Adventure Awaits... and So Does a Feedback Fix

Simmer Talk is back with a feedback fix, a new EP with a full-blown identity spiral.

Hey Babes, ᰔ
Soooo.... Simmer Talk — I finally gave this newsletter a name, and I hope you’re feeling it. Something about it just clicks, you know? Also, it feels like we’re really building a space to connect, vent, laugh, and keep each other sane. I’ve been loving the conversations lately, and I genuinely feel like I’m getting to know y’all more and more with every post.

Now, let’s get into the news. Today we got a small but necessary patch and a whole new expansion reveal that has the Sims community doing backflips… Either out of excitement or pure rage. Depends who you ask.

Let’s Talk Mods (Because I Know You’re Scared)
Before we spiral, let’s check in on the mods. Everything on my end is looking clean:

  • Loading Screens — safe and looking gorgeous.

  • Phone Overrides — working perfectly.

  • Plumbobs & Wrenches — locked and serving.

  • Main Menu Mods — not broken, but not visible unless you’re offline...

Why? Because EA gave us live main menus now, and those override the static ones. So if your game is looking plain, it’s not my fault — it’s the internet. Literally.

The Feedback Fix (a.k.a. the Sept 4 Patch) Alright, let’s not pretend this was a big one.

Here’s what EA handled in PC & Mac: 1.117 / Console: Version 2.14:

  • Fixed the Pack Disabler feature greying out

  • Cleaned up a few invisible “game performance” gremlins (allegedly)

That’s it. That’s the patch.
Small. Quiet. Not destructive. Honestly? We’ll take it.

Adventure Awaits… Apparently

Alright. The newest expansion has entered the chat: Adventure Awaits, coming October 2nd. And if you’re wondering what kind of vibe this pack is bringing… it’s like Outdoor Retreat got a degree in therapy, Parenthood picked up survival skills, and they both moved to the woods to start over.

The new world is called Gibbi Point, and it’s split into three unique neighborhoods:

  • Little Falls: where all the rentals live. Think cozy cabins, scenic trails, and definitely a bear or two.

  • Lake Howl: the moody lakefront area with more mystery and just enough fog to make your Sims' relationship arguments feel cinematic.

  • Wanderer’s Landing: feels like a tiny town within the world — home to locals, lots of lore, and some surprisingly detailed builds.

Beyond the world itself, the pack includes:

  • A Getaway Planner that lets your Sims take mini-trips with tailored goals, like relaxing, exploring, or family bonding.

  • More layered child gameplay, including a build-your-own playground system and emotional development traits.

  • The return of Imaginary Friends — they start as plushies only certain Sims can see, but yes, they can turn into real Sims again (I know you were wondering).

There’s also relationship gameplay, survival activities like fishing and archery, and all the cozy-retreat mechanics you’d expect from a pack that wants to give your Sims an emotional reset in the forest.

Who This EP Might Be For
This one’s definitely speaking to:

  • Legacy players who love generational drama.

  • Storytellers looking for emotional gameplay.

  • Simmers who want more depth for kids and family play.

If you want slow, meaningful Sims moments with some nostalgic weirdness (hi, Imaginary Friends), you’ll probably vibe with it.

The Community’s Reaction? Chaos, as Usual

Let’s not sugarcoat it: this pack has the community completely split.

Some folks are excited, the generational players, the simmers who’ve been begging for more emotional and child-centered content, the ones who actually use backpacks in gameplay.

Others? Not having it. People are still losing save files. Fairies are broken. The game performance feels held together with CC and prayer. And now EA’s launching a cozy woodsy pack while allegedly deleting negative comments under the trailer?

It’s not a great look. And trust is thin.

Soooo... Is This the Last EP (for a While)?

The big rumor right now is that Adventure Awaits might be the final expansion pack for a while. There’s no EP listed past December 2025, and that’s got people hoping EA might finally be hitting pause to — dare we say it "fix the game."

