Building a Cozy Medieval Village in The Sims 4

Hey guys! How's your week going? I'm currently rummaging through all of the pictures I've taken and I'm crazy excited to share a few sneak-peeks of this project with you!

Over the last few weeks, I've been trying to rest and recharge–work has been beautifully abundant this summer, but it's also left me burnt TF out and I'm finding my creativity has dried up like a dusty old well. Writing still feels impossible, but as part of my recovery I've been getting in game without too much of an agenda, and after weeks of planning, terrain-sculpting, and placing 10,000 blades of grass, I'm happy to introduce to you: the first lot from my medieval fantasy save, a quiet farming village off the Golden Circle (a major trade route that connects the countryside to the hustle and bustle of the capital city.)

I won't dive too far into the details yet–I'll do a complete tour once the interiors are finished and the villagers have moved in–but for now here's a shortlist of the village's primary features:

  • 🍻 Tavern & Inn – a central gathering place for food, gossip, and wayward travelers to find respite. Characters can also rent a room for the night as they pass through towns.

  • ⚔️ Smithy – for acquiring new tools, equipment, and weapons. The local blacksmith and her frightening companion both live on-site.

  • 🏘️ Market Square – where you'll find baked goods and fresh produce, along with arts and crafts from local farmers or artisans.

  • 🛁 Communal Bathhouse – situated right off the small river that cuts through town.

  • 🏹 Armory – the village's cache of weapons for whatever may come with tensions brewing between the human and fae realms. But for now, it's a great spot for weapons practice.

  • 🙏 Sanctuary – a small temple at the back of the village, for those who still pray to their patron gods.

  • 🪙 The Town Well – a 'wishing well,' many call it–you'll find personal items littered around its old stones for luck. The Baron sends someone to collect the trinkets every fortnight.

  • 🐴 Stables – horses can stay here overnight...for a fee, of course!

  • 🏠 Village Residences – a total of six homes, one of which belongs to an apothecary 🌿

Thank you so much for reading!

Wow this is insanely cool 😭 do you play with the medieval mod?

Hi! Thank you! I'm really glad you like it. Do you mean like the Royalty mod? I have it but haven't played with it extensively (yet!). I certainly plan to. I also play with like a ton of other smaller medieval mods–like Littlbowbub's recipes and gameplay mods–as well as overrides to add to the immersion.

Is there any chance of you releasing this as a save file someday?

Hi Vicky! I'm not sure if I'll be able to release the whole save file, but I definitely plan on sharing some (maybe lite?) versions of my lots with my community here 🤍 They're so CC heavy that I'm not certain they're that easy to share (or practical), but I'm hoping to find a reasonable way to do it in the future, either in the very least as shells (so the exterior stays in tact) or just minimal, de-cluttered versions of the original lots.

YES with a lot of heavy lifting, it can be done. There's–thankfully–so many good historical finds/mods out there and it seems like a lot of people enjoy this kind of gameplay. You should come try it out and build a medieval world with me! 😁
