Ferrari F50 (1995) v3.2

Our Racing Simulator

I have good news and bad news. Grab a drink or a snack, and have a good read, especially the instructions of the mod.

The bad news is that you have to redownload the mod for this hotfix update...

The good news is that there are several visual fixes and improvements following feedback, especially to the Spider version.

But, the most important and urgent change is a correction to the supercar's weight. Ferrari never officially disclosed the F50's curb weight, only the dry weight. It was always assumed it was above 1300Kg and some even speculated as high as 1400Kg. I stuck with the dry weight of the vehicle, so in-game, including driver, it was 1305Kg. However, following some research last weekend it appears quite a few independent bodies cite 1320Kg as the curb weight. So, taking this into consideration, and the standard weight for a driver in Assetto Corsa, the in-game weight should be more like 1395Kg. This is a significant weight difference of 90Kg, which explains why a lot of sim drivers that have reviewed the mod have found it quicker than expected. I accept full responsibility for this. Please let me explain why.

Jandrovi made some fantastic physics for this supercar. Whilst that is an option in the mod, it is not the main version. The main version physics are also very good, and come with modern tyres and options for Street, Semi-Slick and Slick tyres. Jandrovi's version comes with 90s Street tyres, to make it as historically accurate, and realistic as possible. I checked yesterday and in his data.acd file he clearly stated in-game weight 1394kg, which adds up to what I have explained above. It is my fault for not opening up his physics and seeing some of the things he changed. I would have realised something was off back then. I'm sorry for this. 🙏 So please re-download, install manually as I always advise, to take advantage of all the features of the mod. Go to ...\assettocorsa\content\cars\ remove existing folders "ferrari_f50_1995", "ferrari_f50_1995_z", "ferrari_f50_spider_1995" and "ferrari_f50_spider_1995_z". Then copy the mod contents into ...\assettocorsa folder and overwrite any other existing files when prompted.

Instructions

Next, I want you guys to understand how you can have variations of this mod to suit your tastes. It is done like this because the mod is already over 1Gb in size with the Spider and optimised versions. If I was to also add Jandrovi's version and the Mp/h version, it would be too much. Most folk have this basic knowledge about car mods in Assetto Corsa and I expected this to be common knowledge, but it seems many don't know how to do this. So I will explain below how you can drive the F50 the way you want. These instructions will also be included with the mod from now on.

The mod uses "data.acd" to work in Assetto Corsa and the "extension" folder to make best use of CSP, the sounds are in the "sfx" folder.

So if you want to use the Jandrovi physics (also in Km/h) and capristo sound with the main F50 version. Go to ...\assettocorsa\content\cars\ferrari_f50_1995\.

1. Delete the "data.acd" file. Copy/Paste "data_jandrovi.acd" file and rename the copy "data.acd"
2. Delete the "extension" folder. Copy/Paste "extension_jandrovi" folder and rename the copy "extension"
3. Delete "sfx" folder. Copy/Paste the "sfx_capristo" folder and rename the copy "sfx"

Now you can do the same if you want to use the Mph version, instead of the main Km/h version, this is the one I personally use, with the Mph gauges and the LCD display for speed and mileage. All you need to do is repeat steps 1 and 2 with "data_m" file and "extension_m" folder.

Hopefully the above makes sense, but if you get stuck or have any issues, you can ask in the comments, or even contact me and I will try to help, if I'm not busy. You guys are a smart bunch, so you'll figure it out in the end, I'm sure.

If you think my post with all the text and instructions takes too long to read, or it's difficult to follow, or it's frustrating to re-download the mod when I update it, I promise you it took thousands times longer to create this mod. Food for thought.

