So, the reason that Shunsui doesn't just spam his bankai is because anyone in the immediate vicinity will get caught up in his bankai, friend or enemy. That's why he said that it's good everyone is far away enough. He also apologized if Nanao (his lieutenant) gets caught up in it since she was on his way back to him. This is the reason that he was reluctant to use it against the primera espada, Stark (well, more accurately, Ukitake warned him not to use it). With a lot of bankai, they seem to be detrimental to anyone in the vicinity. Particularly Yammamoto, Shunsui, and Shinji's bankai. You get caught up in any of these 3 bankai, and you're pretty much finished. The humanization of Mayuri's character by looking into the life of Nemu is very well done, and, without it, Mayuri wouldn't be my 2nd favorite character in Bleach, but it did happen lol. Mayuri, like a lot of men (myself included), have trouble saying and displaying what they actually mean (well, I guess that's just a very human problem in general). His inner thoughts show someone who is much more human and vulnerable than what he shows to the world. Him taking Nemu's brain back from Pernida shows that he really did care for her, although, if you asked him, he'd probably say that it was more efficient that way, which, it is, but that's not the real reason he did it lol. It's also crazy that he used Nemu to basically induce super cancer to kill Pernida š¬ More crazy stuff incoming
ah, i miss my cousin tsukishima. i remember that time when he introduced me to your channel. i was so proud of his editing skills for your videos and now im hooked lol
This is possibly one of my favorite fights in anime.
Muahaha isnāt all powerful. Looks like it but member when Aizen warp time in their first meeting and Muahaha didnāt see or expected it
Papa Mayuri šš
You kinda missed the part that was "planted" inside Nemu. In the flashback, the other scientist explained that Nemuri #6 died at 2 years of age because her cells reached their maximum times of multiplying. Nemuri #7 had this additional artificial organ that forced an infinite multiplication, to bypass this limit, and then an edited brain part that kept it in check, so that she didn't end up like Pernida. This is why he snatched the brain back, so that Pernida would only eat the infinite multiplication organ, and since he kept evolving from whatever it touched, it involved into fast-forward cancer, basically. The fact that all this crossed his mind mid fight, and decided to let her get eaten to win... chef's kiss!
By the way, I told you guys the only filler are you guys should really consider watching and bleach is when this sword become humanoid
Best way to describe Shunshis sword is that his Shikai is Childrens Games and his Bankai are Adult games.
This changes everything
At least Mayuri likes them "plots" big. As she is his creation after all :D
Bleach is better than Naruto period. The power of misplaced friendship doesn't trump the power of catch this hot blade to the face.
I looove this episodes!!! ššāāļø Sunshui's Bankai is so cool and creative!!! I love his personality, he's one of my favorites, but they're all so cool that it'sdifficultto choose, love them all š¤£š¤£š¤£... I think the change of colors of the environment is just for US to notice somethingis happening, otherwise we'll be confused, like... "ok, nothing is happening !?" 𤣠it just shows the extent of the area his bankai reaches... š
We did see a clue to Lille Barro's true powers during his battle with Squad 0. As he was battling Nimaiya, there was a moment when Nimaiya said that his blade pierced through Lille without hurting him. That was a hint at his intangibility. Lille's VollstƤndig is supposed to represent Seraphim angels like in the Bible. And just like the Bible says, how people are rooted to a spot when they spot angels for the first time, Shunsui was also unable to move, which gave Lille a window to strike. As Michelle said, Shunsui's Bankai is theatre-play-based, so in theory, he should be able to use different plays based on the situation, just like he used different children's games during Shikai. As for this specific theatre play, it is an AOE-based Bankai where everyone gets affected by the conditions set during the play. Meaning, as long as Shunsui does not meet the condition that he set for Lille, he would not be affected. That's why, when Shunsui was able to release his Bankai against Starrk in the Arrancar arc, Ukitake stopped him from using it, as it would affect multiple allies if they mistakenly met the conditions. Mayuri-Nemu is definitely a father-daughter relationship, but a complicated one at that. Mayuri letting Nemu act on her own is a way of showing how fathers need to let their daughters shine on their own by stepping out of their shadow for them to grow. Mayuri conjuring up Szayel in his head to cope with the loss of Nemu is just perfect. And how it ties back to his philosophy and how he betrayed it is too good. Mayuri did not create that organ, preparing for a case where Nemu gets consumed. One of the themes behind the fight was how he chose not to see that outcome as he grew protective of Nemu. That's what the conjured-up Szayel was trying to portray. So we were told in the Nemu flashback that Artificial Soul Reapers have a limit to their cell growth, which is about three years. So Mayuri invented a way to surpass that limit by using an artificial cell growth tool regulated by the cerebrum, which is what he used to create Nemu. So when Pernida consumed Nemu without the cerebrum, the artificial cell growth tool kept on growing unregulated, which is basically cancer. And Pernida has been surviving all this time by evolving out of every possible situation, but you can't evolve out of cancer, as it would also evolve. Our Nemu is gone-gone. It would not make sense for Mayuri to go back to his old self by using our Nemu's brain as the base for the next iteration, as it goes against his ideology.
