantime, let’s break down the new features, the bug fixes, and how my CC is holding up so you know exactly what’s safe in your game.
✦ My CC Updates ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ )
Before we get into EA’s chaos, let’s talk about your mods folder.
All of my loading screens, plumbobs, and main menus are good to go.
I also made a small change to our wrenches: in CAS, the skintone section is now fully minimal. No wrench icons, no color dots, just smooth, cohesive flow. [Click the picture to download now]
✦ What’s New in the Game
This patch didn’t just squash bugs — it actually gave us a few fun toys:
Playground Venue: A brand-new venue type where kids and their chaperones can hang out after school. Perfect for storytelling and kid-focused save files. Upload your builds with #playground to share.
Play Pretend Interaction: Kids now have a full imagination menu — castles, pirates, house, space explorer, and island castaway — complete with themed VFX. It’s charming, it’s silly, and it finally gives child Sims something fresh.
Venue Type Filter: Event planning got a glow-up. You can now filter venues by type with a simple checkbox. No more scrolling through a mile-long list just to find “nightclub.”
Ecru Slouch Beanie: CAS players, rejoice. The slouch beanie got a new ecru swatch, softer than the blinding white.
Cross-Pack Tweaks: Soul’s Journey (Life & Death) now awards satisfaction points with balanced progression, and Merfolk (Island Living) finally have their own seashell bassinet.
Memory Boost (Early Access, Sept 23): This is the big one for performance. PC players will soon be able to enable it under Game Options > Other. Turning it on optimizes memory use, reduces lag, smooths frame rates, and cuts down on memory-related crashes. Recovery saves created while Memory Boost is active are tagged, and EA promises you’ll always have at least one fallback save. It’s opt-in, early access, and they’re actively asking for feedback.
Autumn Apparel Kit (Coming October): Three layered outfits and a brimmed hat drop just in time for sweater weather.
Now that you know what’s new with my CC and what EA added to the game, let’s talk about the part we all secretly scroll for: the bug fixes. And let me tell you, it’s a lot. From the Base Game to nearly every expansion, stuff pack, and kit, this patch is basically spring cleaning with a side of chaos. Here’s the rundown.
✦ Bug Fixes: Base Game
The Sims 4 September 18th patch notes are looonnngg, but here’s the highlight reel:
Sims with the entrepreneurial trait no longer skip whole careers. Sorry, no more LinkedIn speedruns.
Writing books doesn’t reset when interrupted. Your Great American Novel survives bathroom breaks.
Sims stop sitting down just to sip water. Hydration is grab-and-go again. Revolutionary.
The glowing “Venue Info” icon in Build Mode is fixed. It can rest now.
Shower floors no longer flicker like a rave. Goodbye, EDM bathrooms. ᵒᵒⁿᵗᶻ ᵒᵒⁿᵗᶻ
Holiday menus don’t vanish when swapping Sims. Christmas won’t ghost you anymore.
Bald infants’ brows are finally in order. Baby glam squad approved.
Curtains move with DX11 again — because apparently, even fabric needed a patch.
Death can’t be cheesed by scheduling an off-lot event mid-reaping. Grim is no longer booking around your calendar.
And that’s just the start — swatch corrections, catalog fixes, and enough tiny tweaks to fill a thesis. If you’re brave, dive into the full patch notes.
✦ Multiple Packs: Fixes
Some fixes hit across the board:
Skill cheats can lower skills again. Finally, your Sims can flunk on command.
Eyeglasses no longer look like sunglasses. Back to nerdy chic, no more accidental Ray-Bans.
Wall mailboxes live in the right category now. Your clutter hoarding just got easier.
Vampire and Fairy kids can summon a Privy Bush like everyone else. Equal rights in shrub summoning.
Fireplaces finally cast light in the right direction. Cozy vibes restored.
CAS Undo button works for occult Sims again. Even spellcasters deserve a redo.
✦ Bug Fixes: Expansions & Stuff Packs
Pack owners, EA touched almost everything this round:
Get to Work: Daring Hall Tree recategorized.
Cats & Dogs: Pets no longer morph into Picasso paintings every time they age and travel.
Island Living: Mermaid bassinets are back in stock, and the ocean finally stopped glitching like a bad green screen when you snorkel.
Discover University: Bike pedals actually meet your Sim’s feet now. Revolutionary. Also, clutter finally knows it’s clutter.
Eco Lifestyle: Bronze piercings are bronze, gold is gold. We’re no longer playing metallic roulette.
Growing Together: Diaper pails snap into changing stations like they always should’ve. Banquet tables show up in the right category so your wedding buffet isn’t MIA.
For Rent: Tenant events stop gaslighting you into failure even after you fixed everything. Landlord drama calmed (slightly).
Lovestruck: Missing color tags came crawling back. EA found the crayons.
Life & Death: Ghost kids finally appear when they should, Sims aren’t stuck in limbo after “de-ghosting,” and sinks can actually hold stuff. Look at us, progressing.
Enchanted by Nature: You can fertilize crops again, mullets behave with hats, and gnomes are no longer starting toilet fires. Yes, that was a real sentence.
Vampires: Your undead aren’t playing peek-a-boo during interactions anymore.
Realm of Magic: Stage stairs and vest swatches are back in line. Hogwarts would be proud.
✦ Kits
Sweet Slumber Party: Nails finally tagged for masculine Sims. Inclusivity wins in pajamas.
Greenhouse Haven: Doors that claimed to be green but showed up brown are now keeping it real.
And a sprinkle of other kit cleanups (duplicate swatches, tags behaving) because apparently EA has time for this.
Real Talk ૮ ․ ․ ྀིა
This patch was a lot — but honestly, that’s always The Sims 4 vibe.
Here’s my advice: be patient with creators. Patches this big always shake up mods and CC, and everyone’s doing their best to get things working again. If your game gets weird:
Try playing offline for a bit.
Check Scarlet’s Realm for info on your Mods.
And if you need help or just want to pop in and say hey — swing by the Mods Clinic or Ashley’s Little Hearts chat. We’ve got you covered.
Until next time,
