An Open Discussion
Hey Everyone, I just wanted to come on and discuss one of my projects I've spent quite a while working on that seems to be, other than a few, otherwise disliked from the patreon, and I just wanted to see why, and if there is a remedy for it.
For the past year and a half, I've been working on the OB/CD project. Its inception started when I was playing around with a new ai tool at the time, Suno. I wrote some lyrics and had it create a fun punk song. I really enjoyed it, shared it on discord, and someone there mentioned how interesting it would be to have a feedist punk band, and we even came up with a name for it, OB/CD (obesity). Since then, I wanted to expand on the idea, the universe, etc. I wrote the lyrics for over 21 songs (and yes, used ai to produce the music portion), made a couple music videos, created an album art book, hired a writer to write a long form comic (something like 50ish pages long), and have been working on that steadily for the past few months.
I'm really excited and passionate about this project, and it makes me sad to see that ya'll don't seem to feel the same way. And, this isn't a dig on any of you by any means, you like what you like. I just wanted to sit down with you and have a discussion about 1) what you dislike about the project, 2) what you do like about the project, 3) what I can change to make it better for everyone.
Is it solely the fact that I used AI for the music production? Is it the art style itself? Is it the entire concept? Anything else? If it is the AI use for music production, if I'm able to find out an alternative (say, an actual punk band or something) to record the music, would your opinion on the project change?
Anyways, I'll get off my soap box and let you have the floor. There are no wrong opinions, there will be no hurt feelings. Your input will be greatly valued.

I love the project, and I realize this is fetish art, niche fetish art at that, and exists only as fantasy. (I mean, yes, there are real feeders & feedees out there, but this is fantasy art dictating a VERY exaggerated version of IRL feedism.) As such, I see no reason to expect an IRL version of this art existing, and I see no reason to boycott anyone from using Artificial Intelligence to create an artificial world that only exists in a fetish space. Hiring a punk band to sing fetish material they probably wouldn't understand would probably be creepy, and feel compromising to all parties involved. I'm not fond of A.I. either, but I'm not gonna stop it via protest, and don't think we should be taking a kink art fantasy world that seriously. The songs work, the illusion works, (I didn't know it was A.I. at first), all of this works best if we just enjoy it and don't think too hard about it. I enjoy niche erotic art that's wickedly taboo in a smart way that excites me. I don't expect the Sistine chapel, Beethoven's ninth, or the Beatle's White album. That's my two cents. Also, do you make enough money off of us to afford a band plus studio time?? I can't imagine making an IRL album of this would be profitable for you.
its not cheap, I'll tell you xD. rough estimate would be about 5200-5500 for the entire album to be recreated. It'd probably be 4-5 months of patreon to pay for the whole thing. And you're not wrong about hiring a nonfetish band to play fetish music. It was one of the reasons I felt it was okay to provide a free album with ai music production in the first place. There just isn't competition in that space, and I wasn't charging anyone for it. But if AI gives that much stigma that I can't provide free supplemental world building content by using it that it hurts the overall project. I just dunno.
stated it before, its really just the AI thing for me. the idea is obviously great and I'd love it as much as your other projects I'm sure, but I can't condone the use of GenAI in the project. Even if you can find and hire a real artist to make music for the project, having no music would be better than having GenAI music.
Absolutely agree
