Don't worry, you were not supposed to "recognize" Koala, her name card litterally pop up on screen to tell us everything we need to know. But subtitles messed up big time and you could'nt read her name. You really should find another version to watch though, most of the name cards don't even get translated during those episodes, that sucks. You'll definitly miss on other characters :(

I felt very frustrated with Usopp for those exact same reasons coz it felt like a regression until I came across some video explaining his character development which made me realize that the moments he musters up courage is when he's pushed to the brink or when Sogeking shows up, which I hadn't considered before. So I think it's probably how most of us felt watching his progression for the first time.

About the Koala thing I more so blame the subtitles that popped up when she showed up. Literally was there for half a second. I don't blame y'all whatsoevevr. I don't even think I caught that that was Koala on my first watch as well as many other people I'm sure. It took me a second time watching to realize. About Usopp, I absolutely agree with you Ron. I don't like Usopp at all lol. I get it, you have these expectations for him especially after the time skip. I did like Usopp in Water 7/Enies Lobby. Had some interesting and big moments with his character like him wanting to keep the Merry and him and Luffy being at odds. I loved him in the live action, they did him justice. But after Enies Lobby it went back to me not liking him. I'm speaking in terms up to the episode y'all are on. Let's see what the future holds for y'all with Usopp

That’s cold Ron the One Piece manga, and manga in general, is a whole different kettle of fish. You’re experiencing the story how Eiichiro Oda intended, without the padding, censorship and includes little side stories each chapter. And being a Usopp fan isn’t for the weak. He does go back and forth, and that used to annoy me too, but his dream isn’t as grand as the others. His goal is literally to become a brave warrior of the sea like Luffy, Zoro and Sanji, so it makes sense his growth isn’t linear. He’ll probably keep wavering until near the end, when that bravery fully sticks

Diamante is one of those characters who's never explicitly stated to be inspired by a real person, but is *definitely* inspired by a real person. Yes, there's Steven Tyler, but I also think he's taking some visual inspiration from Mick Jagger.

Usopp is arguably the most relatable and human character in the series cause he's just like us. He has always been timid by nature, carefully weighing his odds before every fight, and honestly, who could blame him right? 😅 When you're up against someone like Doflamingo, a Warlord of the Sea, a ruthless underground arms dealer, and an ally of Kaido, one of the Four Emperors. Your chances of winning are practically zero. Freaking out is not just valid, it's the only logical response. Of course, not everyone is the same. They're going up against the Doflamingo family, many of whom have Devil Fruit powers. Being weak and timid isn't always a flaw, because when the truly critical moments arrive, Usopp's brave alter ego, Sogeking, always shows up just in time to save the day like in Enies Lobby. 😂

Regarding usopp i also had the exact same thoughts wdym you had 2 years training arc and still scared but after a discussion with my irl friend we came to the conclusion that what finding one piece to luffy becoming the best swordsmen itw to zoro the equivvalent to usopp would be at the end of the show be a brave warrior of the sea thats our guess

Reading the manga is such a different journey compared to the anime especially censorship and would amazing if you can update us on your manga journey here or on insta 🔥. Ron also starting his theory and prediction arc is also goated will defintley have you wishing you were here in the early days 💯. Lastly Ussop i would say after this arc becomes very unbearable there are also allot of things that ussop says later on that really questions Odas writing especially for him and others 😑😑

Usopp became the character in the show I least like. Between his behavior and his skin tone getting lighter by the minute. People might be upset when I say this, but I really don’t need this character in this show at all. I think Oda actually dropped the ball the entire time post timeskip. He has good jokes but just being a gag character and being the only black person on the crew… I can do without a token. Hopefully Oda does better. This is simply my own opinion btw

I agree with you Ron (regardless of what these Hindsight Merchants may say is to come for Ussop), this cowardice from him is a bit too much. Yes, we all know what Ussop is, but acting like this post- time skip was a backward step and not really that necessary in my opinion. Ussop was in my Top 3 favorite strawhats pre-time skip, he's probably one of my least favorite now

Franky's pretty strong but not above Sanji and Zoro. He's around Robin and Brook's level I would say. Those 3 are kinda in the middle of the crew in regards to strength and fighting ability.

You're beginning to see why One Piece is in dire need of a remake. An adaptation should always aim to elevate and surpass the source material, not make it drag. Even with how it is today, while the current anime has improved considerably in several areas, it still doesn't quite reach the full potential of what it could be mainly due to continued pacing issues and a lack of consistent quality. The upcoming WIT remake could be a real game changer if it turns out good. If it ever gets as far as Dressrosa it'll be a goddamn miracle. Fingers crossed 👀

Agreed. I think this is the arc that pushed Usopp the hardest and reminded me that he's just a normal man who's trying to survive in a world full of "monsters". It's subjective, but Oda never disappoints. :D

For Usopp and Nami, I consider their perspectives similar to the marine's perspective in the Fan Letter video. Essentially watching and fighting against superheroes/supervillains from DC comics. Also, Usopp has always been a coward when facing against a tough challenge, I think he showed a lot of bravery recently before Dressrosa because he was dealing with the impostor Straw Hats and Baby 5 flying away Btw, glad we're getting 3 days of One Peak again!

He is the closest being to us as One Piece watcher in the world where most people are monster, human is less significance..U gotta plant in your head Usopp is aways gonna be scaredy cat and a wuss most of the time,he always choose safe than danger. I feel you on the Usopp situation. His fear is especially exaggerated at the moment. Everything has a reason though so I would suggest keep watching. It does feel annoying though. But at the same time his character is one of the weaker characters in the show at this point and the villains are getting more and more overpowered as arcs go on.

Ron, Usopp always been a coward, and the one to take the lesser route, and just because he has leveld up doesn't mean his root core will change maybe improve but change completely no and it wouldn't be fun to watch Usopp if he was just like Luffy, Zoro, and the like, but when it counts he comes through and that's the point. Also try not to so much have expectations, just watch it as it comes.

We already know how Sabo ended up with the revolutionaries. He was rescued by Dragon when the explosion happened. I remember Ron pointed it out too when it originally happened. He predicted Sabo was rescued by the revolutionaries.

please never feel pressured to know everything or identify everything on your first go of one piece, i think the joy and love of this story is that it is retrospectively self improving specially the more you know what to look for within the story and also from our real world references. I bet there are people who claim they know a lot, still dont know a gazillion more things that they should know just because the story of one piece is so vast, and some of the details are so obscurely presented. Trust me when i say, when you catch up and re read the story, you will see a different story, so enjoy your journey for what it is and what it transforms into as you learn more things. have fun 😇

I don't think anyone expected you to recognize Koala from her looks. Usually people have a chance to connect the dots because her name is written on the screen when she appears in Dressrosa, but in your case subtitles with her name and title appeared for 0.1 seconds so it wasn't possible to catch that

LOL. That’s Koala. Seriously when I watch Onepiece, I, like may fans, forgot about her and dozens of other characters. Of course we learn more about her as the anime progressed, but you know, one of the thing I like is that there is so many characters and secrets in Onepiece is that when you rewatch it over and over, you discover something you overlook. And I dig that discovery.

Ron, I completely agree with your view on Usopp. I think Michelle’s explanation is also very good, but even if it makes sense, I still hope he doesn’t regress. However, Ron, I disagree with your opinion that Franky is the third strongest in the Straw Hat Pirates. Without a doubt, it should be Sanji. And if you take Robin’s unique dick grappling technique into account, I don’t even think Franky can defeat her. Moreover, when Chopper transforms into his monster form, I think he is much stronger than Franky.