Bodhidarma falls down is basically Red light, green light
What is crazy is shunsei has always been this strong since the first time you saw him. Some characters like byakuya and toshiro got stronger when we first saw them. Not shunsei, he hasn't trained in a long time. Also remember when he fought stark. Kinda shows you how strong stark was since he was fighting shunsei and the long white hair captain too at the same time for a bit.
Iāll say it again: Ma. Yu. Ri. My. GOAT.
I cant wait until they finally upload the Demon Slayer movie to crunchyroll so you guys can react to it. I'm dying to see everyones reaction to that movie
shunsui vs lile theme is easily my favorite. god what a great episode.
Mayuri Mvp !!! š„
bankai for the first time is just so hype
Shunsui's Bankai is definitely one of the strongest. The reason he hasn't used it before this is actually because it's so strong that anyone within the range would suffer consequences as well. Basically friendly fire gets turned on, same with Yamamoto's or Shinji's Bankai!
i also think bleach being on Hulu also has affected it and will affect its numbers compared to if it was on crunchyroll or other platforms people have more often than hulu
You guys had me pounding my chest like Tarzan in excitement for this episode š„š„
Shunsui's shikai is based on children's games and his bankai is based on theatre plays for adults. We know this because the play shunsui is telling is a suicide story of a couple, a man and a woman. Lillie Barro is the man, Shunsui is the woman. In Act 1: because the man hit the woman, he feels great shame as if the wounds he inflicted he can also feel them (and it becomes real damage). Act 2: the man starts feeling even worse for what he did and develops a sickness because of this great shame. Act 3: as a way to atone the man drops into a endless ocean hoping to drown and the woman also drowns with him because she pities him. However, the man becomes a coward, starting to swim up to the surface abandoning his promise to drown along with the woman. Act 4: As a result of all this, the woman wanting to get rid of the man's regret and cowardness, cuts his throat and then she drowns, as if the promise they made was never broken.
Greatest anime yes you spoke facts Ron. Top 3 and it aint 3 or 2 its number 1 simple. Dw Ron it'll be your number 1 along with Naruto. Shunsui held back in og Bleach he didnt go all out so people wouldn't get in it. Same case with Yamamoto while they was all fighting the arrancars
There's so much to unpack in these 2 episodes, but I have decided to skip all that just to remind you two again that you got Burn The Witch and Bleach movie 1 as additional content to fill in the gap while waiting for cour 4 !!! I personally would love to see you guys watch that.
The diversity of Bankai is kinda ridiculous. Soifon gets a rocket launcher (which is terrible for her) but Shunsui gets one that makes up its own reality based on the "play" he performs.
JJK's popularity also largely stimmed from the fact that it came out right in the middle of covid when everyone is stuck home. That's why the other seasons didn't come anywhere near as close. It was perfect timing for it since everyone was stuck home.
