Riverrun's blacksmith + a sneak peek of Magnolia's Promenade's new retail shops
Sul sul, friends! How was your week?
I have been in and out of game a lot over the last few days–I have a loooong list of content I'm trying to create by the end of the month. Here's what I got into this week!
⚔️ Working on Riverrun's Blacksmith
I got it in my head pretty early on after creating Riverrun that I wanted to do a gender-bender of the stereotypical blacksmith–a battle-tested woman with scars and prominent features that capture the story of her life.
As with every sim I create, I don't think I got her quite right on my first try–just looking at her here, I can see some tweaks I want to make–but here's a WIP snapshot of her so far + the references I'm using for her and her assistant (I imagine him to be like a big non-human sim who lowkey terrifies the villagers 🤭).
💭 Any suggestions on what her name should be? I'm open to ideas!
When I got in game to get pics of her, I took a second to check out Jane Simsten's blacksmithing mod. It was really f*n cool, I won't lie. Can't wait to get some videos of her working in the forge! The animations make her whole vibe come to life.
🥳 My first test stream on Twitch was a success!
I tested out my first stream on Twitch with a few friends–super grateful to everyone who came out to support me–and I'm happy to say it went well! I thought I would be really nervous but it felt pretty natural to narrate what I was doing (working on the blacksmith's home), and it was fun to engage with people in the chat. My camera decided not to work so sadly everyone missed out on seeing my no-makeup face (🤪) but other than that, it was a vibe. Super excited to start streaming for you guys so you can see what I'm up to in game in real time!
🛍️ Continuing my retail build in Magnolia Promenade
In addition to finishing Riverrun, I've been working on Magnolia Promenade in my forever save so I can get into gameplay. I have my mind set on doing rotational gameplay so I can fiddle around with different themes I want to explore. More details on this later, but having the option to get in some gameplay time allows me to switch it up when building starts to feel a bit stale. I mean let's face it–a TON of work goes into making save files, and sometimes you just want to PLAY, you know? I think it's important to find balance along the way.
Literally I'm SO in love with these shops. Each of the bags in-store are available in CAS, and with these new overrides, the Coach bags from the free update work as storage. My sims will also be able to come to the perfume shop and buy functional perfumes. 🌸 I love functional objects. They just make the game that much more immersive.
Coming up:
Mini CC Finds – a few favorite finds from my new art gallery.
January's newsletter – prepping for love day, tips for creating a more immersive medieval save, things I'm loving right now, and getting ready for the Royalty EP!
Join me on Twitch! – let's go BTS as I continue to work on Riverrun.
CAS process video for making my blacksmith.
An introduction to my first mini series/short story for Patreon (hint: it's an occult romance.)
Stay tuned!
