Luffy is just Luffy, his moral code dictates his life, sometimes it plays against him, sometimes saves entire cultures and cities. He is dumb sometimes but thats what makes him diferent from all the others.

Dressrosa has an amazing story, if the arc was compressed into just fast paced episodes it’d receive a lot more love

It's fair to want Luffy to just mop Bellamy, but Luffy isn't the type of guy to hit someone who is hurting (or already defeated - like when Bellamy beat Luffy up the first time). Luffy respects that Bellamy has changed and doesn't want to fight him, while Bellamy no longer wants to live because he's failed so much in life and couldn't please Doflamingo. Bellamy wants Luffy to put him down. Luffy doesn't want to do that. Unfortunately the pacing is so bad for this part that it makes it hard to interpret what the emotional context for Bellamy actually is :( I'ma be straight up with you guys, you are going to love the next arc. Dressrosa is always a rough point for reactions. The STORY is really good but it has some weak moments in the anime FOR SURE.

The anime extends the luffy bellamy thing waaaay too long. If it feels off its because the pacing is atrocious.

Felt so bad for Baby 5. Her backstory was short and to the point but was still so sad. I love how Oda does this with side characters who you wouldn't even expect a backstory from them

Zoro's not fast enough to defeat Pica when he can transfer in and out. But yeah Luffy can mop Bellamy in an instant, all the while Law is getting belt to ahh. I honestly forgot how long these fights were

Typically, if you don’t see someone using Haki when you think they should, it’s because they haven’t learned it or aren’t that good at it.

This arc is damn near the whole length of Bleach.

The reason why it feels like the characters are playing around is because of the horrible pacing. It cuts back and fourth constantly without really progressing the fights, so it just takes forever

It's kinda not on Zoro tbh. Thanks to his powers Pica can basically never lose because he's always guarding his real physical form within the entire land of Dressrosa. There's a ton of ground on this island so Pica has limitless chances to escape and hide from Zoro. As long as Pica still has all these ways to avoid damage, Zoro can't make any solid progress in this fight. So while he is playing it very smart it's actually Pica who's at fault for this prolonged stalemate.

The pacing is diabolical! The story is so good but the pacing keeps actively taking away from the greatness

Jesus I had forgotten about the pacing of this arc, beautiful arc but I swear there's episodes that are la 5 minutes of cool stuff followed by 15 minutes of absolutely nothing

also yes you're correct in terms of invisioning what the DB fights will be like, that specific Lao G vs Sai scene was animated by Naotoshi a veteran animator at Toei who has a lot of work in Dragon Ball so you will recognise his style fs if you look for it

Zoro ain't playing around; he just can't isolate Pica to deal damage directly. Pica can essentially teleport in any kind of rock or earth substance he touches.

zoro cant catch pica because every time he gets him pica moves to another rock. and luffy situation and overall dress rose is ruined by toei studio. Baby 5 and Sai episode is awesome though. there are masterpiece episodes in this arc and doing nothing for 20 minutes episode