Mayuri basically gave the hand cancer
is it me or does the mic sound a bit muffled since you came back
You guys should check out burn the witch on the downtime, by Tite Kubo aswell only like 4 episodes
These two episodes were soooo peak.
If it makes it easier to understand shinsuis banka basically is a domain expansion with a full aoe that targets everybody in range regardless of friend or foe. (Like how sukuna did in shinjuku) his bankai is like a play (good catch). We don't know if he has more plays he can use in bankai, id like to think he could Also the thing in Nemu wasnt poison or anything its quite literally what makes Nemu able to exist and grow and if you dont have both the part pernida are and the brain regulating each other it basically gives super cancer. Causing infinite cell multiplication leading to death. Super hyped for next drop too. Also I hope during the downtime between cour 3 and 4 you guys watch some of the movies. Could be fun to kill time but keep bleach active
Very interesting eposodes, first time watching them.
Welcome back! š§” Not Mayuri being so proud of himself for creating an artificial soul and surpassing Urahara, only for Urahara to have already done it years ago with Jinta and Ururu (the two kids living with him) š
Lille Barro looks like a "biblically accurate angel" a lot of people didn't like it but they weren't really supposed to in that way.. Also Shunsui's shikai is children's games and his bankai is an adult play
Best episode so far, this was so hype. Shunsui's bankai is fire af and I like how it has different acts. He always fighting someone with guns lmao. First ofc Starrk (number 1 Espada) then the Sternritter Robert in season 1 of TYBW and now Lille Barro (X). Also love how we see Kyoraku's sword spirit Ohana. This was why some of us wanted you guys to watch Zanpakuto Rebellion arc, it shows everyone's Zanpakuto spirits (Ohana is in the ofc) and you get to see their designs. It's a filler arc but worth it. Plus Michelle is curious on what they all look like. Or maybe the mods can create a diagram of how each character's Zanpakuto looks and save it for the next Bleach discussion
Glad to have you both back!
Did ron just finish at 17:05?? ššš
In short Mayuri gave Pernida cancer š Also Michelle, I don't think Mayuri knew that Nemu was gonna get eaten. That was just the way she was created for her to evolve/grow basically with her brains being the one preventing her body from imploding like what happened to Pernida
Mayuri knew it was possible.
Love your reactions guys š„ I want to remind you guys of all the awesome things that TYBW arc of Bleach has showed us; Sasakibe's (Yamamoto's lieutenant) bankai, his back story with Yamamoto, and his death, Yamamoto's Bankai and death, Previews of the war a 1000 years ago, Unohana has the first Kenpachi, her back story with Zaraki, Shinji's Bankai, Komamura's (the dog captain) sacrifice and secret of his clan, Renji's new bankai reveal, Rukia's Bankai and As Nodt's awesome VA, Zaraki's shikai and his fight with Gremmy, Ichigo saving Zaraki and fighting Bambi squad, Ishida's betrayal, Yhwach's Almighty, Aizen's release, Ishida Vs Renji (round 2), and now, Mayuri and Nemu vs Pernida.
And Shunsui's bankai š„
W episodes, and W reaction to said episodes
Ngl, Nemu death scene was rough with the music. Teared up a lil bit.
Shunsui always fighting bad guys that only using guns šš
There is a Filler Arc in bleach called the Zanpakuto Rebellion Arc. This Arc was made after Toshiro beat Hanibel āthe first timeā, it shows all the swords in human form. The episodes are from 230-265, maybe think about it when deciding what to do for this month gap before cour 4 starts up
The first game is the East Asian version of Red Light, Green Light.
