Godot Intro 1: Making a Clock
Here is my first Godot tutorial, finally!
We're going all the way back to the basics, and once again we start with a clock. This is an absolute beginner tutorial. We're not even programming yet, that will be introduced in part 2.
The Godot tutorial has a updated style and some new web features. Let me know if anything isn't working properly for you. Once it's been tested and possibly tweaked I will also start applying it to Unity tutorials.

Thank you Jasper! I just wanted to say that I'm a returning supporter, I used to follow your Unity tutorials and they were excellent but I switched to Godot in the meantime. I'm so excited for these tutorials! (I'm sure the whole Godot community is)
You're welcome, glad to have you back!
Now I'm eager for the next Godot tutorial. :-)
That's the spirit!
P.S. I was about to write that in 6.2, I could never find the dark purple rectangle in the editor viewport. Then by squinting hard I thought maybe I could see it. Between the snapping grid, and the x and y axes that coincide with half of it, and the dark background, and the very thin lines, it was very difficult to distinguish the scene viewport. Turning off the snapping grid helped. With some searching, I learned how to change the viewport border color and transparency, which helped more: https://ask.godotengine.org/116471/change-color-and-thickness-of-x-and-y-axis-as-well-as-viewport
Yes it is indeed hard to see. I forgot that I had increased its opacity. I added a Q&A for it.
Also a minor typo: under 6.2, where it says "Project › Project Settings... › Application › Display › Window", the "Application" step shouldn't be there, as Display is a sibling of Application, not a child. At least in Godot v4.1.3.stable.mono.official [f06b6836a]
Thanks, fixed!
A question in this tutorial ... at 3.2, what is the point of using a GradientTexture, when you end up making it all one color? My guesses: 1) a radial fill makes it easy to make a circle; 2) it may be all one color, but the alpha channel has a (short) gradient from opaque to transparent.
Yes, the gradient is for alpha only.
Thank you. This is valuable to me!
That's the goal. You're welcome!
The journey begins… I am so excite!
Let's go!
