Momiji backstory was so brutal. Even through all the hardships with his mom's memory being wiped, he still finding the bright side just like Torhu. Also when he transformed into the bunny it looked like he was crying or tearing up which is even more sad. But I could be wrong maybe he wasn't crying, was hard to tell. He at least looked sad. Michelle asking if the little sister knows who Momiji is because she kept looking at him, well I noticed she kept looking at Torhu which was interesting but maybe it was just her looking lol its my first time watching so

Momiji really is the most emotional intelligent character of this show. Not many kids would accept what he had to deal with and handle it in such a mature way.

Tohru one of the best main characters imo she written so well also don’t forget not everybody in the family knows about the spirits.

This episode was SO sad, idk how you kept it together 😭😭😭 and yeah tohru is just so positive, drinking and appreciating her tea after a long day, it’s these little things in life. Just 5 more days till the next episode..😥

I just wanted to hug Momiji so badly when I read about everything he did and endured for his mother. T-T And this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their backstories, the curse, and the lore of Furuba. There’s so much more to come. As you might remember, only a small group within the Sohma family knows about the Zodiac curse. The rest are kept in the dark, which is why there’s a distinction between the main estate where the Zodiac members and their immediate families live, and the outer residences for those who don’t know about the curse. When a Sohma and their spouse have a child who is part of the Zodiac, the truth is revealed to them, and they’re then required to stay at the main house. Yuki(rat) and Shigure(dog) is living outside the main estate because they got special permission from Akito to leave outside but still on Sohma property. The monkey Zodiac's mother, the Ryokan sick landlady(also Sohma property), also got special permission because she is sickly. So Momiji’s father, being a Sohma, likely didn’t know about the curse beforehand either. That means it must have been an overwhelming shock for both parents especially for Momiji’s mother, who witnessed her newborn child transform into an animal. On top of that, postpartum depression may have deeply affected her after learning such a devastating truth. We can only imagine what she was going through mentally. In that light, it was probably an incredibly difficult decision for Momiji’s father to choose to erase his wife’s memories and even harder to ask young Momiji for permission and seek his understanding so that Momiji's mother could be released from that pain before going through with it. T-T Oh and the new opening song has a few new characters. So if you don't want to see them yet before meeting them in the show then I would suggest maybe just letting it play and listening to the song without looking at the visuals.

About OP/ED: - OP2 introduces 4 more characters (3 you can see their faces) but no zodiac reveal (if you are perceptive, you may figure one tho) - ED2 is one of the most beautiful endings with no spoiler. The song has been sitting in my playlist for years * Season 2: - OP1: two new characters added and a zodiac reveal. Ep 9 is when you should watch the OP - ED1: one new character added with a zodiac reveal. Ep 9 too - OP2 and ED2: spoiler-free, enjoy them (ED2 is my personal favorite😆) * Final Season - OP: for surprise element, you should watch from EP6. - ED: from ep 6 if you want, but it also spoils everyone’s ending, so maybe wait until the final ep😂the visuals change a bit at the beginning from ep 12 to ep 13 tho * About this ep - Momiji has got to be one of the most beautifully and devastatingly written characters. The more you get to know him later on, the more it hurts😭And yet, besides Tohru, he’s one of the most positive and happy-go-lucky characters. It’s said that the saddest people smile the brightest and I think it applies perfectly to him. There’s just something so heartbreaking about how much he carries, yet still chooses to be smiley, warm, and full of light. - Kyoko’s backstory: some snippets will be revealed soon when we get the besties’ backstory, but her past is fully told in the prelude movie that you might want to check out after finishing the series PS: the homeroom teacher that has been shown here and there (the one who informs Tohru about the tuition fee and her mom’s accident) is actually a supporting character. Many people can’t recall who she is later on when she’s got her focus episode

Definitely one of my favorite episodes of this show! Glad you enjoyed it and is loving the Fruits Basket journey so far! There is so much more to come!
