Hazelnut Latte v0.15 Alpha 1 Progress Report 1/27/26

Hello and welcome to another Progress Report!

Special Moment animations have made good progress in the last week. Two moments are finished, with another in progress. These moments have a certain quirk that takes them a bit longer, but you'll have to wait for our Big Reveal™ to see that. There are five left to finish, but progress will slow next week as Koth has some schoolwork to focus on.

Not about the first Alpha, but Kokman has finished the special moments needed for the second half of v0.15! A few just need backgrounds, but they are in that area we haven't designed yet. Now that he's done with this episode's work, we're going to start planning v0.16's art. It's nice to have him working ahead.

UI art hasn't changed, but there has been progress made! The big piece we are working on is almost done and might actually get finished between me writing this and the report being posted. It is a really important menu that I think will blow people away. On top of that, another UI art is half done. I imagine this bar jumping next week.

As for coding, we've been implementing the secret system and doing some additional work on it. We had some new improvements we wanted to add, so we pivoted from the menus, which are being illustrated, to work on this. There has also been a lot of cleaning up old code that is irrelevant in favor of new and improved code.

Some quick personal stuff on my end. I am moving next month! Thankfully, I gave myself 3 weeks between getting the keys to my new place and having to vacate my old place. Plenty of time to get everything out without stressing like last time. I do hope this doesn't affect my work too much, but there will be some days I leave early to pack boxes and then the actual move. But it's a bigger space, easier access to the office, and better proximity to stores. Also, it's basically tax season, so I get to stress about that at the same time! Yay!

Slower week, but with the cold snap and all of the awful things happening in Minnesota right now, it's been hard to focus on cute guys kissing. I read the news, and it's just horrifying what is being allowed to happen in this supposed "Land of the Free", but here we are. As the husband of an immigrant, ICE scares the absolute shit out of my family and me. Not to mention having empathy makes it hard to concentrate on anything when every other day someone is executed by the government. Sorry if that is dark, but we are living in dark times.

I hope everyone stays safe out there, and the team appreciates your continued support. You are the ones who keep this game going, who keep us able to pay rent and buy food. It's thanks to you that I'm able to hire a team of talented artists who are working hard to make the best game possible.