Whether or not that’s actually true remains to be seen. But if the Sims team really is taking a breather after this to focus on stability and support? That might be the best expansion news we’ve gotten all year.

Let’s Close It Out – Real Talk
If you’re excited for Adventure Awaits, that’s valid. There’s potential here — especially if you love family gameplay, immersive storytelling, and a little bit of that classic Sims weirdness. If you’re side-eyeing the release because the game still crashes when you blink — that’s valid too. Me? I’m staying neutral but observant. Whatever happens, just know I’ll be here, watching, modding, updating — and keeping Simmer Talk honest.

That’s the tea for now.
Stay hydrated. And log off if it gets too loud — the forest will still be there when you’re ready.

More Soon,

Ashley aka Simbeautyguru ᰔ

ok, this Simmer Talk blog is seriously too cute, I love it. I just watched the A.A. trailer and while it's appealing for sure, I--I mean, I was excited for the Business & Hobbies, but after awhile, that excitement fizzled out, I never got it, and now I'm content with my current gameplay with my mods. And I think it's adeepindigo who has a rabbit hole summer camp mod which I love but always made me wish there were location based gameplay stuffs for the kiddos. Sooo while I'm excited for a new kids pack, it's a familiar excitement that will most likely fizzle out lol Because I refuse to add anymore issues to my game that I'm currently able to work through thanks to mods and playing things safe/offline!

Thank you bookie! And that's totally valid! You have to do what's best for your game and your setup. At the moment, playing offline is the best bet for most simmers, with all the glitches.

hi! i know u said the main menu mod isnt broken if we go offline. but whenever i go offline, its still the sims main menu except my household is missing? not sure what im doing wrong :C (i use steam if that affects anything)

Hey! No worries — I tested it myself before replying. The main menus do work, but only when you're fully offline. Make sure both your PC and Steam are disconnected from Wi-Fi. Velvet Menus show Sims, others don’t — depends on which one you have. If you still need help, drop into the Mod Clinic Chat so we can sort it out one-on-one!

For one, this is the team that created the bests EP so far - so I trust them to get it done. Second, it is not like EA isn't trying to fix the game - they have different teams working on different things. But this game is highly complex and that means it's not going to be easy to fix it. In general, I feel like no matter what EA would do, people will complain. Even if they fix every single bug, give the community every pack they want (which will be insane, because options on what is needed varies so much). re-fresh old packs and of course do all of that for free, the community or parts within the community would still be unhappy. Which I think is very sad.

Heyyy, I hear what you’re saying and I totally agree that development isn’t easy, especially with a game as complex and aged as The Sims 4. That said, I don’t think people are asking for perfection or expecting miracles overnight. They’re asking for consistency, communication, and some accountability after years of issues stacking up. It’s not about being “impossible to please,” it’s about the pattern of silence followed by broken content followed by another pack drop. That cycle wears people down... Especially when they’ve spent hundreds (or thousands) supporting the game. And hey, I made this space to talk about updates and give folks the room to share their thoughts. Not everyone will agree, and that’s okay. But minimizing players' frustration as just "complaining no matter what" kind of misses the point. But thanks again for joining the conversation and giving your perspective! (:≡

As a family/generational player - this definitely hit the right notes for me. HOWEVER, I am still skeptical. EA do be EA-ing so we shall see.

Same here! I’m just starting to dive into family and generational gameplay, so this one hits the mark perfectly! But let’s be real, we’ve all got our eyes glued. 👀

I watched the trailer got happy but then reminded myself that ea can’t seem to do anything right theses days. So I know it looks cool or whatever but I’m just not going. I’m not buying anything else until they really fix the game. 🤷🏾‍♀️… I love the name btw💛

First off!! thank you, babe! Listennn- same!! What I personally plan on doing (and what I’d tell literally anyone right now). Don’t rush to buy it. Sit tight. Wait for some honest reviews. If history’s taught us anything, it’s that there’s always a “quick little patch after they launch an ep. 🥲
