I honestly forgot about Launch. Lol. What a great character.

At that moment in time, Toriyama's mangas were basically comedies. His humor is basically slapstick (the boys get shot but don't bleed or die), surreal (Launch getting a machine gun out of nowhere) or even meta (there was a Toriyama Wanted poster in the Saloon). He also uses puns, toilet humor and parodies of Japanese and American culture. Anything goes. Dr. Slump was just like that. One character could split the whole planet in half with one punch and everything would be fine the next scene. Transitioning from there to DB was pretty easy. The thing is, no one expected DB to go on for so long or become such a "serious" shonen so you may notice some inconsistencies in the power levels along the way. Don't overthink them and enjoy the ride. ❤️ P.S. The only true "serious" fight that we have seen so far is Goku vs Yamcha. Can you imagine watching 15 episodes of Naruto or Bleach with only one true fight in them? That's one of the reasons why many consider Toriyama the GOAT.

Toriyama is the most laziest but most creative when it comes to naming people. There's a character in the named Granola, a Cerealian from the planet Cereal and named so because that's what Tomiyama had for breakfast that day. Obviously Launch is a play on Lunch
