American Satan is back up!
It's been a weird week or some. Someone in my Discord server called it a 'week of Mondays' and I couldn't agree more. I feel like I've been trying to get back into the swing of things but it's rather slow going -- maybe I'm just tired.
Regardless, here's a spot of good news! The American Satan video has returned to YouTube. It appears I have won the victory of fair use or whatever. The truth of it is, I submitted a counter notification about 10 days ago and waited. In that time I spoke to a couple producers related to this and similar films to try and get Sumerian to reinstate the video and not-sue me. But no matter who I contacted by email or phone, no one answered back. The producers tried to speak with folks involved in the takedown and the same happened. No one answered.
But the good news is, I never got hit with a lawsuit, I never received a threatening email, I never heard a thing. My video was just removed with such a casual attitude that no matter what I did in regards to the takedown, the accuser didn't much care and just wanted to delay my voice on the film as long as possible. This is more frustrating than anything because I believe the video would have done rather well if it had lived a full lifespan. But here we are.
The video is back up but I have oddly mixed views on the last ten days and how this has all gone down. I haven't really experienced this whole 'copyright infringement as a means to censor' thing before and it's a bit strange. I kinda wonder if it's going to go down again and I will be forced to fight this again, I guess we'll find out.
Apologies if this post was somewhat of a bummer, I'm just very tired.