[Tidbits Ep.36] - The funny part about Mayuri bragging that he created an artificial soul that evolved of its own accord before Urahara is that heās dead wrong. Weāve seen a character go into that robotic-like crazed state before, all the way back when Grimmjow attacked with his fracciones. There Ururu did something similar to what Nemu does here and thatās because both Ururu and Jinta are artificial souls, which we learn from Kubo in Kluboutside QnA #135. - āControlā and āfree willā are major themes here, fitting ones when dealing with āScienceā and āProgressā (Even more so when talking about the Left Hand and Nemu whoāve been used, and controlled by others) Mayuri throughout this battle is leaping into the thralls of evolution, but as we see evolution is dangerous and should be approached carefully. Mayuri is clearly a character who is always in control, he prepares several times over, but as mentioned by Nemu he forgets things before coming to this battle, but how do you even prepare for combat with something that embodies evolution? Iād argue the answer is also to evolve (as shown by Nemu and Pernida) and a major point of this battle is to show the slight yet poignant character progression of Mayuri, which is why they make it a point to show that other shinigami are thankful to him. - Mayuri is weird because morally speaking heās completely insane, his sense of ethics is completely different from ours but in his own crazy way, itās obvious that he did in fact love Nemu in his own twisted way, so much so that since heās made her he feels heās living in a Dream, Nemu was perfect to him and once she died he was made to wake up from this Dream. And at the end when he reclaims her cerebrum we see him re-enter his Dream-like state, deep within the oceans of progress, where he happily sinks. (The idea the he cherished her evolution over his own life is proof of his own pseudo means of being a parent) - We learn here that Mayuri used the fetuses from his artificial soul research to reach the Bankai state, which gives clarity as to why his Bankai takes on the visage of a baby. - The after-credit scene is completely new, weāve never seen soldiers seemingly possessed by Yhwachās power. - Sidenote: Mayuri vs Pernida is a cool shonen take on Science vs Divinity [Reposted before watching]
Iām always tempted to characterize mayuri as an insane, heartless personification of evil with no right to live. Even after watching this episode, I find him unforgivable. But your breakdown of his character made me kinda willing to understand him more. especially the bit about him cherishing her life over his being a pseudo means of being a parent. I think a lot would be salvaged towards his complexity and character development if it wasnāt revealed that he had been sleeping with her early on. I think that was a cheap bit that devalued a LOT of work that was done with his character.
[Tidbits Ep.35][Lotta Reading] - The Game Shunsui is playing at the start called āDaruma-san ga Korondaā is basically red-light green-light - Lille Barroās ability of āIntangibilityā was hinted at when he fought Oetsu, If you recall Oetsu at one point attempted to slash him yet the blade went through. [As an aside, the battle between the 0 Squad and the Schutzstaffel gave at least 1 hint at each member's ability, so for those interested you can go back and watch that battle and see how they did it] - Many fans have mixed feelings on Lilleās Volstanding look, however, I think itās very fitting when you understand what Kubo is going for. Quincy obviously have biblical influence, Lille upon his transformation gains 4 pairs of wings, meaning in regards to the bible heād be a Seraphim (Angels with 8 Wings) [Seraphim angels are primarily responsible for constantly praising and worshipping God, specifically by repeatedly proclaiming "Holy, Holy, Holy" while circling around the throne of God, signifying their intense devotion to God's holiness; their main function is to glorify God through their unceasing worship and remind others of God's sacred nature.] - We finally see why Shunsui couldnāt use his Bankai when he fought Starrk. Those within the area would have been pulled into it and it would have killed several of his allies. I feel itās a very fitting Bankai in that it somewhat mimics the dangerous aspects of Yamaās who also couldnāt use his Bankai however he pleased. (Some lines are removed that better express what Shunsui Bankai feels like, it seemingly instills negative emotions conjuring a sense of darkness, dread, and despair. Itās chilling and makes even the most stubborn characters uncomfortable) - Shunsuiās Bankai is a Play (A Kabuki Play to be specific) with the opponent being a performer and itās composed of 3 Acts. A play canāt go on