TOOL v2.8.10 - Escape & Visual Fix
2.8.10 UPDATE:
Tracked down and fixed Escape issue, where dialogs would get "hidden" in queue and reappear when saving the game.
Fixed borders of dialogs lacking rounded edges.

TOOL v2.8 comes with a draggable dialog window! Just click on the TOOL dialog title and drag it to where you'd like the dialog to be. This setting will automatically load when starting a new game session.

TOOL now has a Stay Open option in settings that will repeat the last command until the user click cancel.
By feedback patrons' decision, the stay open option is on by default. If you prefer not to use this option, please be sure to turn it off in settings when installing a fresh copy of TOOL.
Fixed a specific scenario where the move grid does not disappear, triggered by deactivating all objects before clicking OK to the move prompt.

2.5 UPDATES:
TOOL will now notify you in-game when an update is available. This should help reduce the amount of people clinging to year old versions of TOOL.
Due to a game bug introduced by EA several patches ago, off-lot objects were disappearing any time players loaded an apartment/dorm style lot. I've implemented a workaround for this.
Reduced the radius for closing the grouping box, as TOOL users are usually working in a smaller space than Create-A-World testers. This means you'll be able to click closer to the original point before it will snap close.

The grouping box now supports any polygonal shape.

TOOL v2.3 brings a new feature called Rotate Around Center. It's a toggle in the rotate dialog that lets you choose whether group rotation will rotate all objects around their own axis, or around the group's center.
This video demonstrates the difference.
Many players requested this, as it'll allow them to rotate TOOL-only builds after they've finished, instead of having to plan which rotation they want to begin with. I hope everyone enjoys.

Added an improved rotation indicator. The circle is now a gradient.
Dim = 0. Bright = 360.
Positive rotation amounts will always move dim -> bright.

TOOL Build Mode Quick-Start
Better BuildBuy must also be installed.
The usage is the same as regular TOOL, except you will automatically be placed in TOOL mode any time the TOOL dialog is open.
Toggle TOOL in build mode by pressing Shift+T
In addition, shift+clicking surfaces will automatically place a group box marker. This can be used in combination with the Toggle Group button to highlight many objects at once.
When the TOOL extension is open, ctrl+z and ctrl+y will handle the TOOL undo/redo instead of the buildbuy undo/redo. Buildbuy undo still works when TOOL is closed.

Install Instructions
⚠ FOLLOW IT WORD FOR WORD. ⚠
1. Delete any existing copies you have for TOOL.
2. DONT use any zip extract options. Instead, OPEN the "TwistedMexi's TOOL v2.8.9 Official" zip by clicking it and drag the "Tmex-TOOL" folder inside to your mods root. That's it! Do NOT restructure or modify the files in any way.
3. Make sure 👉Script👈 Mods are enabled in gameplay options -> "Other". Restart if it wasn't.

Hi! I didn`t want to ask here because I don`t want to seem impatient, but from yesterday`s update ( May 27th 2025), my UI broke. I am not new to tool mod. I removed all mods before the update and updated the game. I wanted to try what mods could be messing with UI, hoping it wasn`t this one, hehe. So, I removed the MC command and my UI was fixed. So I thought that was the problem and then put back the tool mod. I am so confused, because my tool mod is not there. Is it common that after the update, when you turn on back the cc and scripts and put back the mods, they don`t show up anymore at all? I would understand if there was still broken UI, but no, that was ok. I restarted the game but my tool mod is not there. I have put the files into mods folder directly. No sub folders at all. This never happened to me before. Thanks.
Just got this update the other day and now Scarlet has it broken with the new update patch. So bummed out. I know it takes time to update so I totally understand.

Hi TM, I have a question. Does Weerbesu's UI cheats extension still conflict with TOOL, or has there been a fix of sorts? I really love TOOL and can't live without it, but I do miss UI cheats lol.
it doesent work , even deleted all my mods with just the tool mod and it still would not work. Yes I have script mods enabled

I am really green when it comes to mods. I'm using them for the first time. The better exceptions mod keeps popping up and reporting tool, better build buy and the one that helps to select poses but I'm wondering if anyone can help me troubleshoot?
the tool mod is working now. I used it earlier in my game. What is the report saying? TM has a discord, perhaps you can join and post your exceptions there

yes BBB and searchable pose player are both broken. Just remove both mods and wait until they are updated

I want to thank you for creating TOOL and BBB for us. Without them, building is only half as good and useful. I understand, and surely others do too, that dealing with updates can be quite frustrating. EA doesn’t spare us from them, and every time, it’s a struggle to get everything working again. Thank goodness you are OK, and not because the update! I don't know how to use TOOL. I'm just a worst case scenario, jump to conclusions kind of person. You are an essential Modder ( for a lot of Simmers) Hadn't seen or heard from you in a minute.
