Print in Progress
Hey my loves! โจ
Something a little different for you today. If you read my last post, you know I'm facing a new chapter, and as part of that journey I'm giving myself full permission to lean into my art while applying for jobs and all that jazz.
Today, I'm here to share my very first personal print design with you! Up until now, I've only ever done commissioned client or agency work, so finally creating something for myself and sharing it with you guys feels like a huge step in the right direction. ๐ฅณ
I know this aesthetic style won't be for everyone, but if you're curious about my process or just want to see all the variations, I've shared them below!
The final print will be available inside of my Patreon shop as a limited run. It's my first print product (ever), so I want to keep it manageable while I figure out logistics and make sure I can fulfill orders in a timely fashion. ๐ Sizes TBD!
So, fun fact...
I used to be a professional graphic designer! ๐ฉโ๐ป I worked for years in web and graphic design before finally landing in the branding niche, and one of my favorite things to design was typography. So when I was browsing Pinterest the other day and saving ideas for some art I'd like to make for my office, I thought it would be fun to create some typography around my love for the Sims.
And my top reason for never wanting to go out on weekends? ๐
To be honest, I'm not sure what "my" aesthetic is. A little boho? A little eclectic?
Because of that, I'll be experimenting in different styles for each piece. But for this one, I went with a warm maximalist vibe using bubbly type, wild colors, and fun patterns. Something to liven up my office and look good on shelf with all my (happily fake) plants. ๐ชด
I started with a font to roughly block out the composition, then hand-drew some patterns and border elements in Procreate. For this poster, I customized the typography by hand (usually I would do it with the pencil tool in Illustrator) by reshaping the 'p' and 'g' for balance, rounding & flaring some of the letter shapes, and improving the kerning so it worked better with the layout.
I knew there were going to be endless color possibilities, so I built the file to support a lot of experimentation! โจ
I personally love the pink/orange checkers, the blue text and yellow stripes, and the simple orange text on a plain background... ๐ค
๐ญ Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! I think there will be a few options available when the product goes live & I'm happy to include the top faves.

Oh, and since you asked, other than the original mockup, my favorite of the 15 that you've created is the one in the lower left corner with the pink and green stripe background with the darker pink script over a plain white center. It reminds me of a carnival. Thank you!
Hi! May I make a suggestion? How about making a print in the original mockup that can be downloaded for the game? After all, we don't always know what our Sims are doing on their computers when we aren't looking.
Hi! I was thinking of creating versions for the game as well! Breaking the fourth wall as they say ๐ I just need to find the right mesh to apply them to and I'd be happy to share them as CC as well! Thank you for the suggestion ~ I wasn't sure if anyone would want them in game ๐คญ
My game room is blck and pink, love them.
Ooo I really love a black/pink look! I'm so glad you love them, thank you for the kind comment!!
Etsy link?
Hi!! Ty for asking! I'm just getting started so I don't have an Etsy shop yet, but I'm planning on selling prints directly here on Patreon through the shop tab. I'll be sure to drop a post when they go live!
