Tbh when i was watching ongoing i didn't expect gear 4th like i didn't expect the 2nd and 3rd, well since we have seen 2nd and 3rd you might have guessed that its possible to go further but it has been like 500 episodes from both gear 2nd and 3rd which it might make you think there isn't much more to it.. Then Haki got involved so we got the gear 4th but still its a long time between the events to guess that now is the time for a new gear. I don't say you got spoiled or you knew beforehand but for me 10 years ago it wasn't so clear what was going to happen but maybe i'm dumb :')

Guys, they're human. It's literally not possible for them to completely avoid every spoiler in the world unless they live in a cave and don't go on any website besides patreon.com. Literally, you'll see pictures of future One piece content just walking through town lol. It's more that they have seen it, but do not know any INFORMATION about it. "White hair Luffy" is literally seen almost at any place that has anything remotely to do with anime. Go to a Target and if there's a section that has anything related to anime, they'll see it. But they have no knowledge of it and as long as we keep that as it is, they are not really getting spoiled.

Remember Blackbeard was still able to steal Whitebeard's devil fruit powers after he died. Maybe there is a time limit hence Blackbeard appeared at Marineford. And Burgess has no devil fruit powers. He was at Dressrosa for the Flame-Flame fruit.

I don’t thinkkk this is spoilerish, but I believe if you kill a devil fruit user the devil fruit power will embed itself into the nearest fruit to where that user died I believe. I think Burgess knows this and he thinks if he can kill Luffy then just search all the surrounding fruits nearby until he finds the gum gum fruit and then he wants to take it and give it to Blackbeard. I believe that was his intention. This knowledge isn’t well known but doffy knows because of his connections this is what happens when a user dies and this is how he obtained Ace’s fruit. He witnessed Ace die and then immediately went searching all nearby fruits.

Normally, when a Devil Fruit user dies, their Devil Fruit is supposed to respawn somewhere else. But at Marineford, Blackbeard somehow stole Whitebeard’s Devil Fruit immediately after he died. The scene where Burgess says he’ll kill Luffy and take his Devil Fruit was meant to show that there’s a way to steal a Devil Fruit directly from its user before it respawns. Up until that point in the story, we still didn’t know whether Blackbeard was able to steal Whitebeard’s Devil Fruit because of the Dark-Dark Fruit’s power or because the Blackbeard Pirates knew a secret method of extracting Devil Fruits. So Burgess going after Luffy’s fruit suggests that it wasn’t necessarily Blackbeard’s Devil Fruit ability that made it possible. Instead, it shows that the Blackbeard Pirates know a special method for stealing Devil Fruits after killing the user.

I'm trying to think of who has the worst mastery of their devil fruit, the only one that comes to mind is Buggy. If I had his fruit I'd try to break into so many pieces that people would think I had crocodiles fruit. He did hide his buggy bomb in his foot, but what about spears and knives?