without its performer, therein if the enemy dies during an act, the Bankai will of course end immediately (fans likely questioned this because the title of the chapter covering his Bankai was labeled āThe Theatre Suicideā) There is a lot of context revolving around the Play that Shunsuiās Bankai evokes but it would make this comment too long so I opted to cut it. - Anime fans who watched the Zanpaktou Rebellion Filler actually got the opportunity to see Shunsuiās Zanpaktou Spirit a long time ago, but itās good to see it in canon. - Shunsui's personality often switches swiftly between playful to serious. I believe his Shikai and Bankai represent this well. His Shikai forces people to āPlayā children's games, while his Bankai forces you to take part in a Kabuki āPlayā. (I feel Shunsui as a character somewhat embodies this, human life is a play, a play in which we are often forced to act, forced to face conflicts no matter what we wish. Weād love to have life be more relaxed and unserious like games, but we know that when the games are done we have to return to reality.) - Sidenote: Nanao being able to keep up with Shunsuiās Shunpo without getting tired is a nod to the Soul Society arc when the opposite occurred. - Sidenote 2: Just a reminder cause Iāve seen some confused comments in other reactions, but Shunsui can in fact (albeit not intentionally) enact several games at once during Shikai - Sidenote 3: Reikaku are the senses used to detect Reiatsu - Sidenote 4: Kabuki plays are about historical events and moral conflict in relationships of the heart. [Reposted before watching]
What I love about Shunsui's abilities is how his Shikai is childrens games while his bankai is aduly plays. Such a great and interesting character!
Bleach has like 4 animated movies which are cannon and 1 live action netflix adaptation, u guys can watch those during the downtime.
Do not watch any of the trailers they have massive spoilers
Shunsuis Bankai turns a 4 act stage play into reality
Maturity really laced pernida with cancer
Gotta watch that zanpakto arc to see everyoneās
Just here to shed tears for Nemu for the thousandth time. Also, killing someone with super cancer is one of the most unhinged ways I've seen someone kill another in anime lol
I dont think it was planned lol. Feels like it just helps with her regeneration.
Lille form is supposed to be that of a biblical accurate angel. Angels you read about arenāt beautiful human like creatures with wings lol. Thatās why he talks like everyone is beneath him he view himself as the closest to God.
A lot of fans argue back and forth just how OP Shunsui's bankai is. After Bleach you guys should definitely do a livestream of ranking the bankai/schrifts. Outside of the anime with omnipotent-type powers, Bleach has some of the stronger abilities within its power-ups.
Shunsuiās bankai affects everyone in the area. If youāre in the immediate area, youāre forced to participate in the play. If youāre a little further out then you can just witness it as an audience of the play and still feel the gloomy vibe of it. Mayuri believes he surpassed Urahara but Nemu is essentially the same type of being as the two kids at Uraharaās shop. Mayuri doesnāt know of them though.
Why is shunsui always fighting gun ennemies š
Michelle there actually is a filler arc which showed most of the Zanpakuto spirits for a lot of the characters. Wouldn't recommend watching unless you really want to but yeah you can just search up whatever character you want's Zanpakuto spirit to see what they look like as we only get to see a few in the canon story for Bleach.
Correction: Tsukishima doesn't change memories he changes the past itself and the memory thing is just a byproduct. A lot of the times the distinction doesn't make a difference but it is important to know the difference
No matter how many times we correct them itās like they donāt want to believe itā¦.
Mayuri is definitely loving of Nemu paternally. These were the biggest displays of emotion from him all series, but he is who he is. He also didnāt seem to want nemu to get eaten at all dispite knowing her ability!
If Michelle's theory about tsukishima changing Uryu's memory to infiltrate turns out to be true, then it'll bump up the show's rating for me personally because that would be a perfect callback
Ron when you getting Kenpachi's Zanpakuto tatted on you... or you could go subtle and do the Squad 11 logo... just some ideas...
Shunsuiās Bankai is basically a domain expansion. The reason he never used it before and with this fight he tried to get far away is because if youāre in range of his spiritual pressure you basically get affected by his Bankai. Itās not safe to use around others except your enemy. The Left Arm basically died to cancer.
