Monthly Rec's #001

Hi! I mentioned in my recent Field Notes that I was considering reworking The Simday Paper to into a shorter column that's more manageable for me to write around all of the other content I'm creating.

Since I love sharing my recs, finds, and mods, I've decided to minimize the paper into a simpler list of things I'm loving right now. ✨

Inside this month's letter:

  • 🪻 My favorite spring wildflowers for decorating your world.

  • 🏆 This month's top 5: from new functional objects to better camera settings.

  • 🦇 Vampire occult mods I've recently discovered.

  • 📌 3 inspiring posts from my recent bookmarks.

🪻 seasonal rec's: spring wildflowers.

I don't know if this is just a me thing, but I'm an absolute geek about landscaping in The Sims 🥹 Since we're heading into spring, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite wildflowers for decorating your world:

🏆 this month's top 5.

  • I'm obsessed with functional objects, so this one tops the list: a functional water cooler for office spaces. 🥹

  • I'm currently building a ramen shop in San Myshuno's spice district and couldn't live without the Washoku and Kissaten collections by BI+CO. 🍜 Specifically the wall-mounted table from this set.

  • I was looking for a dark and cinematic gshade preset for my vampires in Forgotten Hollow and this one is perfect! It's so moody.

  • This muscle overlay 💪 creates amazing definition for your masculine sims, especially on the arms.

  • If you've seen my videos, you know how much I hate the in-game camera, so I'm currently testing out these camera settings and enjoying them!

🦇 recent mod discoveries: vampire occult mods.

Since I've been busy building and making sims, I haven't made much time for gameplay, but I am thinking through which mods I want to use in my save files. Here's a few I'm currently testing for vampires in my medieval fantasy save:

  • A Reason to Slay – Makes vampires more menacing and villainous with their attacks. I thought this would be great for drama in my medieval save, for any who dare to brave the Darkwood of Forgotten Hollow...

  • Dhampyrs Extended – Adds more complexity to your vampire offspring. It rolls for traits and perks as they age, so not every "Dhampyr" (vampire descendent) will have the same abilities even though they're from a vampire bloodline.

  • Vampires Revamped – Adds new interactions and buffs for your vampires when it comes to drinking from their victims 🩸

ICYMI check out my first Mod Labs video where I experiment with the Animated Wings mod and the pose player to create a cool flying vampire machinima moment 🦇✨
