Been a minute since I watched this but every time I'm so impressed with the boxing detail Morikawa stays true to, even from the start, without over explaining everything. When Ippo takes his first KD he moves into the counter slightly and sees the punch, so takes less damage than he otherwise would've. Second time Miyata tries a counter, Ippo steps in and takes it on the forehead to land a devastating counter, something Miyata would've never expected and he gets badly hurt because of it.. From watching other sports anime I've seen how hard it is for writers to really stay true to the sport they're writing about, while trying to develop characters and the storyline, bruh Morikawa set a gold standard for it over 35 years ago

The lyrics of the opening song really makes the song hits much harder for me if you can I suggest turning on the subtitles and listening to it gives it a different feel

It’s only been 3 months since Ippo started boxing, but the anime already goes way beyond just boxing. It has every genre you can think of like comedy, drama, emotion, hype, life lessons, and it gets surprisingly deep. Also It’s definitely not too late for Michelle to start if she has time, I genuinely think she’d love it 😁
