Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time Review (Patreon exclusive bonus video)
The FMV weirdness continues with Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time!
It's an oddball piece of historical fiction from a largely forgotten 90s PC game developer called "Cyberflix". Though edutainment at its core, AOOT is far from boring... And there's something about its lonesome, otherworldly atmosphere that I just can't get out of my head.

For some reason, the thought of sunken ships and specifically the wreck of the Titanic have always freaked me the hell out. Can barely even look at the photos of it at the bottom. Gotta say, this 20 minute look at this game spooked me in the same way. Might have to give it a spin. Thanks, Maj!
I remembered this game being totally FMV in every interaction with the NPCs. Amazing how technology can do that.
This was very cool, I was also interested to see the Christopher Walken game show up in the Ultima 8 video, looking forward to seeing that covered at some point.
Sooo Homestar retrospective when?;) Naw, but seriously. This one top of the amazing Pagan video was an amazing gift this week. Great stuff as always. Looking forward to whatever comes next, whenever. Keep doing you
Love your stuff Majulaar but have you been dipping in the AI jar? Some sentences reek of AI tropes, like the last one, not because of x but despite of it.
AI tropes? I didn't know AI invented conjunctions.
This is great. And my unsolicited suggestion is that "Buried In Time" would be a good FMV to look at. It's got "pristine" acting, you can get killed by shooting yourself with a Da Vinci invention, and it has the famous "cheese girl." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNF8i5moGQQ
Seeing this game reminds me of all the times i would watch my mom and sisters play the clue series of games on the pc all the time! Thank ya so much it always seems like the stuff you cover lets me reminisce about watching my family play games, its my dad playing Never Winter Nights or Final Fantasy or my mom playing any given clue game
We love your FMV videos! Your appreciation for the uncanny facial animations (and the technical restraints that brought them into existence) matches our fascination with that era of PC gaming, too. And while we also frown when people throw around “this aged poorly,” you make a compelling argument for why that can be a charm point in itself. It reminded us of how 4K video makes it all too easy to see the wires in an old monster movie, but that only endears us further to the film.
Can't tell you how jazzed I was to see this post pop up!!! This game scared me REAL bad when I was a little kid (even the bombing in the opening scene made me freak out), but I was, and still am, incredibly fascinated by it on so many levels. It also kickstarted an interest in the Titanic for real real-- imagine my delight when I discovered the Titanic: Honor & Glory project has an homage to Adventure Out Of Time in their ship recreation!!
This rocks. Titanic and Journeyman Project: Turbo occupy an unreasonable amount of my brainspace; it's just plain fun to hear you talk about shit like this. Thanks my man!
Ooo. Reminding me I need to get back on my Journeyman Project series replays (well, replay for 1 and 2T, it'll be a first-play for 3).
Loved this game as a kid.
Lord help me this won't go full screen on Firefox. It just plays the audio again and I get this crazzzzzzy echo.
Finally. What we all were waiting for! Can’t believe he spent so much time on that silly “Ultima” thing while he kept us waiting for this!
Oh blessed day
You spoil us dear lad
The Goat! Thank you!
I would absolutely become a person of lordly caliber for a Homestar Runner retrospective.
I would watch the shit out of a Homestar Runner retrospective, just putting that out there.
My GOAT!!!
A new bonus!! My night is made as always, thank you Majuular! Hope you guys are comfy up in Canada!
A second video in as many days, you treat us so well
My dad and I would play this game together. After I went to sleep he would keep playing and I’d hear the music from my bedroom. I used to have nightmares with the staircase soundtrack looping. One of my favorite games of all time. My adventure game friends and I have a titanic party and play through it once a year. I wish they’d press this soundtrack to vinyl.
That's a quintessential FMV adventure game memory right there. I can definitely see how this game would be the source of some weird dreams.
Boy you sure can surprise a guy Maj. I love this game glad to see you covering it.
Hell yeah. I've got insane nostalgia for this game cuz my mom liked to play it.
Thank you! I never finished the timed sequence at the end...