I think no one knows how Yhwach power except for Jugram (Right Hand man of Yhwach) so I don't think Uryu would know what the All Mighty does
Shunsuiās bankai is a stage play, thatās why the area affected looks that way. It goes in 4 acts that each move the play along to reach the ending of the depressing story. Act 1: this is shared wounds. whatever damage Shunsui has taken it goes on the opponent Act 2: this is the aftermath and the overwhelming guilt. They are weakened and filled with an illness suffered from this guilt Act 3: this is pretty much the aftermath of the guilt and depiction of attempted suicide. They are thrown into a deep ocean draining eachother of spiritual energy, whoever runs out first is in a worse spot. Act 4 (the final act): this is the end and represents their fate and the severing of life, the resolution of the story. Shunsui takes the white thread and delivers the final blow to end the story depicting a lovers quarrel/ doomed lovers suicide drama.
^ Ball knower
Lille is my second favorite sternritter. Also every enemy that has used a gun has fought Shunsui lol.
yall gotta react to the zanpakuto rebellion filler arc. it shows all the zapakuto's forms. really fun filler
Shunsui's bankai is pretty much a guranteed kill in most cases however it catches an area rather than a specific area so anyone in that area will die to the final act.
My favourite bankai for sure, Shinsui be getting freaky with his zanpakuto bruh, also Lille Barros form is meant to replicate a Biblically accurate angel
One piece bro we missed like 2 weeeks im feinin can we get a one piece month or 3
The ending shouldn't make a series. Whatever your current list is is probably your list.
Just when you think Mayuri is a changed man he snaps right back to who he was lol. I also was hoping to see some crazy switch from Mayuri here. Like to see him stop fighting logically and let loose based on emotion would've been sick cuz it's so out character for him.
the background score in the haschwalth v bazz b episode is goated
Finally, the best episodes in all of bleach
That cell division thing wasn't a trap, I think you misunderstood. That's how he was able to get her to grow past the stage Nemu No. 6 got to. Without her brain to regulate it, that's what happens.
their is an arc that introduces everyones bankai in physical form. you should def go back and watch it. i liked it alot
I think there is actually 1 counter to end Shunsui Bankai. Act 1 does not stop damage, its shares them and reduces dmg he takes I think. So realistically if you one shot or annihlate him during the bankai, then the bankai ends. But the problem is Shunsui is strong enough to tank damage/sword slash from most people which I think includes Kenpachi. Unless im underestimating him So for Yhwach, Yamamoto, Ichigo, Aizen, Ichibe, I think they could just one shot Shunsui out of his bankai state. Yhwach has Soul King, Yamamoto can burn him to death, Ichigo can prob Getsuga tensho, Aizen has Kuroshitiki, Ichibe just throws his ink or change his name
I think Aizen and Ichigo would just outlast him in act 3 with their higher spiritual pressure, as it slowly drains both combatants spiritual pressure until one is exhausted.
There's literally a filler arc where people's bankai comes to life in human form yall should check out one day
šš»
Shunsui bankai is my favorite in all of Bleach. It's so complex and unique. It's basically a play about betrayal and suicide causing death to anyone Shunsui brings into the bankai or possibly himself if the other person is stronger. Im sure someone has a better in depth explanation of it too, but that's my understanding
Mayuri is Mr.Clutchš¤
I haven't watched Naruto with them, but did they enjoy the ending? From what ron said, it sounds like it, pretty shocking for me considering how controversial Madara's defeat and Kaguya was.
They liked it. I remember Ron mentioning he liked the alien part but I also remember them mentioning a gripe or two that they had. Overall they liked it
DUDE IVE BEEN REFRESHING FOR OVER A WEEK (yes i know you were on break but GOSH these TYBW reactions are hella addicting š¤£š¤£šš„
Touch grass bro.
Yokoso
no soul society
idk about that intro song lol. Episode 38 is top 3 favorite episodes for me in the WHOLE arc. I cant wait for this upcoming reaction
Finally peak š®āšØš®āšØš®āšØ
Hearing a character say bankai for the first time is just so hype