And guys, whatever other feedback I get. I'm taking a 2 week break from modding. I'm exhausted. Thank you for your understanding. Peace out. ✌

Hi! First of all, thank you for your work. The F50 is my favourite Ferrari! This mod is amazing and i have a few questions. First, i would like to remove TC and ABS as default since the car doesn't have those. 2nd Whats the difference between your data files and Jandrov? I've tried both, and honestly i feel no difference. 3rd is there a "file" or something to change related to the FFB? I say that because even if i remove the FFB from the car, the wheel still shakes while stopped for some reason. 4th Why is there an optimised version and a "normal" one? Again, i tried both and i felt no difference :D

Hi, you are very welcome. 🙂 You have to extract data.acd in there open file electronics.ini edit as below and save. [ABS] PRESENT=0 ACTIVE=0 [TRACTION_CONTROL] PRESENT=0 ACTIVE=0 But, you can jut turn them off in your settings before starting race. 🙂 Jandrovi's physics are very different, much more realistic when simulating the tyres of the period. Please see detailed instructions in my post. No file to edit the FFB, in same data folder got to car.ini [CONTROLS] STEER_ASSIST=**** (have a play...) [FORCE_FEEDBACK] FFMULT=**** FFMULT=0.8 → lighter steering FFMULT=1.2 → heavier steering Please remember the data folder and files inside will not be taken into account unless you specify this in CM options or rename the data.acd file to data.bak. Yyou can change it back any time you want to go back to defaults. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

I want you to know that this is an amazing piece of kit you have built. I can't believe it is free and open to the public in such a way. Thank you for all of your hard work and its even more special that the non-realistic version is for your kids when they grow up! As for me, I used the jandrov data file and I love how realistic it is. Just one question -- I want this to be in MPH but I have no idea which extension folder it is. The jandrov extension folder has less files than _M and _KM folders... what is different about the jandrov folder since it has fewer files? Thanks again!

Thank you for your kind words. 🙂 The mods are free because I wanted to give back to the community that gave me so much. And what price can one put on so much work... Maybe the way it makes you feel, the joy it brings to people is priceless to me. 🙂 Turning off ABS, TCS, etc is as simple as turning it off in the options before the race, but you can actually modify the data files to do so permanently. The mods are also open and unencrypted, so people like Jandrovi can make their own physics for it. But..., if I remember correctly he only made a km version. Please give me a little time, No promises, but I will investigate and see if I can make a mph version for you, from Jandrovi's version. I can also show you how to remove ABS/TCS permanently in my mods, if you want, in the data files. This is going to be private for you and your friends only. It ccannot be public, as this will require me contacting my collaborators and getting permissions to release another version, etc, and most of us have moved on.

Hello, Dan! Just started exploring your mods and was very happy to finally find the montreal, I saw that you mentioned about making it even better and was thinking about subscribing (very hard decision cause I’m a poor stude), and then I saw the latest paid post, is that true? Is there any chance we will see montreal?..

None of the posts are paid, none of my mods are paid or encrypted. Support was only optional. And yes, I have been doing this for over 7 years, I am retiring.

I invited some friends to come to my house to check out this car. Everyone got a big smile as soon as the first rev pumped. Played on VR. It's awesome! Best car i ever tried on AC.

What a work of art!! I did couple laps at the Nordschleife from Fenryr and managed a decent 8:13.599. It was an amazing experience. My rig: Aurora R16 4090, Moza wheel / pedals, Fanatec H shifter, Quest 3 VR. Thank you Dan :-)

Hi Dan, thank you for your hard work on this great mod! I just wanted to point out a bug regarding the animation of the handbrake, it seems that after you activate it the hand returns and remains stuck on the steering wheel and then returns to withdraw it. Another gem could be the addition of the horn animation. Thanks for everything!

Thank you for your feedback. I have asked my animator friend months ago about the horn animation. I better chase him for an update. 🙂

hi mate, the swapping to the sfx capristo doesnt seem to work. I deleted the sfx folder and named the crapristo folder sfx. But then the car has no sound anymore. The Jandrovi swap on the other hand works perfectly somehow.

Our Racing Simulator - Dan Bucsa · June 4, 2024

Hi mate, I'll check for you. Which version is this on please and don't rename or you may get confused, it's better to make a copy and rename the copy "sfx". Anyways it's probably an admin error on my part. So much in this mod to keep track of, I may have messed something up.

Hi Dan, First of all thank you so much for your amazing work!! I wanted to know what the differences are between the normal version and the optimized one. Greetings!!!

O
Our Racing Simulator - Dan Bucsa · May 29, 2024

Firstly, you are very welcome. 🙂 The optimised version uses lower resolution assets and mainly dds format, which has higher performance on graphics cards.

It's never bad news. If it takes me downloading a new version every day I'll still be excited and grateful for this mind blowing piece of art. Thank you!
