Apparently I didn't upload these here! My bad! I've done some more studies to find my style for these "Victorian Critters." I've been having a blast playing around with it, using Full Fry Up patrons for my studies! I still have at least one more to do. Full Fry Up folks, if you want one of these, ma

For today's study session I decided to put together some wheels to spin with $100+ patron characters and some of my childhood inspiration! The wheel came up with Studio Ghibli, Cartoon Saloon, Rumiko Takahashi, and Milt Kahl. I had a blast studying how these different creators/studios construct char

For Create What You Want Friday, I decided to repaint a Vaporeon piece I did 8 years ago. It was previously one of the pieces I was proudest of, and one of the few which actually hangs on my wall. But I knew I'd improved somewhat. I did not realize how much!! I still have a lot I want to learn about

Hello all! Today's study practice was drawing Miss Cori's Special (and above) patrons' characters with a focus on value studies!!! I really enjoyed this and learned a lot, and I can tell I got stronger throughout the day. (The pics above are displayed from last to first.) Thank you Nightshade89, Gol

I decided to study some dynamic posing, and noodle a little more on my coloring process! It didn't turn out entirely the way I wanted but that's okay! I had fun and I'm still proud of it.

There's a drawing exercise where you make random shapes on a page, and then try to turn those shapes into pictures. I decided that would be a fun thing to do today, and here are the results! I've been trying to draw on real paper more and it's been a joy to reconnect to my doodly past. Hooray!

Finished some color + shape studies based on patron pets for Create What You Want Friday! Thank you Martyn, Third, my parents lol, Gandeldalf, Ptolemios, and Aelius! My restraints for this was: single layer for color (except backgrounds) hard brush, no blending or opacity change (though I did do a l

The result of today's Figure Drawing session! Poses started at 30sec a piece, then moved to 1 min, 5min, 10min, 30min, and finally 1hr. I was focusing on trying to capture shape and gesture rather than straight-up anatomy, but ended up studying anatomy and color too. I'm REALLY proud of the color st

Had it in mind to do some style study explorations today. There are little bits I wanted to try from different artists, so I wound up picking 3 $100+ patrons to model for me from the Art Study Subjects form. The last several DWYWF (Draw What You Want Fridays, although it will be here on out CWYWF fo

Spent some time today using my study day to practice with cloth! Thank you Shu, Goldy, Rizer, and Frux! These are examples of the kinds of things you might expect as a $100+ patron when I use characters for studies. They won't always be this polished -- these are overdue "draw what you want" commiss

Part of the next big illustration I want to make involves my husband's character, Jason (yes, this is the character that Jason from Tamberlane came from!), who generally wears a leather jacket. So one of my study topics is rendering a leather jacket! Today's challenge was to find some references wit

My husband and I started a new universe for one of our RP character pairs recently (Amber and Jason, for those in the know) and I decided I wanted to do a lovely painting of them. Amber is a dryad and Jason is... I don't know yet! A bad boy, I guess! So first things first, I need to break down every
