I remember watching it on kiss anime in high school and i couldn’t contain my laughter it was so funny 😂
Its a shame how humor changed and got censored over time and now there's no autor who dares to do this again. What they took from us is incalculable
So we're not gonna point out that Michelle has a rabbit/bunny on her dress?! ^^'
Pilaf's henchmen are also Shu and Mai, as another gag.
Don’t disrespect daemon Targaryen’s voice like that😭
the way i like to look at it is this is an alternate earth where the dinos were never wiped out...we use fossils for fuel so imagine what else could of been provided with living ones... maybe dino caps? and its in a distant future aswell where many species evolved as they coexist with humans like dogs cats and apes do but with so many more years ahead maybe and thats why they talk etc lol
Luffy is goku coded don’t disrespect the og
Was dragon ball always this good and funny? I watched this when I was gokus age lol
I get nostalgia from these reactions, I grew up watching the show with my older sister 😭
I'm glad Ron noticed the "Toriya Motors" in the background. Oda did the same thing in One Piece as an easter egg for his name. It happened during the ASL flashback on a restaurant. I thought Yamcha VA was Kiba, he kind of sounds like him especially when Yamcha kept saying "wolf fang" previous episodes but its Christopher Sabat (Zoro VA) he's got range, couldn't tell it was him when I usually can pick up his voice. Great VAs. Rabbit soup is crazy Ron 💀 I thought Goku was gonna take that rabbit and cook it over a fire like he did that wolf 😂
In the early 90s-2000s a lot of anime used the same DUB VA since there was only like 12 of the same VAs at the time. That's why you hear all of them in DBZ, YuYu Hakusho, Early One piece, FMA and more
Also- apparently according to Japanese folklore, the moon's craters are said to resemble a rabbit pounding mochi with a mallet, which is probably where Toriyama pulled this ending from lmao
OG DB dub is pure comedy
Pig years are different to human years btw. Oolong is in his mid 40s in human years
I should not have been wearing headphones for that intro 😅
Just to add some context: at the time these episodes were dubbed, animation in general in the West was mostly considered something made only for children, with very few exceptions. Unlike Japan, which has a strong tradition of animation, in the West voice actors often made things more childish and exaggerated, sometimes not taking the material as seriously as they would with other types of works. This isn’t a criticism, just some context from that era. Because of that, we got a lot of funny gems—not only in Dragon Ball, but in many other works from that time.
this is earth btw
I don’t think you guys realize how many people haven’t even watched og db. A lot of ppl can very well be starting the journey with you
Goku not liking carrots is pretty funny for any ball knowers
Lmaooo i like how ron says “this is not earth” when goku just said “i took them to the moon and will bring them back to EARTH”
Can’t wait for next Friday 👀
growing up i remember seeing a lot of interpretations of the craters on the moon looking like a rabbit pounding mochi. both in art and story telling. Kagura from Shippuden is also inspired from that sacred narrative.
You can tell Toriyama sometimes does chapters just so he can tell one joke at the end and this episode is like the first example of that which is why it has a filler feel to it. I'm 90% sure he was cracking up at the idea of the moon part and reverse engineered the rest to get to that joke.
Goku sentencing them to manual labor is insane. What did gohan teach this kid?
We back at it like a crack addict!
Dragon ball takes place on a fictional version of earth but its really only earth in name only
Toriyama wasn’t taking power scaling into consideration this early in the series. So don’t try to think too hard about kid Goku going to the moon lol also for further context, Dragonball was originally a gag manga so expect more whacky stuff before it becomes a true battle Shonen.
This is manga canon ya'll, toriyama was messing around. It does feel like a fun filler tho
Been a min since I read the manga but it was chapter 17 had to go back in look lol. Just another Toriyama doing Toriyama things where he forgets or retcons shit like always lol
these accents that were most likely done by a bunch of white men are hilarious
It’s funny that Goku went to the moon and nothing happen.
because its filler
I love the Dragon Ball universe. Its been about 14 years since i seen Dragon Ball its very nostalgic. Thanks
Bro they VAs had almost as much fun as the ghost stories dub VAs😂😂
I just realized bulma had NO obligation to leave the rabbit ears on, she left that shit by her free will🤣🤣
got to commit to the fit
Gotta love the iconic db sphere shaped houses lol
I always forget about this episode lol. It's arguably the craziest episode in the series. This show is so comfy 🤌🏻
Yeah but more crazier, this is the first ever filler episode for Dragonball 👌💯
