There’s a bit of context I think that is missing from why Jojo doesn’t quite have the same popularity of a OP or a Naruto. If you look at marketing, manga and anime as a whole starting getting more popular in the west in the early to mid 2000s. Those extremely popular anime were fortunate to have debuted in shonen jump in the late 90s and transitioned to Toonami or online sites as they were fresh in discourse. Jojo itself wasn’t even extremely popular as each part was in serialization in the 80s, 90s, etc., and was doing enough to stay comfortably in the magazine. Demon Slayer and JJK got to ride in the momentum of Naruto and such because they came out as anime became even more popular. Another tidbit of info is that when manga printing in the U.S. through viz media, Yen Press, Shojo beat or whatever, Jojo did not get favorable marketing on its release, only part 3 came out in English in the mid 2000s and only until the 2010s did the entirety of the series get a full English manga release. The release of the anime and subsequent more printing of more parts of the manga along with the meme and pop culture craze Jojo cultivated is what propelled its popularity. Also Jojo overall is probably bigger than Bleach, I’d say it’s around the top 10 or slightly higher mark as of now in terms of popularity. The part 7 anime is going to potentially send Jojo into the stratosphere because of how good it is.

Guys, don't forget that IGGY... a DOG had a stand... PET SHOP... a BIRD had a stand... It's not too far fetched to say that a PLANKTON can manifest a stand too. Anything that is 'alive' as long as it has the worthiness to manifest a stand could theoretically do so. Also Michelle don't think that there's a crazy amount of stands out there cause of this possibility, I'm sure it's much rarer for an animal or organism to have a stand as opposed to a human but then again that's just my own idea on the show.

JoJos also gets an insane amount of collabs with designer brands like Gucci and Balenciaga. They also had a collab with Mercedes. The CRAZIEST thing about JoJos is that there is an art piece from the creator, Hirohiko Araki, in the Louvre Museum in Paris. The same place where the MONA LISA is kept.

You guys are somewhat right about Jojos. It has a massive cult like following but it doesnt get much buzz from newer/more casual fans. But you probably notice how loud the fandom gets every time a new part is airing (like rn lol)

i know you read the Kiss stand description but wanted to add a bit more commentary since Ron mentioned it seems pretty inconsistent. As you know, the duplication destruction is part of Ermes's stand ability - when the sticker is removed, the duplicate item merges back but it causes a sort of destruction effect. that's why her arm was hurt, why the belt broke when mcqueen was hanging himself (she duplicated the belt and then removed the sticker so the belt broke), why the duplicated dried up corpse exploded into dust when the sticker was removed, etc the reason why her arm was hurt but FF's arm was destroyed is ermes has muscle and bones and whatnot. it's stronger/more sturdy than a bunch of clumped up small plankton that are invertebrates (no skeleton). i think it's been pretty consistent so far, the damage is "different" based on the integrity of the original

Also, animals that aren't human can have stands. Iggy, Pet Shop, and Foo Fighters are examples of non-human stand users

take a bucket of plankton and slip a disk into "all" of them. now all of those plankton are "one" and also have the IQ of about 150 (its not 150, i'm just throwing a high number out there since they are around the average IQ of main characters in jojo since they smart AF).... its a bit of a bizarre concept. they are the stand and stand user. don't think about it too much... lol. their power is just being a bunch of plankton with intelligence.

If we're talking purely numbers, Jojo's Part 7 Steel Ball Run is the 2nd top selling manga of all time, behind only Berserk. And that's JUST Part 7, not Jojo's in it's entirety

jojos def gets alot of recognition and respect and has made many iconic memes in the anime fandom for example the to be continued meme which was all over vine and the internet in early 2016, the jojo pose trend from tiktok a few years ago, and the classic it was me dio. Jojos also has collabs with brands like gucci but yes it does get slept on still to an extent by people that refuse to watch it for things such as the art style or flamboyant character designs. And my last point is that ron is right about the jojos fandom popularity. its massive.

It is mainstream! But not mainstream enough (in the west) to reach DS, JJK, or Naruto levels. The difference between JJBA and other mainstream shows is its unconventional storytelling and overall weirdness, so the younger audience is probably scared away. Its also not a show one would recommend as a starter imo like the Big 3, DS, JJK or even Frieren Know that you guys got into anime after this show's peak years (2014-2019) so you only see what's the most talked about now, added on the fact anime is more popular now than back then Imo the ones sleeping on its popularity this whole time were you guys, it has a whole bunch of iconic old memes that you wouldn't know about
